What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?

DH and I are not eating sweet stuff for January and today he commented that he was so fed up with it he would even want to eat a really crap biscuit, so we were debating what that would be.

He reckoned the worst biscuit would be a Nice biscuit, but I think I would much rather eat one of those than a Garibaldi.

Is there a biscuit even more disappointing, that you would be less likely to accept an offer of than a Garibaldi biscuit?

Garibaldi biscuits are the best. Absolutely top drawer.

MadeInYorkshire69 · 19/01/2025 18:19

Party rings. Yuk. The icing makes my teeth hurt. Or iced gems. I think I got sick after eating them at a party back in 1976 and have hated them ever since 🤮

I think that Aldi chocolate digestives are just as good as McVities. Come at me.

Nope. Just don't like chocolate digestives. Funny though I can stomach an Oaties, Aldi's version of Hobnob, but would never eat the original!

Rich tea are the taste of a 70s childhood in biscuit form. A rich tea and a plastic cup of orange squash. Standard kid's refreshment where ever refreshments were served.

Toohot2trot · 19/01/2025 18:40

Definitely morning coffee, the dullest of biscuit and can only get one dunk before they fall apart

Youngheartsalittletogetherness · 19/01/2025 18:40

Can still remember the taste of those plastic beaker's 🤮

Leedsfan247 · 19/01/2025 18:41

Rich Tea - tasteless

TaterTots68 · 19/01/2025 18:46

I like Rich Tea, Malted Milk and custard creams! Garibaldi are a bit crap for dunking so I'm not bothered about them. Nice aren't great. I also don't much like Hob Nobs and not overly fond of Bourbons, Oreos or Ginger Nuts. I just like biscuits in general really. Am particularly fond of Fig Rolls (are they even biscuits?), Fox's Chocolate Rings and Viennese and a good old milk chocolate Digestive. I haven't had a biscuit for months because I can't be trusted not to eat the whole packet

I agree with Nice and Garibaldi: both rubbish. I would also like to nominate the fruit shortcake - a cousin of the garibaldi. Miserable.

If we’re talking wrapped biscuits, then a Blue Riband, Tunnocks Caramel Wafer or a milk chocolate Club are all depressing.

Tunnocks are the best! Especially the dark chocolate ones.

rich tea are great when you’ve had a stomach upset.

can’t believe some people butter digestive biscuits!

I hate water biscuits. I know they’re to go with cheese but they are so dry and tasteless.

Disturbia81 · 19/01/2025 18:48

I like rich tea dipped in hot drinks. I'd say custard creams, so sickly.

Threecats1baby · 19/01/2025 18:50

Haha before I even clicked in this thread my head was screaming NICE!
Good for the both of you giving up sweet things. I hope that there is a tasty packet of chocolate hibnob waiting for you both on the 1st Feb

MaroonedinWales · 19/01/2025 18:52

Agree rich tea are a waste of calories. Bourbon not a great deal better.

Stillamum3 · 19/01/2025 18:56

A Marie biscuit. Thin and tasteless!

ExtraDisorganised · 19/01/2025 19:01

Custard creams 🤮

Auburngal · 19/01/2025 19:02

Arrowroot? I rather eat cardboard

sunshinemakesmehappyx · 19/01/2025 19:06

I love Richtea - best dunker ever!

I could bin off the Nice.
But - is it Nice as in price or Nice as in peace

I’m more a nice / peace kinda girl!

OVienna · 19/01/2025 19:08

anything with both chocolate and orange in it - BLEAH

Bowies · 19/01/2025 19:10

Do they still make Marie or Arrowroot biscuits? Blandest of bland!

Emanresu52 · 19/01/2025 19:19

Rich Tea are the most bland boring biscuit ever! And Wiki says they have been going since 1891, how?

Sometimesright · 19/01/2025 19:20

A Marie biscuit surely must be the most boring biscuit ever!

SpiritOfEcstasy · 19/01/2025 19:24

I live in Ireland and we have some real oddities. Kimberly are ginger ish flavour with a marshmallow centre. The ginger outers are sort of soft. I offered them to an American friend once and he said that it was actually expanding in his mouth - neither cookie nor cake 😂 And Mikado … my exH said he wasn’t sure wether to eat it or go down on it 😂

SuperBlondie28 · 19/01/2025 19:28

Plain digestive for me.

When I was a child, my mum used to buy Rich Tea biccies. We'd make runny icing, put it on the biscuit and then sprinkles while the icing was wet. Was tasty as I remember 😋

NewBrightonEel · 19/01/2025 19:33

Party rings - look lovely but are like rock and tasteless. My now adult children would insist on them for parties and I'd find half eaten ones hidden behind cushions.

jenny77 · 19/01/2025 19:33

Bourbon cream. Dry, vaguely chocolate, vaguely sweet. dull.
