DS(5) has been awake over an hour. After half an hour or so he came into bed with us (so he doesn't wake his smaller sibling) and we're categorically not doing gifts for at least two more hours. But, he cannot sleep.

It's going to be a long day!!

My kids are in their 30s married and one has a baby lol but I've been awake since 5 am
I got up and I'm enjoying a coffee with the tress lights on and it's so quiet...
I miss the days of 'has he been ?' Ha ha
But I'll take a picture of their Father Christmas pressies and send it to them and tell them He's been !!

My DDs are now 20 and 22, home from university for Christmas. I still do stockings. At some point you stop sneaking in at night to deliver the stockings (they're still awake after I go to bed) and start sneaking in in the morning (they'll still be asleep past 10am...) I wake up early, so stockings are delivered now, the cat has been fed and has gone to get into bed with one of them while I have a quiet cup of coffee.

I’ve a little person beside me in bed here since 6am … trying some delay tactics or day will be very long

Talkabtit101 · 25/12/2024 06:17

No, DD was diagnosed with a chest infection yesterday after a 5 day cold/flu.

Was up most last night coughing too so I don't think we'll be doing Xmas today we'll be leaving it till tomorrow.

yellowjellytot · 25/12/2024 06:17

5 ‘kids’ (ranging from 9-27) are still asleep.DH and I wide awake 🤣

PopGoesBang · 25/12/2024 06:17

Dd11 soundo still, I wasn't sure how she would do as this year is her first year of helping create the magic for her little sister (2). She was full of excitement last night and I thought maybe that would bubble over but so far both still asleep,
DH got up to take the dogs out, but I woke to the sound of the carpet cleaner, which means DDog(7) has had a wee on the carpet.

Going to go and make a cuppa and see if we can enjoy that quietly once DH is back from the walk.

Merry Christmas everyone.

petitebleu · 25/12/2024 06:17

DS20 is awake but in bed with a Christmas hangover and I've been up since 5ish, I've iced the Christmas cake and now enjoying a coffee and some Christmas radio. I don't miss the years of getting woken up before 4!

Rainbowchaser24 · 25/12/2024 06:19

Both my girls are at their dads this year.. I'm downstairs as couldn't sleep (28 weeks pregnant) had horrible heartburn overnight and uncomfortable. Husband and dog asleep upstairs!

Hope you all have a lovely day - Happy Christmas!

GetDownkeith · 25/12/2024 06:19

My dc are 14,18 & 21 so I’m the only one awake. This is actually now the latest start to Christmas morning we’ve had. Ds1 was always an early riser anyway but I have been known to wake them up because I’ve been too excited.
Same as @Letsgoforaskip I'm feeling a little nostalgic for those chaotic ridiculous early mornings this morning. They really are such fun times.
Happy Christmas everyone have a lovely day

ElsieElf · 25/12/2024 06:20

One of mine hasn't really slept at all as she started vomiting last night. I've text the rest of the family to say they need to make other arrangements for today because they probably don't want norovirus for Christmas.
We will be postponing Christmas food until everyone feels a bit better. 😢
Poor kid is terrified that Santa wouldn't come because she wasn't asleep.
I am so glad that for once, Santa had their shit together and everything was wrapped in the garage. It was just a case of putting it out. Years gone by of building toy kitchens etc this would have been a nightmare.

Whatanidiot123 · 25/12/2024 06:23

My three year old is awake - but he’s in our bed where he has been since around midnight. He’s not twigged that Santa might have been but is awake early because he went to bed early yesterday after getting totally hyped and over excited! DD (6) is still asleep. I suspect it won’t be long before she wakes, as she’s usually up around now.

Catlover1705 · 25/12/2024 06:24

My kids are adults but I remember them waking at 3am one year. It was a one-off though.

anonny55 · 25/12/2024 06:25

I've been awake for hours! Because of the baby in my stomach doing sucker punches which keep waking me up and the 500 runs to the toilet I have to do every night. The joys😆

stopringingme · 25/12/2024 06:27

DD woke at 3am. saying it's Christmas day, we need to go downstairs to see if Santa has been.

I persuaded her to go back to sleep, and she woke up at just gone 6am.

She is watching tv in my bed whilst I get myself together.

Genehuntsfanclub · 25/12/2024 06:27

I've been awake since 5am to make sure DS aged 21 got up when his alarm went off. He's at work all day. Merry Christmas fellow early risers.

BarbaraHoward · 25/12/2024 06:30

Any minute now I'd say here. I'm enjoying a minute of peace before the madness starts.

yipyipyop · 25/12/2024 06:33

No. I have a 4 year old ds and 2 month old ds. The baby is just going back to sleep after a feed. The 4 year old knows not to expect presents in the middle of the night.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 25/12/2024 06:33

I am usually the first ip. Having a nice cuppa to myself before the chaos and it's bliss. Will wake the. About 7 if they aren't up by then.

BigHoops · 25/12/2024 06:41

Mine woke at 5.30 (aged 7 and 9). My fault though as I am sharing a room with them and really needed a wee so probably woke them up! Last year they actually slept in...

Sending strength and caffeine to all those who need it today - and Merry Christmas!

BigHoops · 25/12/2024 06:43

And sorry to those who are ill or have ill DC, I really hope you all feel better soon and can move it to another day.

Boohoolol · 25/12/2024 06:48

Still asleep. Our son (9), isn’t an early riser,. Most years I have ended up having to wake him up around 9am.

the irony is that I was up at 4am every year as a kid

Lampzade · 25/12/2024 06:49

So sweet to think about all the excited children. Brings back memories.
Mine are in their teens and early twenties.
My six foot strapping nineteen year old son asked if I was going to put out a stocking for him.
Merry Christmas to you all

Moonchildalltheway · 25/12/2024 06:52

DS20 and DD18 asleep but I have been awake since 6!!

Peanut91 · 25/12/2024 06:54

Amazingly both mine (6 and 3) are still fast asleep!
