If you're staying in tonight - what are you eating, what are you drinking and what are you watching?

We're just about to head into town for dinner with DS then hopefully get him to bed at a decent hour. Then it'll be a nice bottle of red wine, a few G&Ts and the plan is to watch a music documentary before Hootenanny. May stay up til midnight. Most likely won't!

Husband is working and I am staying in with the dog (which I’m secretly happy about rather than feeling a pressure to go out!)

Have got a tray of sushi I picked up in the fridge. Some mini Prosecco bottles and a block of blue cheese.

Currently having a look around to decide what to watch.

StiggyZardust · 31/12/2024 16:15

Staying in, haven't looked to see what's on TV. I'm cooking a chicken, bean and tomato concoction. No alcohol for us as we're collecting DS from a party.
He's got an early flight tomorrow morning, so We're being very kind parents!

Musicalmistress · 31/12/2024 16:15

Prosecco and cocktails for me, gin and beer for DP with some music playing. Home made curry and naans then we'll watch Jool's Hootenanny to bring in the bells.

Jennyjennyitsabox · 31/12/2024 16:15

Fresh cooked ham, baked cheese with cranberries and sourdough to dip, salad, home made potato scallops, fried Christmas pudding with ice cream, rose prosecco and hootenanny

Pascha · 31/12/2024 16:17

My sister is here. Our Christmas present to her is steak, hers to us is red wine and so we make an evening of it. (the kids got a tenner each so they are happy).

We might watch a film, no idea what though. More likely we will chat til the boys go off to bed, dh will retire around 11, sis and I might see the new year in but only if we remember.

All very relaxed and nothingy. Nice.

Judgejudysno1fan · 31/12/2024 16:18

We don't celebrate new year
But tonight we are having chicken pie, roast potatoes and veg
Chocolate digestives and chocolate bourbons for after
And watching Mr popper penguins

And tomorrow is my first day of the year annual declutter and mega clean and roping in the teens and tweens to help.

Jealous of those who are getting a Chinese.
Please send chicken satay skewers and egg fried rice and mushroom chicken my way, ladies

MJDecember24 · 31/12/2024 16:20

Ordering in a Lebanese takeaway with lots of starters and dips etc.

prob watch the wicker man on Blu-ray (got it for Christmas) and then jools. The fireworks stress the dogs out so will have treats to distract them at midnight when all hell breaks loose, although hopefully the bad weather is putting people off from setting them off on their back yards.

needhelpwiththisplease · 31/12/2024 16:21

Steak fondue & cava

OTannenbaumOTannenbaum · 31/12/2024 16:24

4 and nearly 2 year old should both be down by 930 I hope. Then DH and I have homemade nachos and beer to look forward to. Not sure what we're watching yet though!

Grumpyoldthing · 31/12/2024 16:24

Well I have bought myself a bottle of pink champagne 🍾 - and already had a glass !

my plan is to potter around and slowly finish it for midnight 🤣

read , watch telly and put washing away .

husband is working till 8 , then he’s going to his works pub for a few.

he did ask me to join him but I’m really not interested…..

Pancakeflipper · 31/12/2024 16:27

Stating home.
I can't drink alcohol this year.
We have a few children away having fun.

So the youngest has selected for crispy duck pancakes, chilli prawns, rice, prawn toast and Thai fish cakes.

Then for pudding there's cheesecake, Christmas pudding, fruit and meringues, brownies and cakes.

Not yet picked the TV/film delights.

Floralnomad · 31/12/2024 16:27

Chicken in leek sauce with green veg . I will be awake at midnight because I always am , not fussed about the New Year and not interested in fireworks .

mindutopia · 31/12/2024 16:27

A selection of frozen party food plus blue cheese dressing and crudités.

I’m sober so I don’t drink alcohol, but I do have a bottle of freixnet 0.0% and various other AF things. Got some mini cans of AF g&t’s as well plus an AF Bailey’s dupe (from Twisst, I highly recommend them, taste exactly like Bailey’s but no alcohol). No idea what Dh will have as he’s recovering from a stomach bug.

We will watch a film with the dc and then put youngest to bed and try to stay up with older one to watch whatever plus fireworks (if they don’t get cancelled) and then straight to bed. I loathe missing sleep so will stay up no later than I absolutely have to! 😂

Diversion · 31/12/2024 16:29

Steak and chips with profiteroles for pudding. Youngest adult DD is coming and has requested sausages. I have a glass of red wine and will have more later, DH may have a glass of white but rarely drinks. DD will be driving so will likely just have a soft drink. I have an extensive collection of DVDs so will watch something, probably a horror.

Blankspace35 · 31/12/2024 16:32

oven pizzas and a pretzel platter with leftover christmas chocolates

Gggglinda · 31/12/2024 16:34

Roast dinner and rewatching desperate housewives atm. Currently on season 3.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 31/12/2024 16:35

We're unlikely to make it to midnight tbh, our 3 year old will be up around 6am and frankly I just don't see the point of staying up to watch fire works on tv.

We've got some party food, crips and dip, some mini Choc puddings from the party food range in the freezer too if we fancy something sweet.

Drinking? Again not much. Dh and I are both on mounjaro and I've lost the desire to drink. Might have a G&T and see how that goes down

CandlesOrangesRedribbon · 31/12/2024 16:35

Possibly Dr who if tween will watch otherwise, possibly wall street.
Eating indoor bbq stuff
Drinking prosecco, white wine and this delicious riojca.

Natsku · 31/12/2024 16:36

We're eating duck confit (from a tin) with duchess potatoes and salad. I'll be drinking beer and wine, as will my friend, OH and the children will be drinking coke, and we won't be watching anything (apart from fireworks, which I'm currently watching from my window. We'll do our own ones a bit later) but we'll play board games. I wanted to get some tin horseshoes to melt down for fortune telling but the shop had sold out of them.

Dontcallmescarface · 31/12/2024 16:38

Cup of tea, biscuit and whatever's on the telly. For various reasons I don't "do" NYE so will probably be in bed asleep by 10.30 anyway.

boredaf · 31/12/2024 16:39

Snacky party food, a couple of bottles of VK which is barely alcoholic but feels like I’m having a drink still and playing monopoly! Just planning to have a chilled one.

bishbashboshjobsagoodun · 31/12/2024 16:40

Magicmushroomsauce · 31/12/2024 16:00

Chinese takeaway here.

mixed starters, crispy duck, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, crispy shredded beef, special fried rice, honey roast pork noodles and prawn crackers! Diet starts tomorrow 😄

Ooooof that sounds bloody delicious!!!

KangaRoo00 · 31/12/2024 16:40

I'm cooking spaghetti bolognese for me & DD & later we are moving the puffet into the middle of the corner sofa (it makes a super king size bed) & we will just watch movies/play games/colour.

Hoping to finish 'the serial killers wife' when she falls asleep.

Happy new year everyone xx

21ZIGGY · 31/12/2024 16:40

Im gonna eat pringles and drink sparkling elderflower and be in bed by 930🤣

HNY!

NormaNormalPants · 31/12/2024 16:41

Tartiflette with Brie or Camembert as searched everywhere for Reblochon and had no luck (proper first world problem!) DH will probably have wine or beer, I’m 8 months pregnant so will be sticking to squash. We have apple tarts in the freezer and ice cream for pud. Don’t expect we’ll make it to midnight as we have a toddler who was up at 5 and are hoping to get out early doors for a walk with the dogs tomorrow.
