Watched 'Romy and Michele's High School Reunion' last night with DCs and the dance scene still absolutely cracks me up.
Reminds me of what the posters on the MN Strictly threads call contempo waft 😆

Which film or TV scenes do it for you?
Links welcome!

The inbetweeners film where the boys dance across an empty bar to meet the girls.

Only Fools Batman and Robin

Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse in their office Christmas do a few years ago "procurements" 😂

Moss in court in the IT Crowd.

Moss is my absolute favourite, especially when he can't get out of the witness box and climbs over.
Father Ted to Dougal, 'This one us small, that one is far away..'

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 02/01/2025 14:23

Bridesmaids, when they're doing the speech and end up in a sing off😂

An episode of Frasier called Ham Radio. Frasier is attempting to put on an old fashioned live radio drama for Halloween, I think. The whole thing is just wonderful, especially Niles as he gets more annoyed at Frasier's overbearing directing, but the line that gets me every time is Bulldog's girlfriend who rehearses her line very carefully, then when her time comes yells out LOOK OUT, HE'S GOT A NUG!

I agree. Just thinking about it makes me laugh.

GothicCrackdown · 02/01/2025 14:30

Leslie Knope’s political rally on an ice rink in Parks & Rec.

Prob. still works in isolation but I reckon it’s funniest when viewed in the context of the whole season episode.

JoBrodie · 02/01/2025 14:32

The entirety of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau including -

Clearing sinuses

Little notes and moose calls

I particularly like this one as they play it so straight.

“The pill in the till, the drug in the jug, the candle with the handle, in the gateau for the chateau” ‘Allo, ‘Allo.
The dance while standing in the queue at the Labour Exchange in The Full Monty.
”Don’t call me Shirley.” And many other bits in Airplane.

bendmeoverbackwards · 02/01/2025 14:37

@JoBrodie The Odd Couple is one my favourite films ever. As well as the visual humour, there are some great lines.

Funny I haven’t thought of women in weeks
I fail to see the humour

The only man in the world with clenched hair

😂😂😂

So many from Gavin & Stacey but this one gets me every time! (Don't they all look so young 🥲)

Major in Fawlty Towers has me in fits every time. Fawlty: "think please, think!". Major: "what was the question again?"

Father Ted, hundreds of scenes.

Life of Brian probably has more laugh out loud moments than any film I can think of. "I was blind and now I can seeeee..."

itwillnotopen · 02/01/2025 15:01

The night before, the scene in the church- 'fuck you Jesus!'

TickingAlongNicely · 02/01/2025 15:26

Yes Prime Minister... Humphrey describing who reads which newspaper. Hacker asks about The Sun and Bernard replies "they don't care who is running the country as long as she has big tits"

Gil's boyhood in Surrey speech is hilarious. When it's on I can just see my late dad laughing his head off

Latenightreader · 02/01/2025 15:28

Many, many scenes in Coupling, but particularly Susan pretending to be Patrick’s wife. Someone states that they are surprised Susan isn’t wearing commitment rings, and she finds hers deeply erotic. The was Susan says “Not nearly as erotic as mine” makes me laugh every time.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 02/01/2025 15:34

Lots of bits of Father Ted and the French Knights in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The phrase 'your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries' is my favourite insult of all time.

It's so interesting to see how programmes that leave me cold make others laugh until they are incoherent. Takes all sorts..

Rikki Fulton's "terrible burns" sketch.

As a Jason Staham fan, in the film Spy, I have to link to the brilliant comic piss-take monologue he does:

Gavin and Stacey in general but this scene particularly - Pam and the badger 😅

BarmyFotheringay · 02/01/2025 15:50

Agree with many already mentioned - IT Crowd Theatre Outing, Frasier Little People episode stands out as well as the already mentioned Big Nose one, The Odd Couple, Curb. The Murder in Successville episodes with Jamie Laing and Richard Osman always make me laugh. Also Mick Jagger and Keith Richards running the corner shop in Stella Street.

*National Lampoon Vacation - after all the travelling, they finally get to wally world and it's shut.
*National lampoon European vacation - when they are in London and they can't figure out the round about and chevvy breaks out in hysteria

Friends - "itchee bon, lipstick for men"
When Phoebe is in the studio recording and she thinks the backup dancers(behind the screen) are people watching like in an aquarium

Coupling? Blimey. Is that the one with the discussion of cushions?

Yourinmyspot · 02/01/2025 15:54

The Red Dwarf episode called Polymorph the whole episode has me howling. Also like the Good Life scene in the Windbreak War episode when they all get drunk and Margo doesn’t get the joke.

Most of Bottom still has me howling, too many individual scenes to mention.

Mongrels when Marion takes the catnip,

Roundaboot · 02/01/2025 15:55

The Gold, Frankenstein and Grr scene from the Christmas episode of Bottom. It's just a perfect little comedy nugget, the whole set up is just so well done and Ritchie's punchline just gets me every time.
