What's the first thing you'd buy if you won the lottery?

Say about £7mil?

My first purchase of luxury, that I would be able to do immediately, would be some gorgeous Chanel sunglasses. .

Then a parajumpers coat.

Then new teeth.

Then the farm house etc.

It's my favourite maladaptive daydream.

Resign on the spot and retire.

Pay off mortgage and buy holiday home somewhere sunny, plus the fanciest motor home money can buy. Buy out my ex-BIL's share of my DSis house so she can live there forever.

Would I move house? Hard to say. I live in a rough area but it's home, and I don't really need any more space.

And if I'm honest, lipo and new teeth.

HappyMe6 · 22/12/2024 22:11

make sure my family were looked after. Extend on the house we live in ,private health insurance for us, bank the rest

coxesorangepippin · 22/12/2024 22:13

New house(s)
New car
Quit work
I wouldn't move from our area. I like it and I like the schools

I'd have a lot more holidays

coxesorangepippin · 22/12/2024 22:14

Oh yeah some surgery too

Probably bite the bullet and start dying my hair

TribulationPeriwinkle · 22/12/2024 22:14

@MrsSethGecko I’d also like a house on Princelet Street, please. We could be neighbours.

In the meantime, I’d buy a holiday cottage with land, for my DD to run wild in. And a sensory room. And a swimming pool.

A new(ish) car each for DP and me.

Specialist SEND childcare so DP and I could have the occasional evening out together.

Roastitcheese · 22/12/2024 22:15

I’d cancel work for good then take a holiday asap to chill and decide what to do with it.

Likely sell my house and travel the world before buying an isolated house near the sea somewhere.
Maybe start my own animal sanctuary too.

notprincehamlet · 22/12/2024 22:20

I'd get a haircut, crank up the central heating until it was so warm I didn't have to wear my coat indoors, and buy a one-way plane ticket out of this dump.

Heatherbell1978 · 22/12/2024 22:20

Also my favourite daydream. I'm a planner and very organised - I'd probably book myself (and maybe DH!) into the nicest hotel money can buy in the city in live and plan away champagne in hand! Immediately I'd just repay the mortgage and credit cards and book a family holiday. Longer term, house, car etc but not sure if I'd give up work. But the thought of working but not having to is quite appealing!

SealsAreCute · 22/12/2024 22:22

A really posh facial for me
New car for husband
New roof on house
New dd bedroom
A Gardiner
AI holiday

DaisyDukesAuntie · 22/12/2024 22:23
  1. sailing lessons
  2. a yacht capable of sailing to the Mediterranean and Greek Islands
StopStartStop · 22/12/2024 22:25

My late father's house.

wigsonthegreenandhatsforthelifting · 22/12/2024 22:25

Retire!!

HPandthelastwish · 22/12/2024 22:26

The house 3 mins from where I live now, it overlooks the beach and has an annex my parents could live in. I dream of living in a house overlooking the sea, but some fucker keeps buying all the houses on the promenade and modernising them so they now all cost a fuckton and are all the same square with giant windows whereas before they were all different.

It's only 1.2 million so plenty left over

Backfromhols · 22/12/2024 22:27

A Birkin 25 in orange with palladium hardwear!

HaddyAbrams · 22/12/2024 22:27

A house. Just a little one to tide me over while I searched for "the one". Like literally one on the road I'm on now so moving would be easy Grin

Onthetubetoday · 22/12/2024 22:28

I can’t honestly think of anything I’d immediately spend it on. I wouldn’t buy cars or jewellery and have teeth already.

I don’t think I’d hand my notice in to work. I’d continue to work with the joy of knowing I didn’t have to and wait for the opportune moment to tell them where to stick their job.

After having time to think about it, I’d probably buy a flat in central London so I could wander over to work in the mornings and not bother with the tube and keep it as a bolthole.

Chipshopninja · 22/12/2024 22:28

I'd get straight on rightmove and look for a house

I would book a massive cottage somewhere lovely to treat my extended family to a holiday

A 4 wheel drive car

DesteB · 22/12/2024 22:29

Someone i know had a similar amount of money. The firstnthing he bought was a Ferrari, A Mercedes wagon type car for his wife. He then bought a £50000 pound Rolex and bought his wife a Faberge egg necklace for £12000.

GentlemanJack · 22/12/2024 22:31

A dry house that doesn't have streaming wet walls.
Driving lessons, new teeth, new massive bed with lovely bedding.
Oh, and Netflix.

EmeraldDreams73 · 22/12/2024 22:33

A long holiday to decide what to do with the money.

Buy my brother a house.

Pay off everyone's mortgages

Buy and renovate my dream home

New cars

Private healthcare

New teeth

More holidays

Oh, and give up bloody work! That should move to first on the list.

TheM55 · 22/12/2024 22:33

I think I would go away for a few days, possibly even on my own, or with one person I trusted to think things through. I would probably tell work I was sick. I think I would also get a confidential financial advisor. I am from a large loving family and would help them all, but I would have to get it straight in my head first, and I could not be doing with noise (however happy). However, not to dampen the thread with too much sensibleness, I would love to travel first class. I would probably set my children up in business so they could do something they loved and also help others by employing them rather than just a "well that's that then, no more work for you son". God I sound boring, mind, I don't even like champagne ! xx

WhatIDoIsEnough · 22/12/2024 22:34

A house any house just one we can call ours

CrocCottage · 22/12/2024 22:34

New house, then I’d replace our ikea furniture with lovely wood furniture, buy loads of plants for our new garden, a greenhouse to grow our own food, a campervan, savings in the bank for dcs, buy a new car for my mum & dad, help family out, go abroad (1st time in years) get my hair done at a fancy salon, donate some to local schools. Then I’d get some advice on how to invest.

Drreamingthedaysaway · 22/12/2024 22:36

A case of champagne
upgrade our next holiday flights to business class
Pay off mortgage
Buy dc a house each
New front door

Thepossibility · 22/12/2024 22:36

Pay off our mortgage and car loan. Pump up retirement savings. Put money away for children. Buy DH a nice car (I'd have to insist.) Besides that not much besides maybe buy DC more expensive name branded clothes rather than the cheapest. No way I'd piss the money away on anything designer. If I felt I had the money to do that it would be going to family and charities first.
