Are your kids awake yet?

DS(5) has been awake over an hour. After half an hour or so he came into bed with us (so he doesn't wake his smaller sibling) and we're categorically not doing gifts for at least two more hours. But, he cannot sleep.

It's going to be a long day!!

Mines are still asleep! Aged 8 and 4. I however didn't sleep at all I don't think and I'm usually a good sleeper. Gutted. just couldn't switch my brain off 😅

Cuppaand2biscuits · 25/12/2024 07:56

I've been awake since 7, still lying in bed and heard DS 11 alarm go off at 7.45.
He's not appeared yet though so he must either have fallen back to sleep or sending his Christmas Snaps.
DD will stay in bed until she hears someone else get up.

Jellycatspyjamas · 25/12/2024 07:59

My DD13 came into bed with me at 5 this morning, we lay chatting til the dog needed out around 6.30, by 7.00 she had woken DS11. Christmas is tricky for her so it was good to see her so excited.

My 8 year old is but he's just watching tv as he wants to wait for his brother to wake up before he opens presents.

I'm contemplating waking him but he's not been well lately.

greengreyblue · 25/12/2024 08:01

No but they’re 24 and 20. DH has just gone down to let the dog out and make a cup of tea which we’ll have in bed before the big day . Happy Christmas all! 🌲

mondaytosunday · 25/12/2024 08:06

@HelloCheekyCat watched that for the first time the other night and thought it was dreadful!
You guys with little kids are probably now collecting bits of wrapping paper and wondering if it's too early to have a mimosa!
I have a 19 and 21 year old and last night the 19 year old said 10am might be a push... so wait people you will get a lie in one year..

Artart · 25/12/2024 08:09

I ended up with son in bed, DH swapped into his bed. dD8 was up at 7.30 but stayed in room until 8. Teens will need a marching band through their room soon. I’m going to drink all the coffee.

I am very excited. Fairly positive Santa has been….squeeeee

merry Christmas everyone.

PrettyFox · 25/12/2024 08:09

My DS (3) woke up 20 minutes ago and really unbothered with Christmas/presents. I showed him the presents and he asked for toast with peanut butter and a babyccino 😂 he is now having those, I imagine that after having his tummy full the excitement will kick in. Merry Christmas to all!

Perfect

My sympathies to those with early risers! Hopefully you'll get a post prandial sooze later. Teens are still asleep - we all turned in at about 00.30 after realising late in the evening that we'd yet to watch The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Dcat1 on the other hand is raring to go and has just shouted at me to get up and make breakfast.

Tiredmumtoboy · 25/12/2024 08:15

My 3 year old is still asleep! How! WHY!?

fungibletoken · 25/12/2024 08:17

Toddler still dozing - long may it last 😁

AmyW9 · 25/12/2024 08:18

Toddler (2) is still asleep! She's been poorly and we desperately need her well for today, so going to let her snooze as long as she wants. Currently drinking coffee downstairs on my own in perfect rare silence.

Stillwearingskinnies · 25/12/2024 08:19

Not a peep from ds15 and ds12. DH and I are having a nice cuppa in bed before the chaos

Keeponkeepigon · 25/12/2024 08:25

Children still asleep here. The didn’t wake till 10am last year but i’m hoping for earlier today! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas 🎄

Cluelesssanta · 25/12/2024 08:27

My 14yo is still asleep! When I was little, it was my teen sisters sending me along to parents room 4am, to wake them up. Lovely memories. Parents were just as excited as us - both gone now.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 25/12/2024 08:28

Normal wake up time here but my little boy doesn't understand what Christmas is (he is profoundly disabled). He got five new Tonies in his stocking that I am opening one by one so he can listen to them and I can sneak a lie in before family arrive.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 25/12/2024 08:38

DS (7) came into our room at 1am and turned the lights on. We took him back to bed and he and his brother woke up again at 7am.

Tumbleweed101 · 25/12/2024 08:51

I just woke up at 8.30am. Quiet house as my children (who are home tonight) are 15 and 18.

There haven’t been many years I’ve woken up in daylight on Christmas morning. I will have to get up soon though as I’m hosting dinner.

ChronicallySleepy · 25/12/2024 09:03

DD3 was gifted a little puppy vet toy. One of those ones that runs around and yaps every 5 seconds. I'm going to be hearing that thing in my sleep.

Is it too early to open the Bailey's?

TubeScreamer · 25/12/2024 09:30

16 and 18 yo here. They won’t be awake for hours yet,
