What's the first thing you'd buy if you won the lottery?

Say about £7mil?

My first purchase of luxury, that I would be able to do immediately, would be some gorgeous Chanel sunglasses. .

Then a parajumpers coat.

Then new teeth.

Then the farm house etc.

It's my favourite maladaptive daydream.

I think the first thing I buy would be quite some time after the win. Probably a house but it'd take ages to choose where and what, I'd definitely get an interior designer to just do it all though.

Then see what money can do in terms of improving my families health and giving by SN DC some sort of security for their future.

7 million in a basic savings account paying 4.00 would give you over 23k before tax. A MONTH. Just in interest. I don't know how you'd even begin to spend that kind of money each month. The fact that you'd still have all that capital left blows my mind.

Deleted because I am stupid and misread

A new house. A personal trainer. A divorce attorney.

mumda · 22/12/2024 21:45

Heating on full until I buy a new house. Swap this house into son's name if that's whee he wants to live (he isn't keen on moving to near my mum)
Takeaway. Chinese. Absolutely loads of stuff
Then a new car each. A camper van when we've moved. A nice small one.
I'd tell my mum to put her heating on as much as she wants too. Although I wouldn't tell her I'd won the lottery, I'd just tell her I'd got a bonus at work.

A holiday to decide how to spend the money, but first a quick shop to buy my family and me a new holiday wardrobe!

Exactly this 😎🌞

Temporaryname158 · 22/12/2024 21:47

A holiday to the Maldives to ponder what to do with the rest of it.

Number one would be to pay off the mortgage but after that I’d have to think!

Fireishot · 22/12/2024 21:55

Baffled at those who'd take out private health care insurance surely you'd just pay for any health care as and when?

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 22/12/2024 21:55

A house of my own for me and the dcs. And some amazing pans. And a load of new clothes.

And that is it.

IBlameTheDog · 22/12/2024 21:55

A laparoscopy for my DD 😕

latetonews · 22/12/2024 21:56

First class tickets to anywhere. I'd just love to experience the first class cabin.

BowTiesPinkTail · 22/12/2024 21:56

Freedom (I would quit my job, basically - it consumes my thoughts constantly and I find it horribly stressful).

Actual physical items would be a house (we rent at present and I'm not convinced we are ever going to be able to buy).

NantesElephant · 22/12/2024 21:58

A specialist in selling companies and a visa application to live overseas.

House in my favourite spot in the Lake District, 10 golden retrievers, boat for DH, houses for all my DC, and an expensive haircut!

10 ?? 😂. Retrievers are amazing though

RickiRaccoon · 22/12/2024 22:00

I'd buy champagne, get cataract surgery for my dog, go to the dentist, get a bunch of nice clothes for my kids and me and get tradies in to fix up our house and garden.

Crikeyalmighty · 22/12/2024 22:01

Got to be a house as we rent

comedycentral · 22/12/2024 22:02

The first thing I'd do is book a holiday somewhere so I can just reset my brain and body and get my thoughts together. It's a life changing sum.

MikeRafone · 22/12/2024 22:03

A nice cow, preferably with horns

WaitingforStrike · 22/12/2024 22:04

I would pay off my best friend's mortgage. I'd love to do that. And hand my resignation in at work.

MikeRafone · 22/12/2024 22:04

I’d definitely get the sack from work

so they didn’t suspect

FuckItItsFine · 22/12/2024 22:06

A new kitchen.

EveryDayisFriday · 22/12/2024 22:07

I think I'd really struggle to spend it. Maybe an annual gym pass at a fancy spa type gym

Cynic17 · 22/12/2024 22:08

Holidays booked, obviously.
But my first thought is that I'd buy a beautiful mansion flat, somewhere like South Kensington..... actually £7 million probably wouldn't be enough for that. But certainly a nice flat in London, so I could be there whenever I wanted (not full time), and sample all the galleries, theatres, restaurants etc.

ilikecatsandponies · 22/12/2024 22:08

£7m?
First I'd book a really nice summer holiday. Then I'd pay off the mortgage.
There are a couple of charities I support that have some wish list items that I would love to be able to just tick off, so I would do that.

WinterCrow · 22/12/2024 22:09

Microgal · 22/12/2024 19:52

A house

Yes, I'd be a big house where we all can live 🎶

Separate floors everyone! In London. I wonder if £7 million would even cover it and the running costs for a few years? I need to think this through a bit more ...

EveryDayisFriday · 22/12/2024 22:10

Oh, I've had a thought, I'd finish this house off, new kitchen and bathroom. Yep I'd book 2 weeks in Maui, first class flights.
