Storm Darragh has been and he has brought me….. a rattan footstool, presumably belonging to one of my neighbours.

He is trying his best to take our trampoline to give to someone else.

Has anyone had any nice gifts courtesy of Darragh?

WE GOT A TRAMPOLINE

The street has been gifted what appears to be a 15 foot inflatable santa. Its right at the top of the tree at the end of the road, I imagine it'll stay there a long time.

I'm hoping he'll move all of the leaves unto a nice pile against the fence. Or preferably into someone else s garden.

LigamentBandy · 07/12/2024 15:58

@LemonyChicken so far I think you're the winner! Great prize!

quicklybeendrivenmad · 07/12/2024 16:01

He has relocated my garden furniture, albeit very neatly, blocking my back door

Lucky you

So far, he’s been a bit stingy. Only a toilet roll in the back garden (not sure where that’s come from), and an upturned food waste bin from next door. Also, a traffic cone from up the road has rolled its way down the hill. Poor little thing.
I was expecting more from an amber warning.

He’s also ruined my freshly cut and coloured hair, I now look like I haven’t brush it in months, and my lovely clean car is now covered in leaves and small twigs.

LemonyChicken · 07/12/2024 16:02

I've put a shout out on the street WhatsApp group but no one has claimed it.

WillimNot · 07/12/2024 16:02

There was a TV aerial in my pub car park this morning.
It's not mine or the pubs. That's been fun to advertise on local groups.
I think one of my garden cushions has done one and my garden brolly which was stuck, sword in the stone like, has managed to fly across the garden too.

Meanwhile, it is dead in the pub at the moment, meant to be having a party booking tonight but I'm convinced they'll cancel. Can't say I blame them.

This seems a good prize if someone can retrieve it

Yes. He brought he a lovely big fence panel. Oh hang on...it's one of mine!

He also brought me a lovely big fence panel (of my own) but I wasn’t quick enough to claim my prize and so now I am the proud owner of many small pieces of a fence panel.

Get it in eBay quickly then :)

An artfully arranged small tree over my back garden

I hope everyone manages to get things fixed with minimal costs.

I wonder where the chickens are from the coop! That’s a worry!

The chickens are standing in a field surrounded by small green munchkins, saying to each other, 'I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.'

TWETMIRF · 07/12/2024 16:11

He ripped the chain out of the wall that was used to keep the wheelie bin in place and helpfully put all of the contents into the garage. If this was last year then we would be fine as wheelie bins weren't forced on us then

SprostenGreen · 07/12/2024 16:15

We have been gifted an inflatable Santa, the lid off a wheelie bin and, randomly, two wasps in our kitchen. Not quite sure how they got there.

Anothernamechane · 07/12/2024 16:15

My garden and the entire street is strewn with rubbish. Bin day and the wind knocked several over

Bodeganights · 07/12/2024 16:16

A trampoline that is still ground anchored has unravelled itself, flung a bit of itself over one of my cement fence posts. Broken that right at ground level. Spent a while scraping the car that was next to the fence, so a badly scraped car wing, wobbly 10 feet of a 50 foot fence and the bins are dancing, not going far but the noise is unnerving.

I remember putting those fence posts in, am dreading getting that one out, I know how much ballast it has attached for the two or 3 feet underground. Sort of luckily we made the fence and can take out the panels each side, but God alone knows when we can do it. It might still be wobbly this time next year.
Naughty trampoline has been taken inside by its owners, who should be shamefaced at its antics.

And another night of high winds.

Owmyelbow · 07/12/2024 16:17

He's assisted a giant inflatable snowman in rampaging through my village. It's progress was being shared on Facebook this morning until someone succeeded in flattening it

Dobbyatemysocks · 07/12/2024 16:18

He delivered the following to us this morning:-

3 door wreaths - including ours!!
All 9 Wheely bins from the carpark.
A rattan penguin which lights up.
2 Christmas trees
A washing up bowl
And the neighbours cat!

To be fair the cat brought himself in as he often pops over for tea with our cat.

Unfortunately Darragh has destroyed my outdoor planters, Christmas tree and lord only knows where my lights have gone!

You're not far off the full 12 days of christmas song

This thread is terrifying and worrying for all the damage but I have to say, posters are so funny with their deadpan delivery and the way they join in.

My DD is in a red area and I'm going to check in with her again now. I am not sure if we are in an colour area but so far just a lot of rain and loud wind. I live in a previous wood so there are a lot of tall trees around which is scary.

Jimmymidoff · 07/12/2024 16:24

Naice new hair do transformed in seconds to scary witch frizz.
Big yellow bucket.
Half a holly bush.
Several loud & hungry seagulls (we as far from the sea as is possible in the UK).

Dobbyatemysocks · 07/12/2024 16:25

@TWETMIRF 🤣🤣🤣 I actually said that to my neighbour when I returned their wreath.

gmgnts · 07/12/2024 16:25

Next storm will be Éowyn (not Edna). Date of arrival as yet unknown! (Hope she's a long way off still)

SprostenGreen · 07/12/2024 16:28

@LemonyChicken As I posted on another thread, Take heed: It’s trampoline mating season. On a windy night they take flight, gracefully through the air across gardens to find a mate. That’s how those little trampoline rebounders are born ready for people taking up exercise in the new year.

@Bodeganights Trampolines have a very strong desire to spread their genes.
