A Petition to call a General Election is currently running, and I've never seen one signed by so many in such a short space of time. Clearly there are a lot of unhappy people in the UK - to put it mildly.

Yes it's this. Facebook is full of farmer protest stuff (and Reform voters jumping on the Labour hating bandwagon).

I've been messaged by two friends this morning who are of the alternative reality mindset.
When I challenged one of them about the majority the Labour Party got, I was told that obviously the results were tampered with.
Unlike Trump who is about to be revealed as our global saviour.

It’s just Reform voters throwing their toys out the pram now that we’ve had their idols, Farage and Clarkson in the news for the last week. It’ll probably get a few more hundred thousand signatures, before the numbers drop away, and it’ll get rightly ignored at that point.

So stupid to think that after a few months we should just have another election because o few percent of the countries population don’t like the govt.

I think you'll find that was the previous lot, aside from taxes, which they increased for working people.

Our energy security was junked in favour of privatisation, we've not been food secure for 200 years and the last government killed tens of thousands through austerity.

I didn't vote Labour, but considering the damage done over the last 14 years, they'd have to actively club pensioners to death to rival the last lot.

Signing a petition is a very easy thing to do. I could do it in a few seconds. I have signed a few in my time, but not lots.
What takes far more time and energy and application is to look at a topic and consider it and then write a letter to your MP or a member of the government, telling her/him what you think about it, if you feel strongly enough.

So many people signing overnight when the UK is fast asleep. It's almost as if the petition is full of bots!

You don't keep holding votes rul you get the result you want

We live in a democracy, as such everyone has the right to express their preference as to who should form the government when an election is called, if you don’t like the result, maybe go and actually vote next time or just accept the result rather than just complaining because it’s not what you wanted

You cant keep holding elections til you get the result you want! Democracy doesn't work like that!

This will get rejected the same way all the ones to remove Boris Johnson got rejected. There's a parliamentary process and just because a vocal minority doesn't like the current government doesn't mean a petition will get them removed. Anyone either sharing this is completely deluded and quite thick

Then we can elect the magic party who can solve all problems in a few months, without upsetting a single group of voters.

It's a tiny percent 0.69 currently and the top 3 are mostly UK expat locations (Australia, spain, Ireland) I think there's a conversation to be had about the security of the parliamentary petitions and the ease to vote and lie about where you're voting from, but the bit you've pasted isn't really suspect.

Because it’s ridiculous.When the Conservatives got in 14 years, many people weren’t happy, but accepted it.So why is it ok, for people to demand another general election because the Conservatives didn’t get in again.It’s not how the voting system works.

Its a dark wet windy Sunday and people are stuck at home.
The petition will get a three minute Westminster Hall "debate"
and then the election will be in four years time
