Also what present are you most excited to give.
Mine is a zip up fur cardigan. I love it so much I have bought a second one, even though it will probably be cheaper in the sales.

My best present Is for my lovely DiL. It is 3 photo blocks photographs of her children which she admired. I asked her if she would like some copies and she said yes. She has probably forgotten. I have added another one of her dad with the eldest. Chatting away like he is 70 rather than his grandad. I often go out with her dad who was left a widower recently and this was taken in a cafe unbeknown to them.

What a lovely thread.

I'm most excited to give my DS a minion bathbomb from lush, think it'll be the highlight of the year for him!

For myself I have bought 1metre of blush coloured crepe de chine silk to make a slip as I couldn't find one i liked. I'm also buying a little bit of pretty lace for the hem - that's going to be so much fun!

That is lovely. A slip brings back so many memories. After the cookery apron it was the next thing we made at school. I hated needlework at school, but loved it after I left. I made most of mine and my children’s clothes.

I'm most excited to give my daughter her book embosser. She has no idea and I'm looking fwd to her seeing it.

I bought myself new bedroom windows! It's lovely in there now

Oooh I’m most excited to receive a perfume I chose. It’s a lovely spicy, warm vanilla. Perfect for winter.

I’m really excited to give DH some trainers he’s been admiring for a year but couldn’t afford as they are not necessarily “needed”.

Excellent present buying Op.

I also bought myself some gel pens for completing my logic problems. The cheapest present but the one that gives me a silly amount of pleasure.

A pair of winter boots in the Black Friday sale. They're for wearing in snowy/icy weather. We've fairly mild winters here, so they'll only be needed for a handful of days each year. But it's reassuring to know that they're in the house if I need them.

Middlemarch123 · 18/12/2024 08:50

@Lillixyng That is such a lovely thoughtful present for your DIL, I bet she’ll be really touched.
My best present to myself was a heated throw that I got in the Black Friday sales.
Best present for others- I do stockings for my adult kids, although they’re in their late twenties they still love a stocking, as do their partners! Anyway, we lost their grandma this year and when I was sorting through all her photos I found an old black and white photo of her and my lovely dad, who we lost a few years ago. I’d never seen it before, they look so young and happy, I cried when I saw it. They met when mum was 15 and he was 18, mum was 18 when they married, so I guess she was about 17 in the photo. They were married for over 65 years! So I’ve had copies made and put the photos in nice old fashioned frames, and popped one in each of my kids stockings. I hope they like them.

Massive amount of M&S prawn cocktail.

Randomname83738 · 18/12/2024 09:17

I’ve found tickets for a really obscure band my DH likes (they were his most played on spotify last year) and I don’t think he knows they’re doing a couple of UK dates so will be a big surprise.

its one of his smaller presents, but my DS (3) is really into pirates and talks about telescopes ALL THE TIME. Regularly pretending loo roll tubes are telescopes. He got a plastic one in his advent calendar he LOVED but lost almost immediately. I’ve got him a little gold expanding telescope that comes in a wooden box. Was only £7 or so but looks the real deal. We’ve got him some other piratey bits (a box of treasure, a treasure map) and I’ve got him some clues so I’m going to lay out a little treasure trail for him with a pirate thing and a clue at each “stop”, and the box of treasure at the end. It doesn’t exactly scream Christmas but I think he’ll love it! We’ve also got him a second hand wooden pirate ship and castle with Papo figures and which I think he’ll love.

Also just wanted to say you seem like a really lovely MIL, that’s such a thoughtful present. As someone who also has a lovely MIL, you’re DIL is very lucky to have you!

@Middlemarch123 , please can you tell me what you put in the adult kids stockings if they are boys. I'm at a complete loss and getting depressed i have nothing.

She tells me that practically every time she sees me. For me, it is such a privilege to have her in my life. After her mum died she told me she only had one mum left now. Both of us snot filled and wretched we just clung to each other.

I lost my dad when my eldest two were babies, so I really feel for her.

@ssd so three boys adult stockings to fill here! I’ll just list the stuff that goes down well - socks from Amazon in their favourite team colours, with greatest fan on the bottom. Miniature spirits, usually from Lidl, ditto Xmas lollipops, sweets from Lidl. Two lads have dogs so got some doggy treats and fold up water bowls because they both take dogs for long walks. Toblerones, some nice Hotel Chocolat liqueurs, set of playing cards, Southpark slippers (for my son), scratch cards, rubic cube for one. I just grab bits from September onwards, there a mix of good stuff and tat to be honest. Last year ds said ‘there’s no Lynx mum’ in mock horror, the Lynx was a running joke for years because he hates the stuff. Hope that helps a bit.

Elodie09 · 18/12/2024 17:10

@Randomname83738 Your lovely post about your little pirate made me tear up.
The little gold telescope and treasure hunt map sound so sweet and proves things don't have to cost a lot!
Have a wonderful christmas.

Cooriedoon · 18/12/2024 18:47

I bought myself a treadmill. My present to myself is improving my current fitness levels!
I'm looking forward to giving my dad his coffee machine, he doesn't have one and loves proper coffee's at mine.
