What is the best thing you have bought for yourself this Christmas.

Also what present are you most excited to give.
Mine is a zip up fur cardigan. I love it so much I have bought a second one, even though it will probably be cheaper in the sales.

My best present Is for my lovely DiL. It is 3 photo blocks photographs of her children which she admired. I asked her if she would like some copies and she said yes. She has probably forgotten. I have added another one of her dad with the eldest. Chatting away like he is 70 rather than his grandad. I often go out with her dad who was left a widower recently and this was taken in a cafe unbeknown to them.

For my work bestie, a churros maker. I know they're her favourite snack 😋

For my DH, a vintage/retro style Casio digital watch which I know he'll love, and a pocket-size pair of binoculars.

For me, a dress from Apricot, some black suede mary-jane shoes with lovely heels and a metallic khaki Zoeva eyeliner 🙂

Happy Christmas everyone! 🎄

I'm a bit puzzled that you're all buying yourself gifts.
Loving the pirate presents!!!

I only get a couple of little things otherwise. Mum gives me some money and some little bits. I don't have a partner. Child isn't able to do it yet and ex-husband has never supported him to get me anything even when I've done it for him.

I now buy myself birthday and Christmas presents. I think it's healthy. Makes me happy.

Chipshopninja · 18/12/2024 22:44

I haven't bought myself anything

Present I'm most excited to give is probably the theatre ticket for my mum to go with my son (he's a drama kid so have got him a ticket for Christmas too)

Normally I'm more excited about the presents I'm giving but I have lacked inspiration this year. Now I have the dreaded twitch!

Londoneye20 · 18/12/2024 22:48

Never heard of buying yourself presents tho

CurbsideProphet · 18/12/2024 23:06

It's a To Me, From Me in my family 🙂
Why shouldn't anyone buy nice things for themselves?

squashyhat · 18/12/2024 23:10

For me (thanks to a mumsnet thread earlier today) a bargainaceous Joe Browns dress to wear on Boxing Day when we see the rellies. For someone else - a Japanese joke book for my DH. Not as random as you might think - he is learning the language and we are going back there on holiday next year. Just need to buttonhole some poor randoms to test the jokes out on Grin

longtompot · 18/12/2024 23:13

What lovely thoughtful gifts on this thread☺️
I think for my dd, a pair of trainers she wanted to buy in the summer but were sold out and will absolutely not be expecting.

rebelrun · 18/12/2024 23:19

Not this year but previous bought my son a multi pack of patterned cellotape and some cardboard (recycled). He was into model making and was so very delighted.
My other DS really wanted chewing gum (was not usually allowed). He was very excited.
Another year, one ask for a bag of carrots 🤔 also gratefully received.
They also received more expensive items but these are the ones that are most remembered.
Best gift to myself this year…warm fluffy PJs and a key ring charger for my Apple Watch.

I am so happy that I started this thread. It is a chance to peep into people’s hearts. So many brilliant ideas from kind and generous people. I think this is the true spirit of Christmas, getting more pleasure from giving than receiving.

I have been given ideas so, I had no idea there was such a thing as a churro maker and am definitely going to check it out. Also don’t know what a book embossed is but it sounds fascinating.

As for buying presents for oneself it was not some I had thought of either. I just happened to buy myself it this fur zip up cardigan and loved it so much. However this is definitely a trend I am going to start.

I got myself a new fitbit as my old one had bitten the dust. I felt lost without one.

I’m excited for my son to see his spidey dino web crawler as he’s been asking for 1 for months!

ImWearingPantaloons · 19/12/2024 07:52

Some cranberry and orange fizzy wine from M&S, and some party nibbles

Both to be consumed on Christmas Eve after my 9 hour shift.

Taytocrisps · 19/12/2024 07:54

The present I'm most excited to give is a Lego Wicked set to my adult DD (she's 19). She loves Lego and we saw the show Wicked a few months ago. I got her the clothes she asked for, but I like to throw in a surprise or two.

@Middlemarch123 , please can you tell me what you put in the adult kids stockings if they are boys. I'm at a complete loss and getting depressed i have nothing.

