I was interviewing most of yesterday, had loads to do and was generally feeling a bit meh and tired. My boss went out and came back with a curly wurly to pep me up. I bloody love a curly wurly. What chocolate bar really hits the spot for you?

Twix, dipped in a strong mug of Yorkshire tea. Classy I am

muggletops · 10/12/2024 17:06

Ahh yes revels the chocolate lottery of lotteries 😋

TamiTaylorIsMyParentingGuru · 10/12/2024 17:14

Generally a Twirl (from the fridge), but if I am feeling physically weak from the horrible combo of low blood sugar and low blood pressure, and just need something to give me an instant sugar hit, then it has to be a Twix with a can of Coke.

When we lived in the US, we were able to buy some (extortionately priced) chocolate bars from the small British section in the grocery store or in the British shop, but they weren’t regular occurrences - (as in daily, which is my norm) - they were just far too expensive to do that. When I discovered (about 3/4 months after moving there) that the local Middle Eastern grocery store/deli sold a small selection of British products at normal British prices, and that 2 of those items were Dark Chocolate Bounties and Crunchies I got proper emotional. That first Bounty, inhaled in the car in a Texas parking lot before I even turned the engine on, was the best thing I have ever tasted and for the next few years, those Bounties got me through the hardest days of homesickness and stress.

I am gutted that they have been discontinued - they hold such emotional weight for me, as well as being one of the best chocolate bars ever created!

There's nothing like a curly wurly. It is my after dinner treat every night. But I think they really need to be kept in the fridge so that they are nice and brittle.

KindLemur · 10/12/2024 17:45

Absolutely must be a boost with a can of ice cold Diet Coke

or if with a coffee, a mint aero, share size

Occasionally found in a random garage. But old stocks are vanishing

I keep searching in random garages, newsagents and discount stores, but no luck yet. (I still search for mint feasts every summer when I’m buying ice cream bars despite not having found one in probably 25 years at least so I’ll probably still be looking for a dark chocolate bounties with my grandchildren in tow!)

cuttinganotheronion · 10/12/2024 18:18

A twix after having each of my four children followed by a cup of tea

Strawber · 10/12/2024 18:19

Malteasers sucked one by one

verabarbleen · 10/12/2024 18:21

Sooo many, star bar, crunchie , dairy milk I sometimes like a boost as I feel like it gives me energy 😂 I don't think it does but I swear there was an advert in the 90s that implied it did.

gingercat02 · 10/12/2024 18:22

Double decker or bar of galaxy

SereneCapybara · 10/12/2024 18:24

I am now post-meno but once a month every month, like clockwork, my brain would rage for a bag of Chilli ridged McCoys and a Snickers bar, no matter what else I'd had to east that day. And I would buy them and eat them at lightning speed and order would be restored. I dread to think the rage that would have been inflicted on Liverpool Street commuters if there hadn't been that little underground sweetshop that sold them both.

You are not wrong. Dark chocolate Bounties were a cut above other chocolate bars. How could they discontinue them but keep the bland and oily milk chocolate ones?

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 10/12/2024 18:31

There’s nothing thing like a KitKat when you’re seriously hangry!

Owly11 · 10/12/2024 18:41

These days nothing since cadburys chocolate started tasting like shit.

allmybooksarefromthelibrary · 10/12/2024 18:41

Double Decker here as well.

I had gestational diabetes with DD1 and hadn’t eaten any chocolate for a few months. She was then born 6 weeks early and spent a couple of weeks in SCBU, which was overall a fairly shit experience all round. But I had a double decker and a cuppa every afternoon which I actually remember with great pleasure.

Twix and Crunchie are my honourable mentions.

Genegeniehunt · 10/12/2024 18:45

I love anything with a shell so mini eggs/minstrels/smarties

QuackADoodleDoooo · 10/12/2024 18:51

Happy to see so many votes for Starbars. Please go out and buy them so they never get discontinued!

Justwantosay · 10/12/2024 18:56

Chocolate bar - A Wispa (multipack all in one go preferably)

I do like a giant bag of Galaxy Minstrels though. That's usually my cinema snack choice.

helloyoumums · 10/12/2024 19:02

Marvelous creations all the way! Minstrels and mini eggs as well

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 10/12/2024 19:22

Cadbury Boost every single time.

DazedAndConfused321 · 10/12/2024 19:22

Grzeski- a polish chocolate bar that is so good and so cheap. Also Polish choc brand E.Wedel. Their plain milk bar tastes almost like old Cadbury's

sprigatito · 10/12/2024 19:23

Boost. Aptly named.

Chocolately · 10/12/2024 19:29

I used to love a Drifter, sadly no longer made.
I make do with a Twirl.

Merloth · 10/12/2024 19:31

Milky bar, I went through a bit of a stage this year where I’d microwave it then dip crisps into it and it just brought me life 😂
