We're just about to head into town for dinner with DS then hopefully get him to bed at a decent hour. Then it'll be a nice bottle of red wine, a few G&Ts and the plan is to watch a music documentary before Hootenanny. May stay up til midnight. Most likely won't!

Me, dh and 2dc. We’re doing a throw together freezer dinner/type buffet. Haven’t specifically planned it just using up bits from the freezer.

2x cheap frozen pizzas,
some chicken drumsticks that I’ve got a bbq marinade for,
1x pack of popcorn chicken,
a few chicken nuggets that aren’t enough for a meal,
green salad,
coleslaw,
1/2 bag mini sausage rolls leftover from Xmas.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/12/2024 16:44

Quiche tonight (I had just enough pastry left over from mince pies) with onion, crispy bacon and cheese - we have lots of eggs to use up. New potatoes and salad, and maybe 🎄pud and brandy butter afterwards.
If I can stay awake, will watch Big Ben and the fireworks on TV with a glass of fizz.

Ihopeyouhavent · 31/12/2024 16:44

Chinese takeaway, im getting Tom Yum Soup, prawn curry with egg fried rice and spring rolls!

Bailey's, Champagne and margaritas!

Watching our wedding video with our grown up kids, they dont remember seeing it and it was our 25th anniversary this month!

I'll probs be doom scrolling in bed from 10pm!!

Makelikeatreeandleaf · 31/12/2024 16:47

Home alone. Champagne, some party food from Waitrose and a bit of cheese. No idea what to watch, but now a pp mentioned When Harry met Sally is on, maybe that.

Petal7 · 31/12/2024 16:48

Charcuterie, olives and "posh" crisps.
Steak, spicy potato wedges, green salad, tomato salad, roasted peppers and courgettes
Christmas chocolates
Champagne/beer/Coke Zero/J20
Will watch something family friendly/play games early evening, then switch to Squid Games!
Happy New Year all!

worriedgal · 31/12/2024 16:49

I'm recovering from an infection I've had all over Christmas!
I've not got much appetite but dh and I are having rib eye steak, chips and creamed spinach ( will share a steak as I'm not feeling it) then crème caramel for pudding.we are planning on watching a movie or two .
One of us will pick up dd3 (19) from the pub/ her friend's house as she's working tomorrow so doesn't want to stay up all night with her friends.

CrikeyMajikey · 31/12/2024 16:51

Steaks with parmentier potatoes.
Chocolate mousse cake with raspberries & creme fraiche.

Bubbles are chilling, fave red wine is open.
Teenage DC’s are having dinner then off to parties, DH playing taxi into the small hours.
It feels like an enjoyable evening with no stress.

lissie123 · 31/12/2024 16:54

We’ve had to delay our New year celebrations due to illness. Rearranged for Saturday instead when we are planning a full evening with dinner and games with friends. Tonight will be nibbles and maybe a glass of fizz in front of the telly.

BondStreet · 31/12/2024 16:55

We’re hosting tonight but we’ve decided we’re going to order a takeaway, we’re thinking Vietnamese.

I’ve made a couple of desserts, trifle, lemon meringue pie and bought some melt in the middle chocolate puddings for the DC.

We’re planning karaoke, delicious cocktails and board games! I’m actually really looking forward to it.

awaywiththeproverbial · 31/12/2024 16:55

It’s just the two of us tonight (plus 3 year old). We hosted last year so taking a year off!
DH is making chicken ramen from scratch and currently baking a raspberry cheesecake then we’ve got some fancy waitrose picky bits for when the toddler is in bed.
Crémant is the fridge but I’ve got a glass of Gavi on the go already. I prefer crémant to champagne and it was on offer in waitrose so it was a no brainer especially as I’m doing dry January.
We have 3 episodes left of squid game 2, so will watch those then hootenanny, whilst trying not to fall asleep!

annonymousse · 31/12/2024 16:56

We have another couple coming over. We're having a bit of a pub menu - Brie in breadcrumbs to start with chilli jam and or red onion chutney then hunters chicken with beer battered chips and carrots and tender stem broccoli followed by upside down passionfruit cheesecake. Many cocktails will also be consumed.

gavisconismyfriend · 31/12/2024 16:56

Christmas mimosas. Gammon, mashed potatoes, stuffing, pigs in blankets, peas, bread sauce, cranberry sauce. Lemon meringue pie. We’re having Friendmas dinner - essentially a repeat of Christmas but with the family you’d choose rather than the one you were born into. Blood relative obligations are all out the way so everyone can relax. Some will be in sparkly clothes, others in pjs - basically whatever you’d really like to have worn on Christmas Day. There will be card games, hilarity and plenty of friendly banter, none of the pas-agg sniping that may have been experienced on the day itself. We may or may not make it to midnight…

Pollydollydoodle · 31/12/2024 16:57

Carry out, possibly Indian. Bottle of fizz and might go back to the very start of Gavin and Stacey! Both teen DCs are out, probably be in bed before midnight but won't sleep well until I hear them both come home - god knows what time that might be though!

