Which chocolate bar saved your life?

I was interviewing most of yesterday, had loads to do and was generally feeling a bit meh and tired. My boss went out and came back with a curly wurly to pep me up. I bloody love a curly wurly. What chocolate bar really hits the spot for you?

This was about 40 years ago in Llanwrtyd - Meriel, if you're still out there, girl, I hope you're well...

Moo Free bunnycomb and Vego are my faves. I can demolish a large Vego bar in seconds and not feel any guilt 😁, but in my defence, I don't eat chocolate often.

Scrap what I've just said, the Love Raw 'Kinder Bueno' alternatives are absolutely divine, especially the white chocolate and salted caramel.

I was hill-walking with a much fitter friend, and we got to the top of one peak and I was spent, just empty of all energy like a flat battery, could not move... She gave me a Mars bar, and I swear I could feel the chocolate and sugary goodness surging into my bloodstream and replenishing me...

Hence I am here today and was not eaten by eagles.

I trad that as 'eaten by 'beagles' first time round 😂

Of course I did not really answer your question I just agreed that curly wurlys were great!

I have not had one 'save my life' but I love it when I am feeling down or just fancy chocolate and find some in a bag that I had forgotten about!!

Thevelvelletes · 11/12/2024 06:54

Curly wurlies sooo tiny now ,I remember when they came out they were longer and thicker..ooo er missus.

Nor them, indeed. No creatures, domesticated or wild, partook of my prone body!

😄

When I was in a stressful job I would look forward to a Jaffa bar from the canteen to keep me going ( not strictly a chocolate bar I know ). Other stress relieving bars or confectionary : star bar for its unctuous chewy peanut deliciousness, cool mint matchmakers because there is so much satisfaction in snapping them and they taste cold and a raspberry coconut ruffle bar which has been in the fridge, because of the flavour and texture. Slightly more expensive treat is the Green and Blacks milk chocolate ( blue packaging ) because it is so heavenly

Holy heck. Why have I never heard of a raspberry coconut ruffle bar? I've just googled it. Raspberry , coconut and dark chocolate!!! Three of my fave things. Adds to shopping list. Thank you. 🤩

Raspberry ruffle bars are generally only found in pound shops, B&M, Home Bargains or the like. They are amazing though and well worth hunting down. Two of my four teens love them so there is a constant supply in our house. I used to make my own, but when they are £1 for a pack of 5 and ready wrapped for sticking in a blazer pocket for school, I’m not sure why I bothered!

Cadbury dairy milk.
That beautiful creamy vanilla scent when you open the wrapper.

CheekyPombear · 27/03/2025 01:55

What happened to cadbury wishes?. I adored them.

mathanxiety · 27/03/2025 03:52

An almond Snickers or a big "sharing" (not on your nelly) bag of almond M&Ms.

Deathraystare · 27/03/2025 08:01

The small Toney Maloney milk chocolate bar. They are in the vending machine at work. Ready for when I need to sink my fangs into something......

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 27/03/2025 08:13

I’m not a big chocolate lover but truly believe that life is better with cheese in it and that if I ever need resuscitation that it could be achieved by wafting cheese under my nose.

twohotwaterbottles · 27/03/2025 22:18

I've changed allegiance as I've been introduced to Star Bars. OMG. If you need a pick me up, they are the business! 🥳

5 hours into a 7 hour drive across Europe having been up since 5am, stopped for petrol in Belgium, DH said do you want anything I said no I don't think so. He came out with an individual size bar of chocolate covered hazelnut praline, it was incredible and even better for not expecting anything at all, and having not considered where we were
