I want a regular treat for myself

...But I'm not sure what.

Like a magazine subscription without being a magazine.

Something I can look forward to each month that will make me smile and requires no effort from me to go out and get, but also not like a regular bunch of postal flowers either.

Does any one know of anything or have any suggestions?

Does such a thing exist?

Look fantastic beauty box subscription. Testers of make up/moisturisers etc for around £13 o/m

Oodiks · 14/01/2025 22:24

There are all kinds of subscriptions you could sign up for, not just magazines. I'm often tempted by one I've seen that sends sweet treats from different places each month. My daughter used to get one from Japan that had kwai treats and sweets, came in nice boxes that I've kept to re-use for all sorts.

Are there? I had no idea. So out of touch 🥴

Can you point me in the direction of any specifically to check out please?

I can't find the one my daughter got, it was nice, and I still have some of the items, small bowls and, weirdly, shot glasses.

AngryPrincess · 14/01/2025 23:10

A coffee subscription might be nice.

Katieweasel · 14/01/2025 23:11

Not quite the same but I'm booking myself a theatre trip for every month this year. Booked in 6 already. Nothing too expensive. Just the cheap seats at local theatres ( live between Bath and Bristol) think the cheapest was £17 and the most expensive was £39. One was a live stream of a play at the Odeon. & Juliet this month 😊

TeaMistress · 14/01/2025 23:13

What about a nice loose tea / coffee bean subscription ( if you like tea / coffee?)
Or a crochet / knitting subscription box? Lush do a nice monthly subscription box if you are a fan of their products?

That sounds wonderful! Sadly I don't have the childcare or the time to do this. I would love to do this in the future though!

Not a subscription as such but every month there's a limited run of lovely earrings here - www.helenchalmers.co.uk/collections/monthly-limited-run

About 7 odd quid a month and they are lovely.

Book subscription box? Do you have a hobby you like. We did a rugby one for a while it for ds was great (but sadly stopped)

Dd2 had had owlcrate (books)
Dh pact coffee
I did cheese for a while
Dd1 had a Harry potter themed one I forget the name its a few years ago
Dd3 had one with sweets
We have tried some beauty boxes
Crochet box for me

I'm considering another cheese one for dh and I.
Friend gets a wine one monthly.

Do you wear make-up? I decided to build up my makeup collection and start to buy really nice stuff once a month.

EsotericMnemonic · 14/01/2025 23:31

I loved getting flowers from Bloom & Wild once a month.

healthybychristmas · 14/01/2025 23:33

Could you allocate yourself some pocket money every month and decide during that month what you want to get with it? Obviously it depends how much you want to give yourself but you could decide on something to wear, cosmetics or perfume, a book, a box of chocolates or whatever you fancy that month. I know when I was a kid I spent all week planning what I'd spend my pocket money on and I really enjoyed it!

sarahjnm · 14/01/2025 23:55

Flower subscription might be nice?
Also chocolate one?
Or wine 👀
If you're into interiors then an interiors magazine would be great - gives you loads of ideas

13Ghosts · 15/01/2025 00:02

Zavvi subscription (Threads) if you're into merchandise
Twisted Retreat if you like horror

Pretty Little Home - cute homeware subscription

selffellatingouroborosofhate · 15/01/2025 02:01

I was going to suggest a sex toy subscription as a joke, but it turns out that they actually exist.

You can get artisan cheese subscriptions.

Chuchoter · 15/01/2025 02:10

Cheese subscription from Cheesegeek.

Beauty box subscription at Sephora.
