What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?

DH and I are not eating sweet stuff for January and today he commented that he was so fed up with it he would even want to eat a really crap biscuit, so we were debating what that would be.

He reckoned the worst biscuit would be a Nice biscuit, but I think I would much rather eat one of those than a Garibaldi.

Is there a biscuit even more disappointing, that you would be less likely to accept an offer of than a Garibaldi biscuit?

Iced Gems and those Party Ring iced biscuits. So many associated happy childhood party memories, which just goes to show what crap taste kids have.

Also, Maryland Cookies. Tooth-crackingly solid and absolutely not worth effort.

Pink Wafers. Stick to the roof of your mouth and coat your teeth. If you've got any left after the Maryland Cookies, obviously.

Official jammy dodgers aren't great, but Fox's or M&S versions are nice.

I would love decent tasting Jammy Dodgers. They don't have them on this side of the pond, as far as I can tell but I love cookies with good jam (but not Linzer).

I have spent the last 20 minutes looking up all of these cookies and have only done page one and part of page 21. Many look good to me! (But, I am also hungry!)

A bourbon. It's just a balled penguin.

(It's legitimate too, I melted one in the microwave to test)

I love Rich Tea and Digestives - I could happily consign Lemon Puffs to the bin, and those Danish cookies that are wildly disappointing. Even the tin disappointed as a child, because if there was a tin hanging about at an elderly relative's, you'd think there might be a biscuit inside only to find it contained random buttons or some such similar.

superclouds · 18/01/2025 19:08

Garibaldi

noblegiraffe · 18/01/2025 19:09

When was the memo sent out to put butter on digestives and buttons in the Danish cookie tin? Everyone knows to do it but it was before social media!

As I read the title I was thinking Nice biscuits.
Nice they are not. Pointless little rectangles.

BCBird · 18/01/2025 19:10

Loooove a Rich Tea, but cannot stand Hob Nobs. Noooooo

Riapia · 18/01/2025 19:13

One that has been left out and gone soft.

BCBird · 18/01/2025 19:13

Love Lincoln biscuits and Lemon Puffs too. Shame don't eat gluten any more

JustCrow · 18/01/2025 19:17

I can’t believe the hate for custard creams. I could eat my way through an entire pack.

Rich teas. They suck the wet out of your mouth.

😂

DerekFaker · 18/01/2025 19:20

I like a Rich Tea. Nice to dunk in coffee!

Definitely Garibaldi. Like chewing on cardboard

JennySayQuoi · 18/01/2025 19:21

Another vote for Rich Tea. Though Garibaldi a close second - known as Squashed Fly biscuits when I was growing up!

Well, none of you are right. Army ration pack biscuits are the worst, taste like glue and sawdust, and only marginally preferable to chewing off your own finger.

Ooh the good old biscuits brown?! I have to say, the plain ones, you can flag your back garden with them! I did quite like the fruit ones though! 😋

MysteriousInspector · 18/01/2025 19:31

Hate Jaffa cakes, fig rolls, and jammy dodgers.

Love a rich tea for dunking, especially the fingers.

In theory I like ginger biscuits but bought ones somehow taste orangey, very disappointing.

I always thought the point of bourbons was to try to eat off one of the biscuits, leaving the other one with the filling on it, and then eating that. Never actually succeeded though.

OhshitSharon · 18/01/2025 13:08

I quite like a plain biscuit, Nice or Rich Tea would be fine by me. I may well turn my nose up at a jammy dodger though, the piddly bit of jam in the middle in no way makes up for the excess of tasteless double layer dry biscuit around the outside imo.

yes! Time that jammy dodgers were called out for being terrible. People give them a free pass just b/c they look fancy.

Biscuits brown! I remember them from CCF at school! 😂

embolass · 18/01/2025 19:57

Only thing worse than a rich tea is a rich tea finger 😂 I mean what’s the point?

ErrolTheDragon · 18/01/2025 20:01

I'venever come across 'biscuits brown' but they sound like they're the British Army's version of dwarf bread. The sort of food you look at, think 'nah, not that hungry', tighten your belt and march on. And of course also an excellent weapon.

Wooooooo......not too fast.

Ships biscuits?

Those things only ever actually seen in O level/CSE/GCSE school history books?

Not P and O for sure. They had posh ginger snaps in separate plastic packets when i went cruising!

Edited

Saw them on the Hairy Bikers once, they tried to eat them and nearly broke their teeth.

NotGottaClue · 18/01/2025 20:12

Rich tea. Although I prefer a rich tea finger rather than the round ones.

I love Nice, coconut rings, and a digestive which most find boring
