Winter Wonderland is hands down the most overplayed and seasonally inappropriate Christmas song. And it's bloody everywhere since it's not religious.

Right? It’s just a happy couple having a smog as they put the presents out.

I see the argument online ever year about if Stay Another Day is classed as a Christmas song. Apparently the argument for is that it's when it was released, they all wear coats and there are bells ringing at the end. And the one against is that it never mentions Christmas. 😂

I'm with you on that. It's not a bloody Christmas record, it's having a go at people celebrating Christmas. The backing vocals are, "war is over if you want it", which is such trite crap.

Exactly, the "joke" is that it's dad dressed up as Santa!

There's a (literally) 10 second bit where they slag each other off, that's it. And is far less offensive than most 'music' on the radio. I really don't get the hate for it?! Just because it's not about Santa, snow, reindeer??

Hugh Grant's character was the son of a man who had written a famous Christmas song years ago, and he barely had to work as he could just live off the royalty cheques.

I don't think there have been any big Christmas songs for a while, have there? it seems to be a lost art.

@IcedPurple This is the only recent Christmas song I can think of and even that came out a few years ago. The video is better than the song tbh.

I absolutely loathe The Darkness! As in, I’ll change the radio station if I’m on my own and will leave the room where possible. My XH used to make it his ringtone for December (X for many reasons! Evidence of his dickish behaviour).

A version of Mad World used in the film Donnie Darko beat it. The other occasion I remember was Pet Shop Boys beating the highly aforementioned Fairytale of New York
