Are your kids awake yet?

DS(5) has been awake over an hour. After half an hour or so he came into bed with us (so he doesn't wake his smaller sibling) and we're categorically not doing gifts for at least two more hours. But, he cannot sleep.

It's going to be a long day!!

@JamNittyGritty you've clearly raised your kids right!

My two are still asleep (3.5 and 1.5), but I've been up since 5am with excitement. If they don't wake in the next half an hour, I'm going to start opening presents without them! 😂

birchtree23 · 25/12/2024 07:27

DD woke me up at 4 but went back to sleep but was woken up again to the sound of my dog spewing downstairs so definitely awake as my adrenaline going after jumping out of bed as quick as a flash 😂.
Merry Christmas 🎄

Theredjellybean · 25/12/2024 07:29

My four girls are 20-26 and their boyfriends/ fiance's are all still sleeping...
My DP is snoring, my dexh and his partner ( who are here for Christmas)are up and we're just heading out with the dogs to the beach...I do not miss the chaos of the younger years...I found it hugely stressful.
Love teens, young adults

I can hear my 1 year old playing in his cot but my 4 year old is still asleep 😮 she rarely sleeps this late!

TheChosenTwo · 25/12/2024 07:29

Sorry to all those with poorly people in the household whose Christmases will look different than planned 😭

I woke up about an hour ago, dh still asleep
so I’ve come downstairs.
Our dc are all bigger now but even when small they never woke up extra early because it was Christmas. Dh and I used to be laying in bed really excited for them to wake up and used to give up and wake them at 8:30!

MyDeftDuck · 25/12/2024 07:32

Yes, one is on the way to work and the other will be out with the dog. Merry Christmas !

sexnotgenders · 25/12/2024 07:34

@Broken12 oh absolutely. Why today of all days do they decide to sleep late!

JumpstartMondays · 25/12/2024 07:35

Nope! Mine are 4 and 1, they had a sleepover in the same bedroom last night so took ages to get to sleep because they were chatting and giggling and the eldest kept checking for Santa out the window 🤭 too cute. Don't imagine they'll be awake until after 8am! I'm the first one awake

Might get up and enjoy a brew and take 5mins peace!

CuteOrangeElephant · 25/12/2024 07:35

DD7 slept in til 8 and forgot all about the presents!

Magnoliasunrise · 25/12/2024 07:36

DC are now teens and I had to ask them last night what is the earliest I can wake you up please? Coz I'm sooooooooo excited.
I've been awake since 6am, had a coffee and fed the cat. Might start opening bedroom doors at 8am.
Another one here nostalgic for those 5/6am starts - don't wish them away, it flies by.

XmasTimeNoSnow · 25/12/2024 07:37

I've just stood outside ds bedroom and he's actually gone back to sleep as I can hear him lightly snoring. I think the worry that Santa might not come was keeping him awake.

BrendaSmall · 25/12/2024 07:40

lol 5 year old GD hasn’t been to bed!
Shes not happy because she hasn’t seen Santa, it’s morning the street lights have came on and she’s got no presents yet 🤣🤣🤣

Lolypoly14 · 25/12/2024 07:40

No. Mine are 19 and 23 so will be asleep for ages yet.

Doggo got me up at 7 to go out for a wee but she’s fucked off back to bed and I’m here wide awake

She stayed awake all night?

HappyLittleTreeFriend · 25/12/2024 07:45

Mine are still asleep, they're 6 and 3 - they didn't get off to sleep until about half 9 last night but still come on guys wake up! I'm the only one awake atm but just laying in bed relaxing for now 😊

pinkstripeycat · 25/12/2024 07:47

😂 no. DS19 woke me up at 3am GOING to bed rather than waking up for presents!

He promised he’d be up for 10am so he’s at the table for Christmas dinner. The years went by SO fast 😢

Soccermumamir · 25/12/2024 07:47

OH and boys are still in bed lol Boys are 18 and 11. I love this part of the day. The calm before the storm lol I'm sat watching GMB with a cup of coffee and can not wait to see the boys faces when they open their gifts. This is my favourite time for me though all day. I've been feeling a bit flat this week, but starting to pick up again 😊

mrssunshinexxx · 25/12/2024 07:47

3 and 4 year old still fast asleep 7.50am we are in center parcs so they are exhausted from all the walking I think! Newborn baby is up though 😂

DD(8) woke me up at 4.20, she's gone back to bed but I'm wide awake listening to DH's ridiculously loud snoring. I've bought him a mouth guard for Xmas and I'm tempted to wake him up and give it to him now!

I'll get up after 6, turn the tree lights on and make a cuppa.

🤣🤣 love this. I need to buy my OH one aswell lol

BrendaSmall · 25/12/2024 07:50

Littletreefrog · 25/12/2024 07:41

She stayed awake all night?

Yes!
she’s not much of a sleeper at the best of times, just like my daughter, I’d be lucky if she slept 3/4 hours

Oddsquadnumber1 · 25/12/2024 07:50

No, DD 6 is still asleep. She didn't go to sleep until nearly 10 last night so not surprised.

Crazycactuslady · 25/12/2024 07:51

DS 4 has been up since 5am with whatever the latest germs sent from school might be. Sore throat, headache and raging temperature.

He’s unwrapped some gifts and eaten sherbet for breakfast… but exhausted again now. It’ll be a slooooow day for us, I think.

Alwaysonyourleft · 25/12/2024 07:51

Dd (3) is still asleep which is absolutely unheard of. She struggled to get over last night with the excitement so I think she is catching up on the lost sleep.
DH snoring away. I'm poorly so haven't slept well. Listening to the neighbour children outside on new bikes which is just lovely.

Merry Christmas everyone!

FinnJuhl · 25/12/2024 07:52

This is the first Christmas that my visiting DM has woken me up rather than the kids, clattering round the kitchen, making her morning cup of tea. I could tell she was trying to be so quiet, bless her.
