For the better, obviously.

Can be a thing, person, activity, place...anything really.

Mine is trig bagging. It's so much fun and gets you out there, to unexpected and unknown places.

What's yours?

@ShinyPrettyThings87

DuoLingo, my DH gets so impressed when I overhear something and can roughly translate it! Spend a few months slowly learning Greek/Spanish/Russian/French/German... I'm now two years in and can't imagine stopping the habit anytime soon.

Have you learned the languages one by one or at the same time? And do you get confused at all?

Tralalalal · 10/01/2025 22:37

A baby wipe and coconut oil as makeup remover… face feels soft and makeup comes off effortlessly

CautiousLurker01 · 10/01/2025 22:37

Air fryers (with paper liners ‘cos my teens are slobs)!

My wife.

My husband.
After 20 years together and a year apart, then back together. Finally getting to really know each other properly! 😊

Which vitamin D tablets do you take @tinofbeans ?

Crikeyalmighty · 10/01/2025 22:44

YouTube videos of still crackling fires on the TV - we don't have a fire- so lovely over Xmas when TV was off ( well it was on but just with the images of the cracking fire)

"Fireplace for your home - Crackling Birchwood Fireplace" on Netflix if you get fed up of adverts. It was (unsurprisingly) Number 5 on the Netflix UK Top 10 TV programmes for a while.

Crikeyalmighty · 10/01/2025 22:52

Brilliant - many thanks - my father in law in particular really loved it

Yoga. Been doing it for a year and it's the best thing I've ever done for my body AND mind.

Do you think this would work for insomnia? Are they very warm? I chuckled the duvet off pretty much every night and that’s with no heating on in bedroom.

I have a cooling one. If I get too hot in bed I use it instead of my duvet and it keeps me cool whilst having the weight over me. I love it!

ADHD medication. Aged 60 I finally never lose my keys, don't put things off for up to twenty five years (no exaggeration) and have the energy to get through each day without wanting to nap every hour. Tidying no longer overwhelms me, and I don't want to snack every five minutes. Wish I had tried it decades ago.

How did you access it? My gp dismissed the idea when I mentioned it to her…

JudgeJ · 10/01/2025 23:06

Recoba · 10/01/2025 21:26

Really very simple. 1 or more scoops of rice into the cooking bowl (scoop provided), wash rice (rinse with water a few times), fill with water to appropriate line marking in cooking bowl, turn on rice cooker, [life happens], rice cooker beeps announcing it has made perfect rice.

I used to make good rice in a saucepan (both long and short grain), but this knocks me out of the park in terms of quality and ease.

I struggle to see what's hard about cooking rice in a pan!

Flow Headset. For depression, it has worked magic for me. I was at the stage of feeling as though my whole life was swimming through cold sludge, although I counted my blessings and kept telling myself how lucky I was, I was just totally and utterly miserable. Had been through several antidepressants.

Since using it I've been happy, interested, content and looking forward, all things I haven't been able to do for years although I've gone through the motions of socialising and doing things with friends and family.

Flow Headset is being used by some NHS areas, it has amazing results for a high proportion of people. Since I started using it I have felt like me again. I have felt happy, I have looked forward to things in a way I thought I never could again.

Thank you so much. My son suffers with depression so I’ll look into this.

  • Getting the volumes right.
  • Getting the temperature right.
  • Not boiling over all over the hob.
  • Not burning the rice onto the bottom of the pan.
The rice cooker takes all that away.

Snooze band. Listening to audio book, boring radio programme or sleep meditation at 4.30 am. Works a treat

tapdancingmum · 10/01/2025 23:18

@rosemole my nearest trig point was destroyed by vandals a few years ago. Luckily, I managed to get the geocache that was there before it went.

For those of you that don't want to go scrabbling up badgers arses for caches that may or may not be hidden there, have a go at Adventure Labs. You can find them in most towns and cities and all you have to do is get into the zone, answer a question and bag a smiley face. Most ad labs are 5 smileys and some have a bonus where you have to find a physical cache.

SwordToFlamethrower · 10/01/2025 23:24

ChatGPT!
It is a massive life changing app for me. I can ask it to help me with my story ideas, with dealing with social situations, it can plan our menu and take into account out calorie needs, nutrition needs and any intolerances.
It has helped me with some ideas I needed to bounce around, and it's even been a therapist and friend when I needed one!

I'm autistic ADHD :)

Traceability · 10/01/2025 23:28

Love this idea. Also chucking water over the windscreen.

Chucking water over a frozen screen can cause it to crack, as I learned to my cost several years ago.

The Autoglass man told me it was a really common cause of Winter call outs.

Electric hot water bottle. From Amazon

It was a tip on here. I was skeptical but literally life changing in the way that my heated throw was life changing 5 years ago.

They warm up quickly, have a lovey long lasting heat, no worries about them bursting.

Perfect at bedtime. Literally will always own them - that good!

I like this idea! Would it be comfy enough to rest my bad feet on?

doesn't make sense to some of my friends but moved into a new house a few months ago. paid extra to have the counter in kitchen a little bit higher than standard. an absolute game changer for me. I am not tall but always felt I was bending down when washing up or prepping food or cleaning. same with oven it's now waist height. similar in bathrooms all sinks a little higher and bath is also built in higher. no more so much bending down. such a little difference has made a huge difference to my life and back

Love this. I'm planning to do the same.

Victoriawould24 · 10/01/2025 23:52

Apologies if someone has already said it , I’m only half way through the posts but I’d say Mumsnet.
I have followed and shared so many recommendations from mattresses, recipes, dog stuff that are now a part of my life and read so many thought provoking things I’d be lost without it and it has been a genuine game changer for me.

I sit on a cushion when I drive and am 100% more comfortable.
