Storm Darragh has been and he has brought me….. a rattan footstool, presumably belonging to one of my neighbours.

He is trying his best to take our trampoline to give to someone else.

Has anyone had any nice gifts courtesy of Darragh?

There’s a food waste bin looking very sorry for itself and shivering down the road from me. Yours?

Darragh is working the local river up into a frenzy. It’s frothing like an angry Mumsnetter and I would imagine will burst its banks later today

Wish it was! I've been up and down the road and can't see any bins out of place, strangely!

Respectisnotoptional · 07/12/2024 16:32

Enough sea salt to last for twelve months … plastered over my windows!

tachetastic · 07/12/2024 16:33

A rather handsome tree surgeon that DH basically begged to come out while the storm was still blowing, to cut down a 60ft tree that was leaning at a 30 degree angle with half its roots ripped out of the ground and was moving steadily closer to the cables that bring electricity, phone and internet to the the house and, almost as important, our neighbours roof. 😱

Not too bad in the SE...just a fence panel from neighbours garden.
Its the third panel down, one per storm lately, and we are all pretending we havent noticed because nobody wants to fork out for a new fence!😄

We have been gifted an inflatable Santa, the lid off a wheelie bin and, randomly, two wasps in our kitchen. Not quite sure how they got there.

I wish the wind would relocate the enormous Santa, dinosaur (very festive!) and the associated crap across the road from me but sadly there's little wind.

You need some darts!

My bin and recycling boxes were blown away and I seem to have acquired various bits of cardboard. Nothing as interesting as a rattan footstool.

Oooh, handsome you say! Send him my way.

On a totally unrelated matter, how does one start a tree toppling and how big does it need to be to require a tree surgeon?

ScorpioRising83 · 07/12/2024 16:45

Nice empty roads, which is a novelty at this time on year.

I'm not in the red zone.

ReignOfError · 07/12/2024 16:46

A blown over mallow, and a hefty thump from a badly attached shop board - it was hung on some railings by a chain on one corner, FFS.

LigamentBandy · 07/12/2024 16:47

@Bodeganights I have a well established tree in the garden, tree surgeon last visit 2015, I've just checked photos on phone and tree is now bigger than his first visit. So thanks for asking about tree surgeons! I'm going to message him on Monday

I’ll be watching this thread to find out if anyone finds him!

BreakfastAtMilliways · 07/12/2024 16:54

For my DD, a fireman. Checking for roof leaks and taking down an aerial that was a hazard.

Wolfinthehouse · 07/12/2024 16:57

He's taken our electricity at middnight and refusing to give it back till 12pm tomorrow 😬

SuperfluousHen · 07/12/2024 16:58

I interrupted him taking my neighbours’ food waste / garden waste bin for a trip down the main street. Had quite a tussle with him getting it back up the street - he did manage to take most of the contents for a tour of the town though.

CheeryPlum · 07/12/2024 17:00

I got a litre of water seeped through my living room window. So, that's nice....🙄

Hedjwitch · 07/12/2024 17:02

He's only just arriving here ( East Scotland) and seems to have spent some of his energy thankfully. Rattling the windows and doors but nothing else so far

HerSisterWasAWitch · 07/12/2024 17:02

A puddle of water, which seems to have seeped in under the skirting board somehow. We are in a red area and the wind is is howling so there may be more treats in store.

We have one that has come through our bedroom window. Thankfully, after dealing with the same treat given to us via DS1's window, several years ago, we have an idea how he got it through to us.

Giggorata · 07/12/2024 17:06

He's not long arrived here but seems to be getting more and more extrovert, like the noisy drunk at the party.
We have just prepared for the inevitable electricity loss and I'm keeping an eye on the weather vane..

Entangledlife · 07/12/2024 17:06

A tree that I was saving up to be seen to by a surgeon has saved me the money and uprooted itself, thankfully across my garden and not my neighbour's.

Whilst I was dealing with various bits of debris in my front garden the Robin that I feed everyday was hopping about impatiently and finally flew into my kitchen where I caught her helping herself from the tub of seed 😍

unsync · 07/12/2024 17:08

Just a reminder that I need to find someone to fix the gutter.
