For the better, obviously.

Can be a thing, person, activity, place...anything really.

Mine is trig bagging. It's so much fun and gets you out there, to unexpected and unknown places.

What's yours?

Frozen mashed potato

We have an electric under blanket. It goes on the mattress, under the fitted (or flat) sheet. It makes the bed so cosy.

A pull out pan drawer.
No longer do I have to lie flat on the floor with a torch in search of a pot or pan.
My life is complete.

In my new kitchen I have 6 deep drawers and 3 shallow drawers, I love them! I have all my pans in one, appliances like slow cooker, soup maker, hand mixer in another, all my plates, bowls and crockery in another, one for casserole dishes and two for storage containers and Tupperware - I’m so organised! In my shallow drawers, obviously one is for cutlery, one for spices answer sauces and the final one for plastic bags, foil, clingfilm, silicon bags etc.

It have cooking so easy, everything to hand with no moving stuff around to get to the back of cupboards!

My most recent purchase which has changed my life is a modern coat stand for the hall, it has three shelves for random shoes and enough hooks for all my visitors to hang there coats.

SO late to the party but an Air Fryer. Absolutely love it and kicking myself that I waited so long to get one.
Ovira - not overweight enough to get weight loss injections - have lost 7lbs in 2 weeks and for the first time in my life, i don’t feel hungry all the time.
Heated throw - worth every penny this last week

What is Ovira? I’ve not heard of it before and when I Google it, I was directed to a supplement to reduce appetite? Does it work or is it a bit of a con?

Long hot water bottle with a soft velvety cover.

Just before I go to bed, I fill it with hot water and place it under the covers to heat up the bed. Then after brushing my teeth, I crawl into bed into the hot spot, put the bottle over my tummy and hands in the pouch to keep them warm as I sink into a deep sleep. Bliss in this arctic cold

@VexedofVirginiaWater mine doesn't need plumbing in, I fill it up from a jug, and there's a pipe at the back that sits in the sink for the water to run out of.

Chat GPT. Use it every day, saved so much time and learned a lot

This is one of mine too!

Had it last year but my heated throw. I feel the cold badly and this has literally changed my life as now I'm comfy.

I second this!

Chat GTP is fabulous but unfortunately it has completely taken my whole career away from me 😥

ADHD medication. Aged 60 I finally never lose my keys, don't put things off for up to twenty five years (no exaggeration) and have the energy to get through each day without wanting to nap every hour. Tidying no longer overwhelms me, and I don't want to snack every five minutes. Wish I had tried it decades ago.

Oh you've given me hope! 51 and hoping to try it as soon as other health conditions allow!

It's going to take lots more careers away, including mine.

I'm thinking of learning a practical trade, as in electrician or plumber, because there isn't a tradie robot yet.

Btrsun10 · 11/01/2025 00:31

As another PP has said, please could you give your recommendations for the heated throws? I'm another that has had a couple and had to return as they just stop working after 1 or 2 weeks.
Thanks!

Robo vac/ mop. The floors (especially the black tiled kitchen floor) look so much better with very little effort.

This is on my hit list for this year. I have had 1 sitting in my Amazon list for about 2yrs 😂

Mine is dreamland and I've had it since 2015 if that helps

BorrowBox: free phone app on which you can download a huge range of audio books and e-books for free. The audio books are the same ones you have to pay £7.99 for from Audible. You can borrow for 10 days or so like a library book, read/listen and after that they disappear. You can have several lined up simultaneously on your phone and always have an e-book to read.

You'll need to be a member of your local library (free): they'll issue you with a card and a PIN to register with BorrowBox. I'm never without something to listen to now.

Sorry to hear that. What career was that?

faithfulortratior · 11/01/2025 00:50

When you put on your coat, you can hold onto your jumper/top sleeves to stop them going your arms.

This. And Libby, another book app you can access through your local library. I'd also like to give a shoutout to my recent find of archive.org for making so many books publicly accessible.

how the human body can reveal a persons true feelings for someone via body language vs what they say

This! I've just moved house and now have a pan drawer for the first time in my life!

I also bought slow cooker liners from Tesco during my recent trip to the UK - will be trying them out on Sunday!

The micro plastic leaching would put me off these. Paper liners for an air fryer on the other hand are very good.

That specific app or AI in general?

I’m so sorry to hear that. I’ve heard about HR being taken over by AI 🙁

Garlic granules!

For anyone struggling with how to cook plain rice:

Rinse rice in pan with cold water until water is clear.
Add cold water to 1cm above the level of the rice.
Boil till bubbles are coming through holes in the rice.
Put on lid and turn heat to lowest setting for 7 mins.
Turn off heat but leave lid on for 10 mins.

I just bought a rice cooker. Means I can wander off and forget about it safely.

Radio Garden is brilliant - you can rotate the globe and find a local radio station anywhere in the whole world, there are thousands of stations. This is the website, but there's also an app. I love it:
Radio Garden

Edit: ignore this info - stations outside the uk have been disabled due to copyright. I've been using with a vpn.

Edited

Oh no, I used to like radio garden, thats annoying! Which vpn do you use?
