What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?

DH and I are not eating sweet stuff for January and today he commented that he was so fed up with it he would even want to eat a really crap biscuit, so we were debating what that would be.

He reckoned the worst biscuit would be a Nice biscuit, but I think I would much rather eat one of those than a Garibaldi.

Is there a biscuit even more disappointing, that you would be less likely to accept an offer of than a Garibaldi biscuit?

Rich tea! Poor tea more like.

Fig rolls are the worst. Texture of cake then fruity in the middle. Urgh.

Deffo these. Gritty too. Bad bad bad baked goods.

Rich tea dipped in tea. Yummy

What a pointless question?

Grumpy.

DangerPigeon · 19/01/2025 20:38

My vote is Rich Tea too

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 19/01/2025 20:40

Rich tea. As an aside, dipping biscuits in tea is just wrong. <gavel>

Twoshoesnewshoes · 19/01/2025 20:44

Rich tea are so so dull.
not keen on digestives either (or suggestives as my DS called them).
love a custard cream
the best ever are Sicilian lemon and white chocolate cookies from M&S

I live in Ireland and we have some real oddities. Kimberly are ginger ish flavour with a marshmallow centre. The ginger outers are sort of soft. I offered them to an American friend once and he said that it was actually expanding in his mouth - neither cookie nor cake 😂 And Mikado … my exH said he wasn’t sure wether to eat it or go down on it 😂

kimberley are the king of biscuits. Mallow, sugar coating, melt in the mouth ginger biscuit. Tremendous. I just wish they did a veggie version. Mikado on the other hand are super weird - even as a child I loathed them.

Hobnobs taste greasy to me

Charlotte244 · 19/01/2025 21:13

All those people slating rich tea biscuits clearly don’t know that the only way to eat a rich TEA biscuit is to dunk it in a cup of tea (for precisely one second) first! Rich tea are one of the best because you can eat at least 10 before you feel the slightest bit guilty 🤣.

Ginger nut biscuits are the worst for me 🤢.

fatimashortbread · 19/01/2025 21:18

A rich tea with .5 cm of salted butter is a truly magnificent biscuit

Cryingatthegym · 19/01/2025 21:19

Gosh, I love all biscuits. This thread is upsetting to read.

3peassuit · 19/01/2025 21:19

I love rich tea biscuits with a mug of strong tea. Chocolate digestives are the worse, they’re neither one thing or another.

Talkinrubbishagain · 19/01/2025 21:20

I’m one of those people that has to permanently watch my food intake ( deep joy). I do like a biscuit with my first cup of tea,so, I choose Rich Tea as I find them quite ghastly! I eat half..the dog has the other half..bearable that way.

Gonksmum · 19/01/2025 21:24

Rich tea, definitely. I love a Malted Milk, though. Favourites are the oaty biscuits you tend to get in farm shops or posh service stations.

Makinglists · 19/01/2025 21:28

Nice biscuits were designed for dieters with a sweet tooth - you may be desperate for a biscuit but your never so desperate as to crack open a packet of nice biscuit.

Elli123 · 19/01/2025 21:28

Bloomin wagon wheels… nasty

xmaswiththeinlaws · 19/01/2025 21:34

The sugar free biscuits are deeply disappointing, the rest of your suggestions I generally like, especially pink (or other coloured wafers).

Those circular or rectangular shortbread 'shortie' biscuits ( not the proper butter finger ones.) In fact anything from one of those big old-fashioned 'tea time selection' packs where all the flavours meld together and taste of cupboard.

That is such a perfect and apt description of those cheap Family Circle selection trays. 😂

I love oat flips. I buy a packet every time I stop at Tebay services

EsmaCannonball · 19/01/2025 21:36

It would never be my first choice but the dog and I both quite like a Rich Tea. Digestives, on the other hand, are boring and messy and salty.

Bobbybobbins · 19/01/2025 21:38

Rich tea- boring, wagon wheels - vile, digestives - dull.

SirChenjins · 19/01/2025 21:40

An empire biscuit - the most dry, underwhelming biscuit experience there is. The blob of red gunk in the middle doesn’t detract from that.

TwigletsAndRadishes · 19/01/2025 21:44

OneLoyalGreyFish · 18/01/2025 13:30

I love Rich Teas!
Hate Hobnobs - dry as hell 🤮

I agree. Too dry and claggy, horrible texture and much too sweet.

I love plain McVities digestives but accidentally bought a packet of the low fat ones once. God, they were awful.

Efrogwraig · 19/01/2025 21:54

Rich tea finger. Or fig roll.
