Mine was Car 67 by Driver 67. I bought it with a Boots gift voucher just after Christmas 1978. The B-side, an instrumental called Communications Breakdown (nothing to do with Led Zeppelin) is the superior track.

Thanks OP, Car 67 is now my ear worm for the day!
I too went to Boots with a voucher and bought 2 singles, The Inbetweenies by the Goodies and Killer Queen by Queen Grin

The Sun Always Shines on TV or Train of Thought by Aha, can't remember which one. It was from Parrot Records, a vinyl single, I was 10 or 11 and I also bought in that trip a Famous Five choose your own adventure game book and a pen that wrote in silver with a green outline. Must have had some birthday money or something

TheTecknician · 31/12/2024 11:36

Car 67 was a curious success. I was nearly eight when it charted; punk was finished and disco was on its way out. New Wave bands hadn't really got going so I suppose the field was wide open for an oddity like Car 67. Obviously it caught my ear.
