What do you drink before a night out?

What alcoholic predrinks do you and your friends have before a night out? I'm looking for inspiration as it's been a while since I've been out! I'm thinking white wine or prosecco however I tend to drink them too slowly..

A glass of bubbles while getting ready

FeralNun · 05/12/2024 20:08

Pre-loading! I remember that..

Whatever was in the house, generally.

Now I am old and not poor, I don’t, mainly so I don’t come home bladdered by 9pm.

Enjoy, OP, capacity shrinks when you become middle aged. See also not being able to eat 3 courses plus dessert wine and midnight cocktails…sigh.

I was joking.

Flapearedknave · 05/12/2024 20:14

Wine or prosecco!

MammaTo · 05/12/2024 20:15

A cocktail or something fizzy I think. I have stumbled into the world of fancy ice cubes on tik tok, so that might be a nice idea too.

cluefu · 05/12/2024 20:18

I love a drink whilst getting ready, listening to a podcast etc or music. Although I love a drink in general! My preference is something easy, can of beer of a glass of wine/prosecco. My DH makes a mean margarita but way too strong to start a night out.

Onetimeonly2024 · 05/12/2024 20:19

Pre-loading!!! Those were the days 🤣🤣 back in the day it was literally anything 🤦‍♀️ If i do it now, in summer it’s a nice glass of rose or a cocktail. Winter is usually decent fizz.

Princessfluffy · 05/12/2024 20:19

I definitely wouldn't drink before going out I'd save it for when I was out.

My dd used to "prink" when she was a teen.

It's part of binge drinking culture, look out for your liver function OP.

LikeThatNotThat · 05/12/2024 20:20

I always have a glass of wine while I get ready! And defo pre drink when we've got an expensive night out, though to be honest I usually head to Wetherspoons these days so no need for the pre drinks, I don't do a lot of expensive places nowadays.
Must say I generally drink wine! Depending on your timings you could do a few cocktails, the pre mixed ones from supermarkets are quite nice and super cheap compared to drinking cocktails in a bar!!

CandyCane457 · 05/12/2024 20:23

I love the Whiteclaw seltzers, perfect for a pre-drink sesh!

Littleguggi · 05/12/2024 20:29

Bloody hell this has escalated! If the subject title doesn't apply to you, don't click onto it!

I'm obviously going to offer my friends a drink or two before we head out and like I said I was looking for inspiration of what to serve. Not exactly planning on getting wasted!

Friends and I are nearing 40 if that helps, far from a teen!

red label thunderbird -down at skips behind the co--op...?
captain morgans n coke always a good starting point.

Viviennemary · 05/12/2024 20:34

Why would you, it's like eating before you go out for aa meal. Can't see the point.

Pinkruler · 05/12/2024 20:35

A glass of fizz - prosecco or cava or champagne

Haribosweets · 05/12/2024 20:37

If I'm on my own getting ready to meet friends then I won't pre-drink, if I'm with friends then we might have some wine or one of those mixers in can like vodka lemonade or gin and tonic in can.

MrDarlingtonsPie · 05/12/2024 20:37

I’d 100% offer friends a glass of fizz while getting ready and we are all adults. I love getting ready, doing make up etc with a glass of wine and some music, it’s part of the ritual / occasion for me!

Changeyourfuckingcar · 05/12/2024 20:37

I mean, the last time I properly did pre-drinks it was either port and lemonade or bottles of rosé… but that was some time ago now!
I only really get ready with my friends maybe once or twice a year now, for balls generally. I kind of miss it, I love the fun of it all! Anyway, for that, it’s Prosecco… or sometimes gin cocktails.

GingerKombucha · 05/12/2024 20:38

If with husband, maybe champagne, if myself I might have a glass of rose or those little negronis in a can are perfect for one serving that changes mindset from running around after kids to night out.

comoatoupeira · 05/12/2024 20:39

Strong cup of coffee!
sorry I’m old

WinterUnder · 05/12/2024 20:39

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 05/12/2024 19:00

I don't. I'm not an 18 year-old in 2000.

😅 thought it was just me. Why do you need to drink before a night out unless you're a teen? We may have different versions of a night out though Grin

Wineandrun · 05/12/2024 20:39

If I was getting ready on my own I’d have a glass of wine or two, if I’m going out with my husband and we’re in a hotel (the only time we’d likely be together going out) we’d share a bottle of champagne. If I’m meeting friends at a house first to go out together then Prosecco!

PeakSheep · 05/12/2024 20:41

An ice cold prosecco for sure

GingerKombucha · 05/12/2024 20:41

If you want to get party started with girlfriends - grate a cucumber and pour vodka over it, leave for an hour in the fridge and then strain, one shot of cucumber vodka, a dash of elderflower cordial and top up with champagne / cava / cremant. Delicious, fun and lethal enough to skip out to cabs in a great mood.

This sounds fab! Shall try it this weekend 🥰
