What do you drink before a night out?

What alcoholic predrinks do you and your friends have before a night out? I'm looking for inspiration as it's been a while since I've been out! I'm thinking white wine or prosecco however I tend to drink them too slowly..

Gosh everyone is so boring!

Some people just don’t like to drink alcohol, there’s nothing boring about that. If some people think it’s “boring” that others don’t like alcohol then it’s them that has the issue. I don’t drink alcohol, I don’t like the taste or the way that it makes me feel, each to their own though! I’m probably “boring” you @Littleguggi

Edited to add I’m happy with tea or water, perhaps offer a range of drinks?

Tuna wrap is absolutely not ok, you will have fish breath!

I’ll sometimes have a glass of wine whilst getting ready if we’re meeting later or I’m missing part of the night, other than that I buy when I’m out- I used to pre drink in uni like others but that was mostly because I couldn’t afford much in pubs etc

Not exactly planning to snog anyone, plus there's this thing called brushing your teeth- you should look into it!

If I'm meeting up with friends before it we'd likely have wine, prosecco or make cocktails.

Hang on, four hours to get ready for dinner?! No sarcasm, genuinely curious, is this including cooking the dinner & having guests or is it for going out to a restaurant?

TheChosenTwo · 05/12/2024 22:24

Oh god nothing any more! I’ve gone off having a pre drink, I’d usually have a vodka but my home measures are generous 😂
I just stick to what I drink when I’m out now though, water at home!
I don’t eat before going out though, never seem to have time and also I don’t normally eat my dinner until about 8pm and if im going out it’ll be way before 8 so I just go without OR get something on my way home.

You'll still honk.

I'm going out with friends tomorrow. We are meeting before for drinks and I plan to take a bottle of Prosecco. We are all in our 60's and are definitely not old and boring!

So many questions..

I start getting ready 4 hours before, it doesn't mean I require the full 4 hours. I might put on a face mask, paint my nails, watch a bit of telly, do my hair, have a cuppa, do my makeup, faff around with deciding what to wear, eat something like a tuna wrap, brush my teeth..

Strawberry 20/20 or White Lightning... just after I get out of my DeLorean 😂 if you know, you know.

I’m exactly the same, I love getting ready for a girls night, it’s part of the fun! I’d hate to be rushing, I start about three hours before but similar, that includes lots of sitting around with a face mask on waiting for nails to dry, standing in my robe selecting outfits… letting hair dry naturally whilst catching up on Corrie and then curling it etc…. all good fun, feels like such a treat!

Namechange600 · 05/12/2024 22:32

a shot of two of tequila 😝 .. as it makes me happy 😆

imSatanhonest · 05/12/2024 22:32

OP I'm 50 and still do prinkies if I'm going out 😆 although admittedly my nights out are limited nowadays to works' nights out about 3 times a year!

Milk - to line my stomach, just in case! Then one of my favourite cocktails - Screaming Orgasm or White Russian. Then once out, probably the same cocktails or a drink whereby I wouldn't be 'mixing my drinks' per se, so alcohol that I'd already had in the cocktails - vodka or Baileys.

Enjoy!

Honestly I agree about it feeling like a treat! Beats my usual rushed mornings getting ready! Plus I'll be kid free for once so there won't be any distractions! I love dressing up but I don't get to do it very often for various reasons

leia24 · 05/12/2024 22:38

Depends on the plans but a rose if it's a fancy night and cocktail cans or gin and lemonade if its a gig or event

honeyfox · 05/12/2024 22:39

I wouldn't usually have a pre-drink or have friends in my house before I go out, but if there was red wine around I might have a glass.

chillibuns · 05/12/2024 22:39

Usually a glass of Prosecco or a spritzer whilst getting ready.

Chocolately · 05/12/2024 22:44

Well it used to be a wkd or a Smirnoff ice, but I'm going back to the early nineties so 🤷
Also, a slice of cheese on toast, mustn't drink on an empty stomach.

RumNotRun · 05/12/2024 22:46

My friend and I always meet up to walk into town and take some prinks for the journey, usually just some of the premixed cans of cocktails. We're in our 40s but only go out once a month, if that, so enjoy having a bit of a party atmosphere. Neither of us are ever sick after a night out nor are we particularly hungover the next day.

That makes more sense. I was thinking I'd give up going out if it took four hours to get ready 😂I suppose condensed it's really 30-60 minutes depending if you need to shower and style hair etc. I was having images of the poor people on that old judgeypants show Snog Marry Avoid!

JingleB · 05/12/2024 23:38

Fuck me - 4 hours getting ready? No wonder you need food and a drink.

Having friends over before going out together - spritzers or something similar that’s light but tasty. Hugo or along those lines. Small snacks you pop whole in your mouth so it doesn’t mess up makeup or spoil your appetite.

Like others, I initially thought the OP was asking what to drink to line her stomach before going out, not how to get hammered on the cheap.

GreatTheCat · 06/12/2024 00:02

Ahh I used to drink red wine... Before I ditched the drink!

StrikeForever · 06/12/2024 00:12

Littleguggi · 05/12/2024 21:40

Because if dinner is at 7pm and I start getting ready at 3pm, I will need something to eat around 4pm whilst I am getting ready to keep me going. I eat lunch at 12pm so 7 hours without food is a long time. I might have avocado on toast or a tuna wrap or omelette at 4pm, is that okay?

Bloody hell, there must be an awful lot of work involved in you getting ready to go out 😂🤣

JMAngel1 · 06/12/2024 07:13

I’m all about damage limitation so there is no way I would drink before a night out! I used to in my teens and 20s but looking back think that was a social anxiety thing.
I went out last night and actually actively noticed that I was very calm and relaxed in the Uber and compared it to how I used to feel and this is soooo much better.

JMAngel1 · 06/12/2024 07:14

Jesus just read it takes you four hours to get ready for a night out???
