Storm Darragh has been and he has brought me….. a rattan footstool, presumably belonging to one of my neighbours.

He is trying his best to take our trampoline to give to someone else.

Has anyone had any nice gifts courtesy of Darragh?

I’m a carer doing house calls on foot, he kindly brought me a bottle of anti freeze. I wasn’t quick enough to catch it though, he just bounced it off my face 😭

Hope you’re ok.

I have a new interior water feature 🫣

Snap. In the kitchen, which is a novel place for a water feature…

BrightYellowDaffodil · 07/12/2024 15:12

He’s kindly donated some of our fence to a neighbour. Isn’t that nice?

And the wheely bins are having a lovely day out.

My ex-mil was named Edna, if that’s who is coming next, be afraid, very afraid. That woman was a battle axe!

My DMum was an Edna, and she could be pretty fierce when she put her mind to it.

She loved a good storm though, and would have been pleased to have had one named after her.

He's brought us two leaky ceilings :(

HollyKnight · 07/12/2024 15:16

My car took a wheely bin to the face and my cat kennel left the country.

Sewmania · 07/12/2024 15:21

He didn’t leave us anything, but took away our power and water (supplied by electric pump ) and apparently isn’t giving them back until after dark tonight. DH is out at a very important work dinner tonight so I’m planning a pizza delivery and a glass or two of Malbec by candlelight.

Auburngal · 07/12/2024 15:26

Burt blew my recycling bin upside down which emptied it. Quite surprised that none of the glass items in there broke.

Hardly slept last night as rain and wind hit bedroom window.

perhaps the aim was to give you a new drinking fountain. Generous!

edited for insane typing

I'm in the SE, so well away from the worst of it, but it still brought me a sleepless night as the 4 wheelie bins from the house across the road, whose owner leaves them on the grass verge, were blowing around most of the night.

I don't know why she doesn't put them in her garage, as she never puts her car in there, and it would be more convenient as the back door opens into the garage and she wouldn't have to come out into the street every time she needs to put the rubbish/recycling into the bins.

Peachbubble · 07/12/2024 15:31

A section of next door's perspex sheet roofing from their carport. It's been loose for years, but would they fix it replace it, no. Harry Halfajob (as we call him) has thrown a wooden fence post on top of the rest of it to "secure" it. Just waiting for that to come flying over now!

Pogggle · 07/12/2024 15:36

He’s brought us a lovely leak in our kitchen which is great. Feeling grateful though as this is a few roads down from us so things could have been much worse

Just a tonne of leaves in the porch. I swear the leaves from every single tree in a mile radius. There is now no wind at all despite the weather app telling me 54mph.

It's wheelie bin Armageddon out there. Terrible scenes.

I actually bought my wheelie bins indoors this morning.

The wind whistles down my road and they go flying every storm. I am mid terrace and there are no fences / walls between me and neighbours to stop wind. I keep meaning to see about getting a bin house made that's bolted to my drive. If I lay them down they just slide across the drive.

ThePoshUns · 07/12/2024 15:51

He stole my olive tree's coat

Angrymum22 · 07/12/2024 15:51

Two hour power cut. And it took out the local phone mast so no back up internet. Fortunately the phone signal was just strong enough to receive a text from the power company to say we should have full power by tomorrow 2am. It’s now back on but it could be temporary. Oh joy. Candlelit takeaway for us tonight.

SoMauveMonty · 07/12/2024 15:52

I'm in the amber zone, it's much worse here now than this morning.
Darragh's currently doing his best to uproot the fence between me and next door. I'm having a brew and keeping a watchful eye. I have dogs, so the fence quite useful.
The only thing he's bought me is several large pieces of (soggy) cardboard.

Good grief :/ hope no one was hurt?
That puts the odd flying tramboline and fence panel into perspective, doesn't it

Sorry folks I've no idea what the the name of the next storm will be, I picked Edna out of the air. It is the right first letter, but should really be an Irish name. Eoife?

Eowyn

My green waste wheelie bin keeps insisting on relocating to my front drive no matter how many times I've moved it back - think it wants to join in the Darroch wheelie bin rave.

Sadly Darroch has decided not to relocate next doors two decrepit crappy fence panels that are obviously put into the ground with the worlds strongest cement, I have no clue how they're still standing. the slats are all broken and falling off and the only use they serve is an easy access doorway for their and my cats to go visit each other.

LigamentBandy · 07/12/2024 15:56

@increasinglyconcerned Because I can't access the upstairs of my house, A bungalow in an ok/nice area, is around 360/80k before doing any work to it, and would be a step back down the housing ladder, my house is in a better location it would be crazy to move , so I've reconfigured how I use the house.
