It’s wet and windy outside. What’s for dinner?

As above. What are you having tonight?

I’ve just started cobbling together a leek and chicken pie using an assortment of freezer odds and ends.

I’m going to copy some of these. They all sound amazing.

As for me, it’s just me as DD has gone to see Hamilton so I’m off to the pub for a starter of several pints, then a Chinese takeaway, collected on way home.

I had a £1 Iceland spaghetti bol for lunch, which was surprisingly enjoyable.

I've dusted off a pack of yellow sticker cooked chilli chicken chunks from the freezer which I'll pop in a sarnie with some coleslaw for tea.

Hedonism · 07/12/2024 17:48

Shepherds pie and 🍷, in front of the TV with a Christmas movie.

Dr13Hadley · 07/12/2024 17:50

We've had chicken goujons in front of the footy. I meant to make a nice homemade lentil and veg curry but ate half a box of chocolates at half past two then fell asleep for two hours 😳 I'm practising for Christmas obvs.

PatienceOfEngels · 07/12/2024 17:52

Meatballs with red wine gravy, mashed potato and broccoli.

Feelingstrange2 · 07/12/2024 17:55

We needed to go shopping but the roads are.dreadful so have taken the opportunity to empty part of the freezer and store and make room for Christmas...............

Today we made crumpets for lunch and a sausage and bean casserole for supper.

Tomorrow we have English breakfast (without eggs) and then for dinner roast chicken with freezer veg (Inc leeks in cheese which I'd made and frozen) .

MindatWork · 07/12/2024 17:56

We’ve also had a freezer tea tonight as we’re waiting for a Tesco delivery - sausage (fancy ones), chips (not fancy) and peas/sweetcorn for me and DD6. Dinner of champions 😆🌟

@mitogoshigg it's very much not authentic - I invented it a while ago in the hope my fussy kids would accept it as an alternative to the interminable spaghetti bol. Sweat 3 chopped onions, grated ginger and 1-2 grated carrot in ghee. Add minced garlic and spice blend of choice. Fry off a bit and then add a pack of chopped chicken thighs. Fry a bit more, stir in half a carton of passata and a chicken stock cube, and a couple of teaspoons of almond butter. Bubble up and then gradually add some plain yoghurt or skyr (maybe a cupful?) Splash of water if it's not runny enough. Simmer gently 20 mins, check seasoning. Quantities are all approximate!

A bit less than a cupful of yoghurt, upon reflection!

moggerhanger · 07/12/2024 18:00

@Imperrysmum it's on page 3 somewhere

Chocolatecoatedcrisps · 07/12/2024 18:01

Salt and vinegar crisps 😂 recovering from an operation and I’ve been craving a big bag for days and finally given in.

MrsCarson · 07/12/2024 18:08

I had cod nuggets and chips and Dh had a big burger with lots of onions.

MyBigFatGreekSalad · 07/12/2024 18:18

We've just had honey fried salmon, crispy potatoes and broccoli. Was delicious!

3peassuit · 07/12/2024 18:23

Beef in beer with sweet potato mash, broccoli and peas.

charabang · 07/12/2024 18:25

Cauliflower cheese and sausages. Yum!

HurdyGurdy19 · 07/12/2024 18:29

Husband has requested an old recipe from a 1970s Marke & Spencer cookbook, so we are having "Oven Baked Chicken" which is chicken breast covered in a mixture of crushed plain crisps, mixed with with grated cheddar, tarragon and garlic. I'll do jacket potatoes with it and a salad as a passing nod to "healthy".

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 07/12/2024 18:52

Egg, beans and chips

Windswept24 · 07/12/2024 18:58

Nice and simple pesto pasta with lots of cheese and a Christmas film

happy44 · 07/12/2024 19:02

Venison burgers and nachos

Regular cheese and chocolates. It's a Christmas warm up

RaininSummer · 07/12/2024 19:07

Home made pizza, coleslaw and a glass of Malbec.

But what about the safety of the driver?! (Unless the storm has passed where you are)

I've to pick up DD from work at 8 p.m. and I'll collect it then. The storm has passed, although it's still quite windy. Our power has been restored but we've no water. I'll need to pick up a few bottles of water.

OAPapparently · 07/12/2024 19:14

Cheese on toast and some pringles

MrsSethGecko · 07/12/2024 19:14

Bolognese in a baked potato.

I think I still have that book. It was one of my first cookery books and had some good recipes. Must go and have a look.

APurpleSquirrel · 07/12/2024 19:16

We've had Chinese Crispy Duck.

leia24 · 07/12/2024 19:20

Teenage daughter has gone to nandos and cinema with her friends since the two places are next door to each other and they don't really have to be outside.
So I made a veggie chilli because its my fave and she hates it
