What is the most miserable biscuit in existence?

DH and I are not eating sweet stuff for January and today he commented that he was so fed up with it he would even want to eat a really crap biscuit, so we were debating what that would be.

He reckoned the worst biscuit would be a Nice biscuit, but I think I would much rather eat one of those than a Garibaldi.

Is there a biscuit even more disappointing, that you would be less likely to accept an offer of than a Garibaldi biscuit?

Bourbons

Plain Hobnobs

Ginger biscuits

Woah. That's a bit controversial.

I'll say! They are lovely!

WiddlinDiddlin · 18/01/2025 16:42

Pink wafers (with the lovely sweet whatever the hell it is inside) are God Tier... as are Lu Petit Beurre...

I don't think you can count Cream Crackers though, they are a transportation/vector for something else, butter, cream cheese, pate - as such they are a fine thing or how else would we convey such toppings into our faces? But alone, no, they were never meant to be consumed naked!!

Rich Tea. Bland and dry.

They are made to be dunked!

Chicheguevara · 18/01/2025 16:46

Custard Cream biscuits are just vile. Never liked them. Worst biscuits ever.

CleansUpButWouldPreferNotTo · 18/01/2025 16:46

I like a plain biscuit like rich tea, nice, or ginger nut. Rich tea are great for making chocolate biscuit cake!

Dislike custard creams due to sickly filling and tasteless biscuit.

MoggetsCollar · 18/01/2025 16:48

A Dorset knob is the worst. No wonder the locals started throwing them.

diddl · 18/01/2025 16:48

Where I live you don't get a lot of these biscuits so they're all sounding pretty good!

Rich tea & malted milk definitely on list for next visit!

I like the look of the Abernethy biscuits!

I find Hobnobs too sweet.

They are called Hobbits here!

unsync · 18/01/2025 16:49

Rich Tea. It's the biscuit equivalent of a Jacob's Table Water cracker. Might as well just eat cardboard.

Absolutely!

"A drink's too wet without one."

Feelingstrange2 · 18/01/2025 16:50

I've an American friend and we were talking about graham crackers and that here the closest we seem to sell are Digestives.

Her reply

"They are called what???"

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 18/01/2025 16:51

For me it would be a bourbon. Is it chocolate? Not quite.... is it a custard cream pretender? Kind of...

What are you? Commit to a flavour you vague bland bastard!

LittleBearPad · 18/01/2025 16:51

FruminariaBandersnatchiosum · 18/01/2025 13:08

Lincoln. Only the bobbles make it acceptable on the planet. That or lemon bastard puffs or those pink wafer things that are like something you would throw in a cement mixer to add fibres for strength to mortar in a car park - sheesh!

Nasty.

Can you still get Lincoln biscuits? I love them!

Whereas a rich tea is the worlds worse biscuit in my mind

StopGo · 18/01/2025 16:51

Cheap biscuits especially those little three packs. I don't mind a decent quality plain biscuit.

JustCrow · 18/01/2025 16:51

Rich Tea <gavel>

ETA - I remember their adverts from years ago. Their angle was “a drink’s too wet without one”. They didn’t even bother trying to pretend they taste good.

RedLightsStopSigns · 18/01/2025 16:52

Bourbon. They taste of nothing.

I was surprised on visiting Dorset that knob throwing was a specialist local passtime. I was hoping that if I stuck around they might be able to teach me a thing or two😂

Dorset apple cake is scrumptious, though!

twiddleit · 18/01/2025 16:54

You're all wrong!

Worst is Marie biscuits. 🤢🤢 and the sugar free ones are even more disgusting.

The LU Petit Chocolat ones are my version of crack. And when you dunk them in tea the chocolate melts and becomes even more amazing.

ItsBulkingSeason · 18/01/2025 16:57

I love rich tea and nice biscuits!

I am voting for garibaldi, I hate dried up crusty fruit. Ginger biscuits and this lotus biscoff abomination can get in the bin too.

Never come across a lemon puff.

BestIsWest · 18/01/2025 17:03

Bourbon, garibaldi or fig roll.
Love a Nice biscuit.

@SnowyIcySnow with you on the hobnob especially milk chocolate ones. Horrible.

DrivingThePlot · 18/01/2025 17:03

Worst - pink wafer. It sucks all the moisture out of your mouth and doesn't even have any discernable flavour.

I would add fig roll here, but can't get past the smell before wanting to gag.

Best - chocolate hobnob or chocolate digestive.

Youtookmyhandle · 18/01/2025 17:05

McVitie's Rich Tea. Utterly useless. One dunk and it disintegrates.

Clariana · 18/01/2025 17:07

Well, none of you are right. Army ration pack biscuits are the worst, taste like glue and sawdust, and only marginally preferable to chewing off your own finger.

FigTreeInEurope · 18/01/2025 17:07

Manchesterbythesea · 18/01/2025 13:08

Rich tea are lovely dipped in tea!

Might as well eat a beer mat.
