We're just about to head into town for dinner with DS then hopefully get him to bed at a decent hour. Then it'll be a nice bottle of red wine, a few G&Ts and the plan is to watch a music documentary before Hootenanny. May stay up til midnight. Most likely won't!

Eating nasi goreng, menfolk will be drinking beer but I won't be joining them. Watching Alien.

Cheesyfootballs01 · 31/12/2024 18:21

Pasty and Coke Zero.

Followed by cookies and doughnuts

rockingbird · 31/12/2024 18:22

Two sick teens so complete change of plan! We should be having dinner out and heading to a friends annual family friendly NYE party.. Instead it's steak baguettes and true to tradition bingo (home style) 👀 down. Oh well.. I'm destined never to go out out..

HappyDartsmas · 31/12/2024 18:22

We've watched Game of Throws, watching Rob and Romesh vs Darts later followed by Bullseye from last week that we haven't watched yet... roast chicken today and steak pie tomorrow for supper.

weegiemum · 31/12/2024 18:23

Probably going to bed. Dh is on call for 111 so away until tomorrow morning, both my adult dc who still live here (have another with her own place) are out, one with her boyfriend locally, the other in Paris with his girlfriend!

I've got cheese and wine, and a dog I'll have to nurse through the fireworks (he's 8 but wet himself on guy fawkes). But I plan an early night!

Sortalike · 31/12/2024 18:25

Have attempted to make a couple of chinese dishes, so will hopefully have chicken and cashews, crispy chilli beef and egg fried rice.

If it doesn't work out... beans on toast?

No plans to stay up, but DD is determined to see in the new year.

PondWarrior · 31/12/2024 18:26

Always steak and red wine for us on NYE - become a tradition! No TV, just music.

CaptainCabinetsTrappedInCabinets · 31/12/2024 18:27

Probably a tin of soup, water and big foot.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 31/12/2024 18:30

Going to the local for dinner. I’m driving, but will go home and see the new year in with our dog and a glass or two of Chablis which is chilling in my fridge as we speak. Will watch the fireworks in London on the tv.

Teacherprebaby · 31/12/2024 18:31

24CRZZNKKA · 31/12/2024 16:02

Steak and chips for dinner
Crisps and dips for snacks at the bells
Squid game for TV
Some beers for OH and some no'secco for me as pregnant

I'm 9 months pregnant so I'm indulging in a glass of red for the evening that's in it.

Daisymae55 · 31/12/2024 18:32

Charcuterie, nice bread, cheese, olives, crudités and dips.
Chocolate puddings for later
A nice bottle of malbec

Evening will be spent gaming together and finishing watching Squid Game season 2 - bliss!

Ooh, is there the possibility of news from Paris @weegiemum?

Grinchybinchy · 31/12/2024 18:33

Minestrone and homemade focaccia followed by steak with rocket and Parmesan and then all the left over Xmas cheese and crackers. Some nice wine, a bottle of fizzy and will probably be asleep by 10.30 and woken up by my 12 year old to watch the fireworks at midnight before zzzzz 😄

ueberlin2030 · 31/12/2024 18:34

Random snacks and drinks while watching back episodes of Shetland (with Jimmy Perez in) and knitting a sock heel flap....early to bed no doubt.

Forgot to say we are watching bad sisters and hopefully Jools.

Excellent choice. We are going to watch the final episode.
What a lovely thread. Wishing you all a happy new year x

lemonyellows · 31/12/2024 18:41

Steak, peppercorn sauce, onion rings and triple cooked chips. Finishing off the Yule log with cream.

Bubbly and white wine.

Watching films. Not sure what yet.

Bbq1 · 31/12/2024 18:41

Doing our traditional NYE. Party tea and food and drink throughout the evening. Watching Die Hard 2 and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. We'll watch the bells and fireworks at 12, sing ALS, toast the NY and ds might first foot. Wind and rain has put paid to our fireworks and sparklers but they will be okay for tomorrow.

buybuysellsell · 31/12/2024 18:43

We've had cauliflower and aubergine korma and will be in bed by 10. Life with young DC! Ten years ago I would have been getting ready for an all-night rave!

JM88Jen · 31/12/2024 18:45

Made a lovely buffet for my family. All the last Christmas snacks and sweets treats are out too.

Spent the day freshening up the house and building wardrobes so an easy evening was on the cards.

Currently having a can of Kopperberg strawberry and pineapple.

Looking forward to bringing out desserts in a while 🤣

LyndaSnellsSniff · 31/12/2024 18:45

Pasta and salmon for tea.
Champagne to drink.
DH is currently hogging the TV playing on the X Box which could go on for hours.
I've been out for lunch today and been to see Better Man at the cinema.

Tiredofitallagain · 31/12/2024 18:46

Ham and cheese toasties with lefover cheese
DH making a cocktail for the fam
My dad loves to watch some concert on YouTube so I reckon we'll join in since we're staying at theirs.
DH and I might nip for a walk if kjdsgo down eaSy!

Happy new year everyone x

LawrenceSMarlowforPresident · 31/12/2024 18:46

New Year's is the big winter holiday in my DH's culture, much more important than Christmas. We will be staying in but plan to make the most of it. DH is making lamb. Yum. We'll also have salmon and various starters, after dinner will be gingerbread blondies with ice cream. Drinks will be wine and prosecco, DH will probably have some vodka. We'll open presents as well (we did presents for Xmas too, we celebrate a mad number of holidays this time of year).

I'm not sure what we will watch this evening. For the past few days we've been rewatching selected episodes of The Crown, perhaps we'll continue to do that.

CheshireCat1 · 31/12/2024 18:46

Always Hotpot for NYE, Guinness to drink , watching Have I Got News for You 2024.

That sounds gorgeous, do you have a link to the recipe?

MichaelandKirk · 31/12/2024 18:47

Just watched Goodbye Mr Chips. Absolutely lovely. Then a steak dinner and off to bed at 2200. Doubt I will be awake by midnight but I have a TV in the bedroom so maybe….
