my firm belief is that the only reason that people like it is because Shane McGowan sounds like a drunkard and they get to shout "cheap lousy faggot" and "happy Christmas you arsehole" At the top of their voices. To me it sounds like a couple of drunk people brawling in a dive bar which I guess is exactly what it's about but why anyone wants to listen to that beats me.

Haaa the only time I got to see him live he was staggering around swigging straight vodka and yelled at my mate's mum to 'fuck off you old hag' (admittedly she was heckling him a bit) 😆. Not cheery no but I still love (most of!) his work!

My favourite one in recent years is Carolyn's the Bells. I think it's based on a traditional Ukrainian carol. Anyway, it nukes all the bad ones mentioned in this thread for me!

I think the new Band Aid remix is possibly the worst song I've ever heard. No wonder Ed Sheeran was pissed off about it.

I'm with you, I hate the song, and even more so videos of them performing it.

I really like pretty much all other songs mentioned though, love Maria etc. The only other one I hate is the Coldplay one where he says something like 'it doesn't even feel like Christmas' with a really dirgy tune.

1. I love Noddy, I m glad his pension is sorted, and I look forward to the first time I hear his song every Christmas.

1. Sir Paul really should have known better. It's really hard to believe that one of the most talented musicians there is wrote and performed such bilge. It's not like he needed the money.

1. I love Bowie and Bing individually,but them singing together didn't work, it's a terrible song, out of tune and makes them both sound rough.
