I want a regular treat for myself

...But I'm not sure what.

Like a magazine subscription without being a magazine.

Something I can look forward to each month that will make me smile and requires no effort from me to go out and get, but also not like a regular bunch of postal flowers either.

Does any one know of anything or have any suggestions?

Does such a thing exist?

@madamweb have just Googled and I'm really disappointed. It was a company called Reposed but they seem to have stopped trading and the trust pilot reviews are awful because people had paid for a subscription and then never received anything. Such a shame as the monthly boxes were lovely.

WickWood · 15/01/2025 15:33

Snackverse, a snack box each month from a different country!

XiCi · 15/01/2025 15:44

Ones I've previously enjoyed have been:-

Beauty box - I like ones with a mix of skincare and make up
Craft Gin Club
Book subscription
Magazine Subscription- have had Vogue, Elle, Good Food and The Stylist

At the moment my treat is a neck and shoulder massage every month and I love it.

I've been reading about a book subscription from a company that uses good condition used books - I think I might try that next

Yes that's the one I had, they were brilliant and then it all fell apart dramatically

UggyPow · 15/01/2025 15:56

@Imakeearrings I think they are lovely

UggyPow · 15/01/2025 16:00

I receive a quarterly gin & a quarterly rum subscription (my siblings aren't necessarily very imaginative😁) but I would like to find something I could treat myself to.
We used the stuff your kindle days after Christmas for loads of books otherwise I would have jumped at one of these

£50 for 3 books. Faints. Isn't that a bit expensive.

Do you know what it's called?

A candle subscription could be nice. I don't have one to recommend, it just occurred to me that it's one thing I wouldn't mind turning up each month.

Relatedly, maybe someone could invent a collection subscription where once a month a thing you should've got rid of years ago is taken away from your house.

Oh I need that removal subscription Grin (although DH needs it even more. Ideally one that takes obsolete cables and devices away ...)

Yes! A lot of women in continental Europe just go in for "le brushing" too! A quick wash and blow dry with none of the hassle of having to do it at home yourself.

saveforthat · 15/01/2025 16:19

I have a massage every month.

Hemlocked · 15/01/2025 16:20

To offer some alternatives to 'stuff' what about cinema membership or
National Trust membership for regular days out?

Bimblesalong · 15/01/2025 16:21

Love these ideas! Just a heads up that you can access hundreds of magazines for free through the Libby app, with your library membership details. Whilst I love flicking through a paper magazine, I love to browse so many different publications online.

AHH I shall call it that from now on!
I have weak arms so it helps to get it done properly every now and then, but it also feels like a good treat

Hi everyone, I’ve just had this thread brought to my attention! I make all the glass from scratch in my studio here in Scotland and wanted to say thank you so much for all the people who have popped on and purchased some earrings today 🫶🏼 what a lovely surprise and a busy day. So sorry the Christmas puds are sold out but they will make a comeback by next Christmas, hope you see something else you like!

You should set up a monthly subscription box !

BustingBaoBun · 15/01/2025 16:34

During covid I treated myself to a subscription for flowers once a month. I got them from Bloom & Wild. You can do 3,6,12 etc.
I so looked forward to them... I might not have been going out but to get flowers delivered once a month was a rare treat.

Yes!

LeaderBee · 15/01/2025 16:49

Blind date with a book - you click a couple of buttons about what genres you're interested in and once a month they'll post you something random that fits your preferences.

ChaosAndCuddlesAndTeacups · 15/01/2025 16:50

Ahhh, I used to adore LoveFilm!

Craft Gin Club is great (if you like gin!). Its about £40 a month (you can do every month, every other month, or every three months I think) and you get a bottle of premium gin worth at least the value of the subscription, plus tonics, mixers, spirit shots etc to make a couple of cocktails. There's a magazine with instructions for the cocktails, and a selection of funky snacks.

We really enjoy the unboxing and having a cocktail night. You can get similar things for other spirits too.

Oh thank you! They do some lovely books

LoafofSellotape · 15/01/2025 17:32

I wouldn't subscribe to anything,I think the majority are a rip off. I'd decide how much I want to spend and put a reminder every month in my phone, then buy myself a treat on line- lipstick, bubble bath, scarf, book.
