For the better, obviously.

Can be a thing, person, activity, place...anything really.

Mine is trig bagging. It's so much fun and gets you out there, to unexpected and unknown places.

What's yours?

Isn't the zig zag walk also how to get away from a crocodile that's chasing you?

BornSandyDevotional · 10/01/2025 21:07

I really want to copy OP's adventure now!

I would LOVE that. Everything in my house is crotch height for me

the kitchen guy plumber and my husband were like wtf. I am only 5ft 5 inches high aswell too 😆🙈 so like not tall.

BoudiccasBangles · 10/01/2025 21:08

Trig bagging! @rosemole you’ve just found me a new hobby! Thank you so much Grin

Waggytail · 10/01/2025 21:08

Realising most cleaning products can be replaced with white vinegar, bicarb of soda, washing up liquid, and zoflora. Saves so much money and is so much greener.

Bar of soap instead of shower gel.

Decluttering and buying less.

Cutting out meat and most ultra processed dinners. I eat waaaay more vegetables now to bulk my meals out.

rosemole · 10/01/2025 21:09

@BoudiccasBangles @BornSandyDevotional that makes me so happy!!!
I wish there was a trig bagging topic on here.

I love this.
I have an internet radio with settings tuned for Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza, Thessaloniki Greek chill music, plus Turkish and German relax stations.
When the sun is shining it doesn’t feel like I am just chilling in Swindon.
(I’m not in Swindon)

We built what we like to call our little taverna under the pergola and vine in our garden so when we eat out there in the summer we always have Laikos FM on the speakers. That's from Thessaloniki too 😀

secondsoutthere · 10/01/2025 21:12

@Istilldontlikeolives I have 2 dehumidifiers!

blackbird77 · 10/01/2025 21:13

My heated electric blanket/throw has been my favourite purchase of the last decade. Also my thermos that I bought myself on Black Friday.

@Vroomfondleswaistcoat is there a specific channel on YouTube for the pilates?

These are the ones I'm working my way through, nice and gentle because I'm over 60, but if you search Pilates there are loads on there to choose from.

I have just recently discovered you can call a meeting if someone is rude to you and ask that person what exactly they ment by that.
So far it was a delight watching them appologise and then thank you for making it a private issue.
Fucking amazing.

xyz111 · 10/01/2025 21:17

Not discovered, but on Sunday I got all my DS school clothes out for the week and put in a pile in order that they're needed (wears PE kit some days). So the pile went joggers, T-shirt, socks, pants, trousers, polo, socks, pants etc. every morning has been amazing, just pick up the day from the pile and he's dressed in 2 mins, rather than the 10 mins a day I was spending hunting the house for the right bloody trousers and tops!!

•DuoLingo, my DH gets so impressed when I overhear something and can roughly translate it! Spend a few months slowly learning Greek/Spanish/Russian/French/German... I'm now two years in and can't imagine stopping the habit anytime soon.
•Dehumidifier for drying clothes aswell as the house.
•AudioBooks
•Small Dishwasher- family of four (two older teens!) and it's so much better putting plates/cups/utensils in there while leaving only pans to hand wash. Breakfast clean up is a doddle.
•RoboVac
•Coffee Machine
•Lambswool Insoles. Only received them this morning, tried them in my slippers and haven't took them off all day! So toasty warm! Will save the other pair for my outdoor boots.
•White Company Essential Oils. They make the house smell amazing.
•Small carpet cleaner, it's meant for accidental spills etc but I do my full carpets with it, takes time but it's better than having a huge upright to store somewhere. Just fits on a shelf!
•Champneys Slumber diffusers upstairs, I can't smell them anymore but every now and again I get a phantom whiff, so surely they're still giving off scent and I'm just noseblind.

I love these happy miscellaneous things threads 🤣 I'm going to look into the exercise things mentioned too, so thanks for the inspiration.

Does it have to be a big dehumidifier? Is it just for when you have damp clothes hanging inside?

Another2Cats · 10/01/2025 21:23

Judgejudysno1fan · 10/01/2025 21:00

I want one so badly, im rubbish with rice and spend so much money on those micro packets ....
Are they really so simple.to use?

Yes, it has been a total game changer. Just put the rice and water in, hit the button and it does everything automatically.

We just got a cheap one from Amazon for about £20 and we do actually make so much more rice now.

It's a bit like putting your bread in a toaster rather than having to grill it on both sides in the oven. It's a lot easier do you're much more likely to do it

Probably a shark hoover with a light on the front! I need to get out more...

I've got one of those, gives me equal measures of pleasure cleaning up the mess and horror at what has been lurking around without me realising it

Soonenough · 10/01/2025 21:24

@Bellypork I would love that VacumnMop but it is nearly £600 😮 so bucket 🪣 and mop will have to do.

how do you manage so many languages - do you do one lesson a day for each? or more? You are a duolingo master by the sound of it!

OK don't get excited but it's just literally a button that gives an extra spin. It's not obvious at all. I read it on here, googled it and tried it for my Bosch machine.

So when clothes are still wet, previously there wasn't an option for me to get them drier without an extra spin. It had to be rinsed too. Was long and annoying. I didn't want the clothes to get wet again.

That was it 😂

We have the same button on my AEG machine - for non-sports / lightly dirty clothes I use the 30 minute wash which includes a spin, then the addition spin cycle. Cuts down on drying time.
