For the better, obviously.

Can be a thing, person, activity, place...anything really.

Mine is trig bagging. It's so much fun and gets you out there, to unexpected and unknown places.

What's yours?

please tell me more about this sauna blanket!

infrared doesn’t have to get as hot as traditional saunas in order to get the benefits, I’ve found it great for relaxation and joint pain although it is also promoted as beneficial for blood pressure, depression etc but I think that is saunas generally.

it’s like a sleeping bag with a cotton insert you can take out and wash ( because you do sweat in there). I just laid it out in the spare bedroom so I don’t have to keep putting it away. You set the temperature and timer and zip yourself in. The first time I tried it was very weirdly zen, I was under enormous pressure and stress at the time. It’s absolutely relaxing, I put my audio book on while I’m in there but I always go to sleep.

Ah, now I see your point.

I was a seasoned peak-bagger until an accident a couple of years back affected my mobility. This likely isn't irreversible - although it will require further surgery - and I'm going through physio and ramping up my exercise in the meantime in the hope of getting back to it. I'll have to look into this trip bagging malarky further. Thanks for posting this thread!

This! A "potato ricer"! It may have been around for hundreds of years but this is the first time I've ever seen one and I feel this is going to Revolutionise Everything!!

lol, thought I was going to see something exciting, I have had potato ricers for I'd say going on 45 yrs, seldom use it now mind you. I find a small hand held electric mixer gives an excellent result for fluffy mash, would only use the ricer if I wanted to pipe the mash as it's guaranteed super smooth.

Actually just as I was typing I remembered that as a child (we're talking 60 yrs ago) one of our favourite things for dinner was 'potato worms' which was just the potato squeezed straight onto the plate from a ricer and not turned into mash, always served with stew or something with sauce so you mixed it all up but we loved watching the 'worms' landing on the plate 😁

Retirement.

Life is SO much better without working.

Same here. I am disabled and have to WFH, writing was my life and the only skill I have left.
I still get some work requests but people want to save money now and so go straight for the cheap option.
Everything it spews out is ‘samey’ and there is no personality but I understand why people use it.

ChatGPT is absolutely dreadful for the environment too, it uses tons of water and energy

me neither
i still suspect entire thread a ruse on OP’s part to bring attention to her website!

No, you just have terrible reading comprehension skills. The site explains what it is and does. Also you could just Google if you’re still confused instead of accusing the OP of being a shill. So that shows a lack of critical thinking skills too. 😐

Cunnilingus..........Ooh la la

A night driving tip from one of the roadside assistance groups that popped up randomly on Facebook. When a driver coming towards you hasn’t dipped their headlights focusing on the left edge of the road as far ahead as you can until they have passed helps keep your road position right and prevents you being dazzled. Find night driving on country roads, which I do a lot of, so much easier now.

Would your relative be eligible for a bone anchored hearing aid? I couldn't get on with in ear aids but love my baha! There is a device you can get with it that streams the TV directly to the processor

Possibly, but he refuses all medical intervention. He got tested and was diagnosed with profound hearing loss in both ears, but thinks that any kind of hearing aid is a sign that he's getting old, which he won't accept. I think he might get on board with a soundbar because it's not medical.

rosemole · 11/01/2025 10:45

To anyone who thinks trig bagging is my website, it isn't! But even if it was, who cares? Trig bagging is free and good for your health and wellbeing. What a grifter I am wanting to spread that around!

Ah that's a shame but not uncommon unfortunately. It's quite exhausting not being able to hear well - both for the person and their loved ones!

I think this a great thread.

Just ordered some packing cubes for our campervan. Thank you poster who suggested them.

Maybe everyone who replies with a suggestion is the CEO of the company that owns said suggestion 😂

🤣 you were ahead of your time! Or if not your time, certainly ahead of my time..I've only just noticed them. Sheltered life...

Park Run, I started doing it about 3 months ago with my son for his gcse PE. Can't believe I'm saying this but I love it; friendly, just the right amount of competition (though more with myself!) and I feel like I'm doing something for my physical and mental health. Plus I get to spend time with my oldest who zooms ahead of me and cheers me on at the end.

This is lovely 🥰

These!

Doesn't this mean you're cooking your food in plastic though... isn't that going to be problematic for health reasons?

NordicwithTeen · 11/01/2025 11:00

Extendable poles with curtains over the front and back doors and fireplace to keep the warmth in.

Started carrying a single over the door hook in my coat pocket, so that if I'm in a public toilet with no hook on the door i can still hang up my coat and bag

Now that... is a fantastic idea!!

Same. Sports physio told me that one hip is higher than the other (I had hip dysplasia as a baby) and my hips are always clicking and achy. Went for a scan on NHS and they said all is OK. It seems to be whoever shouts the loudest (most pain) is listened to.

Being told there’s nothing wrong (usually by a GP) is very common for hip dysplasia and related issues.

The clicky hip test for babies wasn’t around in the 70s so a lot of older women have problems from undiagnosed dysplasia now.

You have to be very very persistent.

Physios are great for identifying issue, then writing to GP to get a referral to consultant rolling.

Packing cubes. Makes packing for holidays so much easier, I can pack swimwear/cover ups in one, going out stuff in another, underwear in another etc. When you’ve reached your destination simply remove from your case an place in drawer or shelf, sometimes I find packing overwhelming and this way makes it doable in smaller quantities.

Seconded! They are brilliant. With the right bag l now only take hand luggage on holiday as can pack so much smaller.

Chilliandbanana · 11/01/2025 11:02

My heated throw. Total game changer for me.

Flow Headset. For depression, it has worked magic for me. I was at the stage of feeling as though my whole life was swimming through cold sludge, although I counted my blessings and kept telling myself how lucky I was, I was just totally and utterly miserable. Had been through several antidepressants.

Since using it I've been happy, interested, content and looking forward, all things I haven't been able to do for years although I've gone through the motions of socialising and doing things with friends and family.

Flow Headset is being used by some NHS areas, it has amazing results for a high proportion of people. Since I started using it I have felt like me again. I have felt happy, I have looked forward to things in a way I thought I never could again.

What is it exactly though... hardware or software?

going away for Christmas/New Year. Am retired and no kids so went to the South of Spain last year and this year (just back) for half of December and January. I will never spend that cold, over commercialised load of bollocks that Christmas and the depths of Winter are again, as long as I'm able to. So help me God 😊

Edited

Wish we could do this! Unfortunately I’m the chief provider of Xmas for everyone else!
