For the better, obviously.

Can be a thing, person, activity, place...anything really.

Mine is trig bagging. It's so much fun and gets you out there, to unexpected and unknown places.

What's yours?

BornSandyDevotional · 10/01/2025 20:17

Heated throw. Everyone I love got one for Christmas. Game changer! Also, mushroom brush.

whatisforteamum · 10/01/2025 20:19

Walking everywhere helps alot .3 miles for work most days.
Cats are the best companions.
Warm, snuggly playful and purring.
You can tell them anything and they don't gossip.
Magnesium and vitamin D has helped me.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 10/01/2025 20:20

I usually nip down at about 7.30 to make a cup of coffee to take back to bed.

@judgej, I have a travel kettle in the bedroom to make a coffee before I get up. (And I'd have a mini thermos too if I wanted milk.)

@secondsoutthere what does the extra spin do? I'm going to try it!

OK don't get excited but it's just literally a button that gives an extra spin. It's not obvious at all. I read it on here, googled it and tried it for my Bosch machine.

So when clothes are still wet, previously there wasn't an option for me to get them drier without an extra spin. It had to be rinsed too. Was long and annoying. I didn't want the clothes to get wet again.

That was it 😂

It's a bit lame but - I downloaded a Spanish radio app on my TV so it feels like I'm on holiday

I love this.
I have an internet radio with settings tuned for Cafe Del Mar in Ibiza, Thessaloniki Greek chill music, plus Turkish and German relax stations.
When the sun is shining it doesn’t feel like I am just chilling in Swindon.
(I’m not in Swindon)

@Vroomfondleswaistcoat is there a specific channel on YouTube for the pilates?

Have just discovered a microwave and intensive bake setting on my microwave. A had a crispy baked potato ready in 15 minutes!

Do you know you can get prebaked frozen baked potatoes? Ready in 5

I clicked on the trip bagging link and am still none the wiser!

I would say a best buy was a special suction tool that removes the kickboards from below the kitchen cupboards really simply, they just come right away on the tool.

Are the slow cooker liners single use plastic? Not very keen on that sadly.

Apologies if someone has already asked this, I haven't RTFT but why do you need to remove the kickboards on what sounds like a regular basis?

That if I only run uphill and powerwalk the rest of the way, I can run every day without injuring my knees.

Knitting, it is calming and productive and seems to bring me into contact with welcoming people.
Personal sound bar so I can turn the tv volume up and not have others complaining that it is too loud.
Rechargeable hand warmers.

How does the soundbar work? Where do you position it - near your seat? Can you recommend one?

We have one person in the household who has significant hearing loss in both ears but refuses to get hearing aids, so the TV is constantly on really loud and with closed captions all over everything. If we could get him something to be able to hear it without the rest of us being deafened in the process, that would be amazing!

Life enhancing rather than changing but the Goodnotes App has been fantastic for me. It’s particularly good if you have a tablet with an e-pencil. I use if for different things but the main one is organising my study of a language and it’s so easy to create and organise documents and folders and make study sets (flash cards). It’s simple to add photos and tables and to annotate documents and export them in different formats. I genuinely think it has helped me learn the language as it’s so easy to be organised and to find what you need. I have to write in the exams I take so being able to use the pen to write my written work, save it as a PDF and send it to my teacher is really helpful. we so rarely write much these days that when I first wrote my homework longhand the teacher struggled to read it.

My DH recommended it to me and he loves it even though he doesn’t use it for a language and he, like me, is competent in Microsoft Office.

I love some of the suggestions on this thread and will be investigating them further.

rosemole · 10/01/2025 20:33

@HowardTJMoon pleasure! Hope you enjoy it! There are books for most counties in the UK to track your bagging successes. Enjoy ☺️

Heated fluffy throw for the sofa.

Mini slow cooker, I put pinhead oats on low heat at night, wake up to perfectly cooked porridge for breakfast every morning. It saves loads of time in the mornings.

Do you think this would work for insomnia? Are they very warm? I chuckled the duvet off pretty much every night and that’s with no heating on in bedroom.

It’s worth a try! Not very warm, you could try it instead of a duvet ?

I have no idea what it's called - you put it under your microwave, it slides out and gives you a shelf to put the plate you've taken out of the microwave. Also have the same thing for my table top oven

This is genius, never heard of this.

Flow Headset. For depression, it has worked magic for me. I was at the stage of feeling as though my whole life was swimming through cold sludge, although I counted my blessings and kept telling myself how lucky I was, I was just totally and utterly miserable. Had been through several antidepressants.

Since using it I've been happy, interested, content and looking forward, all things I haven't been able to do for years although I've gone through the motions of socialising and doing things with friends and family.

Flow Headset is being used by some NHS areas, it has amazing results for a high proportion of people. Since I started using it I have felt like me again. I have felt happy, I have looked forward to things in a way I thought I never could again.

Brilliant

This is my January 2025 budget goal!!

ladygindiva · 10/01/2025 20:40

Just a few seconds ago, that you can buy an adaptor for under £5 so you can plug 3.5mm jack headphones into a phone with only usb c sockets. I've had my Google pixel over 2 years and not been able to plug my awesome headphones in and listen to music as I've refused to splash out on new headphones.... Until tomorrow thanks to Amazon prime. I'm pretty excited and feel a bit stupid 🤣

Put a hot water bottle on your dashboard 5 mins before you need to leave and your windscreen defrosts. No more running the engine or scraping in the cold.

Love this idea. Also chucking water over the windscreen.
