What do you drink before a night out?

What alcoholic predrinks do you and your friends have before a night out? I'm looking for inspiration as it's been a while since I've been out! I'm thinking white wine or prosecco however I tend to drink them too slowly..

Even more questions. Why are you getting ready with your friends at 40? Surely you all are just coming from home and meeting somewhere? Unless you all live very near each other?

Seriously, this is one of the things I miss most in life and I'd jump at it if I had a chance. Trying to get dressed among kids and husband is nowhere near as much fun as over a drink with the girls. Was the best part of going out. If op has found a way to make it happen I'm so jealous and good on her.

I’m 35 and if my friends and I go on a night out, their partners drop them at mine as I’m closer to the city centre, we have a few drinks here together and then share a taxi from my house. It’s nice to meet first and all arrive together, I don’t think it’s that abnormal!

Gin and tonic, I never drink it out as it always comes with too much ice and bits and bobs that I don't enjoy.
Mostly these days we do post drinks. Grin
A few pints in the afternoon and home for wine!

Littleguggi · 05/12/2024 20:50

I'm starting to wonder if some people live under a rock..

In the summer I'll have a Limoncello Spritz or an Aperol Spritz.

In winter I'll have either a gin and tonic, Prosecco or white wine.

I always have a drink whilst I'm getting ready to get me in the mood. GinWineGin

Nope, we just don’t binge drink 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fucketbucket · 05/12/2024 20:58

I'm 45 OP and don't think this is an odd question. Just last week a few of us met at a friend's house as she lives very centrally. We had a glass of cava /red or white wine (depending on what we prefer) had a chat before going out for a wander round the Christmas Market then a meal.
If I was making something for everyone I would likely do a jug of aperol spritz or similar

landobroken · 05/12/2024 20:59

MN hates alcohol I have noticed!

If I had friends over, I would have Prosecco or white wine to offer them with probably some olives/crisps/dips etc.

It's not really to save money it's basic hosting!

Shatandfattered · 05/12/2024 21:02

Ffs everyone's always got a stick up their arse! OP to appease the downlookers why don't you stick to what you plan on drinking when you're out, save yourself a bit of a hangover but I've a cheek, I'll drink whatever is in front of me lol. Top tip, 2 milk thistle tablets and a berocca mixed in with a rehydration sachet is my new pre drink simply because hangovers will be the death of me.

Jemimapuddleduk · 05/12/2024 21:08

I’d offer cava or do a flora dora (gin, chambord, fresh lime juice and topped with ginger ale).

Strokethefurrywall · 05/12/2024 21:12

Pre-game drinks - either G&T or wine!

blackandgold88 · 05/12/2024 21:15

Definitely Prosecco!

Sunnyflow · 05/12/2024 21:23

I always eat before I go out, even if dinner is involved,

Why would you eat before going out to eat?

MadKittenWoman · 05/12/2024 21:23

G & T

Because if dinner is at 7pm and I start getting ready at 3pm, I will need something to eat around 4pm whilst I am getting ready to keep me going. I eat lunch at 12pm so 7 hours without food is a long time. I might have avocado on toast or a tuna wrap or omelette at 4pm, is that okay?

Lots of people on here like to be old before their time.
Nearly 40 here and we tend to meet at whoevers home is closest to where we are going. We have a few nice cocktails, wines or proseccos whilst catching up then head out to wherever we are going.
No binge drinking, puking in taxis or whatever some posters have mentioned.
Just friends meeting up, having a good time and enjoying each other's company.
Enjoy OP. Just because you have a few drinks with friends doesn't make you a drunken mess pretending to be a teen

SatansBobbleheadedDashboardOrnament · 05/12/2024 22:02

One shot of absinthe, shot of gold 34 year-old Tequila, double Baileys and one shot of other thing I can't remember the name of nor do I care.

ExquisiteDecorations · 05/12/2024 22:07

I’ve never got ready with friends (when I was younger nearly all my friends were men so I missed out on a lot of fun stuff I think). Just on my wedding day. Now we tend to knock for each other and all head straight into town, meet there or give each other lifts, but if I was doing pres it would definitely be the cans of pre-mixed cocktails, nice and easy, wine would generally be if they were coming round for the evening and eating here. It is hardly the road to liver failure so long as you aren’t doing it all the time. Have fun!

coldinbuxton · 05/12/2024 22:09

I usually make a cocktail and then will just have Prosecco.

Have a good night

Yes this is what we tend to do.
Glad I'm not the only one after reading responses on here 🤣

I also don’t think I’ve done that since age 21.

I don't. I am the driver.

Tuna wrap is absolutely not ok, you will have fish breath!

I’ll sometimes have a glass of wine whilst getting ready if we’re meeting later or I’m missing part of the night, other than that I buy when I’m out- I used to pre drink in uni like others but that was mostly because I couldn’t afford much in pubs etc