My adult boys are getting food treats (cat shaped tins of bo jangles chocs, fancy coffee and cheese snd chutney) a paperback book, some thick winter socks, shaving and bathing stuff.

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 19/12/2024 08:48

@Lillixyng I started buying myself a nice present after I got divorced. Something I would consider too much of a splurge mid year. I think it’s a fine tradition 😁.

BlackeyedSusan · 19/12/2024 08:57

Needles for sewing in wool pesky ends.

They disappear. I can't find the ball of wool the last one was hidden in. Hopefully I won't accidentally sit on it!

Lillixyng · 19/12/2024 14:54

Update. So today I went up to London to collect by jacket. Coming out of the station near home I tripped and smacked my face on the pavement. Blood everywhere passers buy stopping to help. Someone called an ambulance, fortunately I was able to speak to them and tell them it was not needed. Hit my face not my head and foreheads always bleed profusely. Now had to cancel today’s hair appointment.

The icing on the cake, they have given me the wrong colour jacket.

@Middlemarch123, I've got 2 adults DS's and a daughter and sons girlfriend to make stockings for. DS1 a belt, pants, socks, L'Oréal toiletries set in a wash bag, gel ink cartridges for his Waterman pen, a game of Uno No Mercy, a cooking tray and Santa spatula because he likes baking, a bottle of Captain Morgan's rum, a long sleeved T shirt, a hoody, a cherry air freshener for his car, Toby carvery voucher and a chocolate orange. I've also got him 8 rib eye steaks, a whole salmon and I'll get him a large fruit basket as he's trying to eat healthier. DS2 belt, a new expensive kitchen knife because he likes cooking from scratch, spatulas and cooking spoons in silicon, Dove for men toiletries set, a Toblerone, a Guinness T Shirt, a hoody, a book, Sizzling Pubs vouchers, foot cream, socks, an air freshener for his car, 2 x bags of coffee beans, long handled teaspoons because he always wants mine. DD a gold and sapphire necklace, blond shampoo, retinol eye cream, 2 x face masks, hand cream, Lindor chocolates, gloves, perfume, a travel cup, electric toothbrush and €200 to spend on her holiday. DS2 GF a gold and diamond necklace in her initial, paint by numbers, tapestry kit, face mask x 2, Toby voucher, Lindor chocolates, hand cream, air freshener for her car, hot chocolate orange sachets x 3. In the past I've found Superman socks and Star Wars coasters, Mandalorian T shirts, Darth Vader air fresheners, car cleaning kits, heated windscreen scrapers, electric blankets, a Firmino football autobiography, Costa voucher, selection pack, Ferrari keyring, Lego wildflowers.

Middlemarch123 · 19/12/2024 15:35

Sounds amazing @caringcarer . I’ve got big’proper’ presents too for all mine. But for some reason they all revert to 6 years old at Xmas, and love a stocking!

caringcarer · 19/12/2024 15:36

For anyone hard up this Xmas you can go online a download a free name a star. You can print out a certificate to give to them and it tells you which months you can view it in the sky and where to look.

piscofrisco · 19/12/2024 15:37

A cardigan from Zara and a posh tea tray

caringcarer · 19/12/2024 15:37

Name a star Staracle site.

piscofrisco · 19/12/2024 15:39

Most excited to give is a trip to Burgh Island for DH. We so need it and I know he will love it there.

YessicaHaircut · 19/12/2024 15:49

I have bought myself an OK beauty box after eyeing it up for months, they had a flash sale with extra £10 off plus an additional box thrown in free! I am so pleased; I will give the extra box to my sister.

DS asked for lots of things this year, we have kept it quite modest as he’s only 4 still. But looking forward to giving him a Fingerling monkey, he got one in the charity shop a few months ago which he absolutely loves but it doesn’t work, so think he’ll be over the moon to have one that talks and moves etc. Hoping I don’t have to take the batteries out by the end of Xmas Day as I’m sure he’ll be playing with it all day 😅
