Leaving the house in disarray till Monday.

Am still in Christmas mode.
Sleeping in until 10am (have teens) chocolates for lunch etc.

DH said about us attempting to tackle the bedroom today (it was thw dumping ground over xmas) but I said I want to just leave it al until the kids are back at school and I will tackle it all then.

Am obviously doing the normal daily stuff, bits and bobs, kitchen etc

But until Monday I just want to keep the Christmas lights on and watch crappy TV and play scrabble

Anyone else feel the same?

Enjoy your time off, it only comes once a year 👍

Jabtastic · 02/01/2025 15:32

I had great ambitions for today but none of them have come to pass. I'm still in holiday sloth mode apparently!

No33 · 02/01/2025 15:33

I'll be sorting mine tomorrow. Mum is coming over for a take away and wine!

Printedword · 02/01/2025 15:34

We are not in any Christmas related disarray. Tree has to be outside morning of the 6th for recycling collection. Decs and cards stay up until same evening. Contemplating keeping our lantern with lights as it's winter themed rather Christmas

Twitwootoo · 02/01/2025 15:35

Done and dusted and normal service resumed here. Tree went away yesterday, healthy shop arriving later, all open wine poured down the sink for dry jan dentist and optician for the kids at 9am this morning, cleaners been and washing on.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 02/01/2025 15:35

We just took our decorations down today. We're back at work on 6th, but I like to have a few days where Christmas has gone, before work begins again. Gets me back into normal routine.

I'll start getting my body clock back to normal as well, although I am writing this from my bed but more so because my period started and the first heavy day is always pure evil ! So I'm feeling tired, nauseous and achey.

latetonews · 02/01/2025 15:38

The clutter of Christmas has been thrown out today and I feel like i can think straight again. The excess and mess of Christmas stresses the DC and myself out so we are happy again.

What is it about Christmas sleep being all over the place?! We have other half terms and school holidays when the alarm isnt set, but somehow still manage to get to sleep and wake up ok. But Christmas time rolls round and it's just insomnia central lol!

I know! I think it’s the Christmas exhaustion and dark mornings? I am contemplating melatonin tonight..

I just don’t want to back to work feeling like I have jet lag and be exhausted.

Nothatgingerpirate · 02/01/2025 15:52

No.
Just no.
Christmas is over, so is New year's Eve.
Everything done, apart from lichen on garage doors. 😂
However - just my husband and me here, and
I probably do have OCD (not diagnosed).

4 children and DH is playing on a computer game with eldest now.

He's given up the idea and is having a mince pie and cream.

I won't feel depressed Monday, I'll be ready to sort thw house out without any parental duties interfering

Well I'm glad you took a break from your skydiving, novel writing and Japanese lessons to post that comment :)

Yep. Proper bunch of lazy fatties aren't we?

Vile people we are, enjoying a long awaited Christmas break.

We should be utterly ashamed of ourselves eating thwle food we've bought and not throwing at away at the stroke of midnight because its not Christmas anymore.

I'm doing the same as regards the house. Deep clean starts Monday. I am keeping the laundry up to date, bleached the loos, cleaned the kitchen sink and will hoover downstairs tomorrow. It was cleaned thoroughly the week.before Christmas and it's nice to have a break from it.

No I'm somewhere in between. I've still got stuff out from Christmas but the place is tidyish. The tree is still up until tomorrow but all other decorations are down. I was getting fed up of it all cluttering up the place now Christmas is over.

Another teacher here and I’m somewhere in between. The tree and the last of the decorations were put away yesterday, I’ve been doing small jobs around the house each day but also spending large amounts of time on the sofa, eating chocolates, watching tv, reading, listening to podcasts and sleeping a lot! Back to reality on Tuesday.

Whatwouldnanado · 02/01/2025 16:26

Kids go back to uni at the weekend so still enjoying the cheese mountain, games, last of the booze, and watching films. Not squalid so no pressure and decent enough when friends pop in Will strip beds and muck out the fridge after work on Monday. There’ll be years when they’re elsewhere this time of year so it’s nice to make the most of it.
