We went to a cafe yesterday
We got there at 2pm and as we walked in they said all they had left was jacket potato or prawn sandwiches /ham and egg pie
I said to my friend I will get the jacket potato as I don't like any of the other choices.
My friend she was getting the ham and egg pie.
She was stood in front
Then she said actually il get a potato instead
We got to the front and I said "can we get two jacket potatoes please"
The lady said they only had 1 left and my friend pipe up "oh il take that please with Tuna" what you going to get ?
I double check what they have and say again I don't like anything else so il just get a tea.

Then she sat there and smirked "oh can't believe they only had 1 left "

Wouldn't you have just had something else ? She liked pie
I would of just to be kind

I'm sorry but I would have just walked out on her. What did you gain by watching her eat your only choice for lunch? This was a power play and she won.

Justkeepingplatesspinning · 11/01/2025 15:43

She smirked. She knew exactly what she was up to. It's playground tactics to get one over on you and see you 'suffer'.
I'm sorry, @mirandabaileyy but she's not a true friend. A true friend would have chosen something else when you reminded her about the potatoes being the only thing you liked.

Imisssleep2 · 14/01/2025 19:07

She doesn't sound like much of a friend. I Def would have choose something else to let my friend have the last jacket in that scenario

I had to go back and double-check.

The OP said this:

I said to my friend I will get the jacket potato as I don't like any of the other choices.

So she had effectively unilaterally decided what her friend was having.

But that isn't what happened.
Friend initially wanted the pie, so how was it obvious that she didn't want it? They didn't know there was only 1 potato until they got to the front of the queue, so OP didn't tell her friend what she could have at all.

I had to go back and double-check.

No she didn't. At the point OP said that they didn't know there was only one jacket potato left. She was just making a comment about what she was having. Then horrible friend who knew OP didn't like the other choices because OP has literally just told her, takes the last jacket potato. Friend is a total bitch.

OP I'd have gone elsewhere to eat, wouldn't have bought a drink, just said to friend see you later I'm going up the road to Subway or wherever. Then stopped being friends with her.

But they didn't know at that point that there was only 1potato, so as far as OP knew her friend could also have one. But friend said she was having the pie.

Meanwhile there is a full scale war going on in Ukraine, folks are getting bombed and killed daily, middle east is in turmoil, Kim Jong has international ballistic missiles....
those guys just don't get the real pressure of a friend eating a baked spud that I wanted do they? This is real happening in our town stuff.

Do you never have day to day worries or things that annoy you?
Are you on a higher level than everyone else, whereby you always take a step back and say "well, others have it worse"?

Congratulations on being the best person in the world!

If that's what your friends do, what do enemies do?
