We're just about to head into town for dinner with DS then hopefully get him to bed at a decent hour. Then it'll be a nice bottle of red wine, a few G&Ts and the plan is to watch a music documentary before Hootenanny. May stay up til midnight. Most likely won't!

It was going to be a takeaway but we're just back from a weekend away with lots of junk consumed so now it'll be grilled chicken and veg (but with some wine and then chocolates after, we're not maniacs).

We have a 6 month old and all got up at 5am today to travel home so very unlikely we'll see midnight!

starrynight19 · 31/12/2024 15:53

Just picked up an M and S dine in deal so scotch eggs , then beef bourginon with mash and greens followed up by sticky toffee pudding. Then a cheeseboard later with a nice bottle of wine.
Not sure if i will stay up until midnight may pass out in a food coma.

Cherrysoup · 31/12/2024 15:53

DH has prepped chicken wings which will be crispy and delicious and he has a pizza which he will jazz up massively. There’s coleslaw, olives, multiple decent whisky/wine/vodka. Rock on, lovely quiet night in, just the two of us.

Icanttakethisanymore · 31/12/2024 15:54

My 13mo is currently getting up at anything between 4:30 and 5:30…. I’m definitely not seeing the new year in 😂

edit to add - dinner is left overs from various family gatherings over Christmas. Very low key here!

BeAzureAnt · 31/12/2024 15:55

Staying in. Chickpea soft tacos with all the fixings, bottle of fizz, just DH and me. We'll ring in the New Year with a glass of port.

SunshineAfterTheRainR · 31/12/2024 15:56

Mexican food - just loaded nachos, fajitas etc nothing too fancy. Plenty of decorations up, pyjamas on, everyone making cocktails / mocktails, then the sundae competition and sparklers in the garden. Not sure if we’ll make it to midnight but will try!

FrolickingTowardsTheFestivities · 31/12/2024 15:58

On Mounjaro so trying to watch what I eat and don't feel miserable for it.
No alcohol or snacking tonight.

Floranan · 31/12/2024 16:06

It’s just me DH and adult Dd tonight. DD was talking about possibly going out. But she just come in from working a very long stressful shift so thinks she’ll give it a miss and join us for dinner. I’m doing a leg of lamb with roast potatoes etc. very very much doubt DD will stay awake for new year, will be doing well to stay awake for dinner !. DH likes to stay up for new year, so I’ll try and stay up with him, but haven’t been sleeping well lately so I’m not making promises

ObieJoyful · 31/12/2024 16:08

My friend is cooking lamb, with dauphinois and veg, followed by Eton mess.

I’m taking lots of wine, plus lovely organic bread and eggs, to have with avocado for breakfast.

We’re planning a NY yomp in the fells with all our dogs tomorrow.

purpleme12 · 31/12/2024 16:09

Pimms and lemonade
Debating getting McDonald's delivery but not sure yet
Possibly watch the new Wallace and Gromit film as haven't seen it yet. But we'll see I guess.
It's just me and my child

Susiesoozie · 31/12/2024 16:10

Chilli and rice. Nachos if DS1 remembers to get tortilla chips

Susiesoozie · 31/12/2024 16:11

Watch - maybe the last episode of bad sisters or Rob and Romesh v darts

FromCuddleLand · 31/12/2024 16:11

Pizza, chocolate mousse and sparkling pear or raspberry drink for the kids. Maybe some wine or ginger beer for DH and I. Not sure what we're watching but something family friendly.

BiddyPop · 31/12/2024 16:13

I have just opened some tasty local crisps (have been very good this season) and I have a white wine, DH a Belgian beer.

We plan a dinner of prawns and avocado, duck breast with cauliflower (piri piri chick for dd), and possibly some kind of dessert..if I get organised. I have a nice bottle of Rioja for dinner, and a bottle of Prosecco for later.

Not a clue what we'll be watching, but I am turning off you tube videos of car repairs very very soon!!!

Not2identifying · 31/12/2024 16:14

Cottage pie with peas, brocoli and green beans.

Black Panther (BBC1 at 8pm)

When Harry met Sally (BBC3 at 10.30pm)

PlantDoctor · 31/12/2024 16:14

We're having 'party tea' then putting fireworks from Sydney or somewhere on the TV for DD (5). Might have a g and t too!

Feelingstrange2 · 31/12/2024 16:15

Aldi slider and bbq bites with gin cocktails made by son to use up the last bits of three different gin bottles.

Aldis butter chicken and nann bread.

Upside down lemon meringue (homemade so no pastry!) With raspberries.

Espresso martini or liquer coffee

Fireworks at midnight - watching town display from upstairs if the wind stays away! Possibly we will go out but my elderly Dad lives with us now so he will probably prefer watching with home comforts even if we miss some.of the lower ones.