Talkabtit101 · 31/12/2024 16:58

Ordered a pasta evangelist and will watch Batman vs superman.

Me DH and 5.5 year old.

CosyAutumn · 31/12/2024 16:59

Prawn cocktail or pate and toast or both
Steak, chips, mushrooms, tomatoes, rocket salad, steak sauces (peppercorn/Diane)
Cheesecake and cream
Leftover chocolate, crisps, dips
Leftover cheese, biscuits, chutney, grapes

Red wine, white wine, baileys, gin, vodka, Prosecco

Don't know what we'll watch.

So glad we don't have to go out anywhere!

Happy New Year, everyone! 🥳

brbg2g · 31/12/2024 17:01

We are having chicken curry with naan bread. Drinking rhubarb gin, beer for DH later.
Pudding is lemon cheesecake. After dinner dh is taking older kids to the cinema for a late showing of new sonic film and I will get DD in a nice long bubble bath.

Will stick bbc on at about 11.30 but not sure what we will watch before that. Youngest will be in bed around 9.30 and we will see how tired older kids are after the film. If they stay up we will play some board or card games probably.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 31/12/2024 17:03

Indian meal out in an hour then Bollinger and films

FurForksSake · 31/12/2024 17:04

Me and one son staying in, rest of family going out. We are ordering wings and watching King Kong apparently. I might have some Prosecco.

PiastriThePastry · 31/12/2024 17:05

Chinese takeaway, no-secco and hopefully I’ll still be awake to watch the fireworks and whatnot on tv. Probably not tho… I’m nearly 30 weeks pregnant and sleep is my favourite thing at the moment 🤣

Raindropskeepfallinonmyhead · 31/12/2024 17:06

Takeaway curry, roulade with prosecco. Vernon Kay on the box. Happy new year all x

QueenOfWeeds · 31/12/2024 17:06

@starrynight19 I’d forgotten all about those scotch eggs - they’re the stuff of dreams!

V envious of all the Chinese takeaways - we are rural and our nearest one closed down, haven’t found a good one yet. It’s pasta with toddler DD here, and then some dim sum later on. We bought a case of lovely wine and a v nice bottle of fizz in France over the summer, intending it to be for NYE, but 2 days later we found out I’m pregnant - assume (hope!) DH will open something slightly less nice.

RealHousewivesOfTaunton · 31/12/2024 17:06

I ordered a box of nice cheese and charcuterie so I'm looking forward to munching my way through that with a box of crackers. I have a good book that I'll settle into on the sofa.

DD is binge-watching a tween Netflix drama about a time travelling ballerina. DS hasn't emerged from his teen-cave yet and we're unlikely to see him unless he wants a drink. DH is sorting something out for his tenants but will be home for cheese later. If there's any left...

jay55 · 31/12/2024 17:07

Just back from holiday. Going to have Xmas biscuits and watch all the Christmas specials I missed while away

SexAndCakes · 31/12/2024 17:07

I'm home by myself. Have been up since very early so not expecting to last til midnight though am also a light sleeper so rarely sleep through the fireworks outside!

I've already eaten steak, broccoli and sun-dried tomatoes for dinner. Blueberries to follow. I might finish the big clear out that I started yesterday that has about 1-2 hours left in it. Otherwise I will be planning for the new year and having a bath. I have a bottle of champagne in the fridge that may or may not get opened depending on how I feel.

Up early for the gym and a family lunch tomorrow - I am more of a fan of the actual new year that NYE.

KimFan · 31/12/2024 17:08

Just opened an olive and charcuterie platter and poured a glass of wine. We are having steak, chips and salad for dinner and will peruse the TV guide a bit later. Our two beautiful cat sisters are curled up in front of our log fire which is roaring. A pretty puurrrrfect New Year’s Eve in my eyes. 🥰
