Littlemissgobby · 21/11/2024 17:18

Why the fuck is he attacking our gov decisions like inheritance tax on farms? He seems obsessed with Britain ever since the riots . Also can you imagine if sir Allan sugar was posting stuff about American gov policy like Elon musk is.
All because he’s been summoned about disinformation on X That led to the riots.
is he just a right wing twat? He’s gonna have to pipe down if America wants us to be on their side if I was labour I would be getting so annoyed .
side note I sit left centre but Peter Mandelson licking boots of Elon and trump is a piss take.
maybe we are going to have to move closer to Europe as America is unhinged by the sounds of Elon .

Yes, I'd tell him to do one.

He can have an opinion about whatever he wants but to think that matters... that's egotistical. And we all know that's his problem.

So glad to read the short response, 'No he isn't' that labour sent in response to his dad (who's opinion is also immaterial) about KS resigning.

Who are these people?

Ugh hate to break it to you. Your current gov is a big, fat joke. Labours' collective IQ and achievement does not match Musk's.

Are you a child

Ok. His posting on twitter is more important than advances in electric vehicles and satellite communications. I'll leave you to it.

I can’t judge what he is currently doing which is clearly arsing around on twitter?

Alphaalga · 22/11/2024 00:29

Totallymessed · 22/11/2024 00:12

Nah, that's not Elon Musk - he's absolutely not an idiot, and I imagine he is a genius. Trump, yes, an idiot who got lucky but Musk has achieved a huge amount. He obviously wastes far too much time on Twitter, but he has made a huge and positive difference to the world. Regardless of how unpleasant he may be.

Dunno where people like you get your ideas, but Musk ain't no expert in electric cars or space. It took SpaceX five attempts to hit orbit and win that $29bn NASA contact to build a moon lander.

As for Tesla:

Sources of wealth
The Federal government of the United States provided Musk with tens of billions of dollars.[17] Around 75% of Musk's wealth was derived from Tesla stock in November 2020,[9] a proportion that fell to about 37% as of December 2022,[a] after selling nearly $40 billion in company shares since late 2021.[18] Musk does not receive a salary from Tesla; he agreed with the board in 2018 to a compensation plan that ties his personal earnings to Tesla's valuation and revenue.[7] The deal stipulated that Musk only received the compensation if Tesla reached certain market values.[19] It was the largest such deal ever done between a CEO and a company board.[20] In the first award, given in May 2020, he was eligible to purchase 1.69 million Tesla shares (about 1% of the company) at below-market prices, which was worth about $800 million.[20][19]
The above stock compensation deal was invalidated by the Delaware court due to Musk controlling Tesla and having massive influence on the directors, making the compensation decision a "conflicted-controller transaction" which is subject to court review in Delaware law to be judged for fairness. Tesla is trying to reinstate the payment package via new shareholders votes.
Musk paid $455 million in taxes on $1.52 billion of income between 2014 and 2018.[21] According to ProPublica, Musk paid no federal income taxes in 2018.[22] He stated his 2021 tax bill was estimated at $12 billion based on his sale of $14 billion worth of Tesla stock.[21]
Musk has repeatedly described himself as "cash poor",[23][24] and has "professed to have little interest in the material trappings of wealth".[23] In May 2020, he pledged to sell almost all physical possessions after a talk with Cory Spears.[24]Musk has defended his wealth by saying he is accumulating resources for humanity's outward expansion to space

He’s posting a lot of batshit conspiracy stuff, and retweeting obvious fake accounts so it is unfortunate that he has such a large platform.

well the public want democracy rather than censorship,

AfterEightMints01 · 22/11/2024 01:15

Littlemissgobby · 22/11/2024 00:14

Right so you admit he was buying twitter to get into power by pumping misinformation and interfering with election by cheating the algorithms. U obviously think that is good

no different than the public choosing trump as president,

Musk's government department is named after an internet meme and you think our government is a joke?

Musk doesn’t have a government department. What an idiotic post. At least do some research and critical thinking.

And yes this Labour government is a joke. I’m glad Elon is calling them out for their lies and hypocrisy.

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 22/11/2024 01:46

Elon a genius 😂 LMFAO

EverythingAllatOnceAllTheTime · 22/11/2024 06:55

Liz Kendall, the Work and Pensions Secretary, is expected to shortly publish the Get Britain Working white paper, setting out how the Government plans to tackle the problem.

Plans will reportedly include stripping young people of their benefits if they are not in some form of education, employment, or training.
Ms Kendall also plans to introduce a “youth guarantee” to get more people into work.

“We will not allow young people not to be in education, employment or training,” she told MPs last week. “It is terrible for them. That has to have a real focus.”

Good.

MushMonster · 22/11/2024 07:01

So, he gets publicity for his companies for free.
He gets to be close to the big guys too, to the point he has a post in Trump's government.
You may not appreciate him, and I do not like him much myself, but he is not stupid. Far from. Facts are facts. Actually being rather obnoxious is working wonders for him.

DaliaDay · 22/11/2024 07:06

Mebebecat · 21/11/2024 18:18

He is definitely some sort of genius, there's not much point in denying that! He is also a wanker, but probably not an idiot.

It's weird because he clearly is incredibly intelligent, or at least has business smarts and has miraculously made himself seem more intelligent than he is by surrounding himself with intelligent people. I suspect he's quite smart. But then he posts really idiotic stuff like "heavy use of c sections lead to bigger brains".

Moonlightstars · 22/11/2024 07:07

DelusionalBrilliance · 21/11/2024 17:38

I love how someone having a different opinion is now just classed as misinformation, because you don’t like the information provided 😂

At least there’s no censoring on X, you’re free to share your opinion and find your own echo chamber if that’s what you want.

It's a cesspit of bollocks. Musk is extremely Right Wing and out for himself. He attacks the Left because the Left does not support his world view. Which is predominantly about increasing his wealth and power.
You only have to see how much money he made the day after Trump went into power to see why he does what he does.
Anyone defends him that isn't a multimillionaire is usually not the brightest. And tend to be either racist or misogynistic, or both.

DiggetyDog · 22/11/2024 07:08

What people don’t seem to realise is that by using Orwellian methods to shut down opinions will only drive people to believe Musk et al because the left is doing exactly what an authoritarian regime would do.
This approach has directly led to Trump’s landslide - whether his victory stands the test of time or not.
I think at this point we need to ask ourselves what we want in the future, because right now it’s looking like a Farage kind of future as more and more people are pushed away from the left.

I don’t like the tactics from the left or the right, but the whole attempts at censorship from the left is chilling. There isn’t just one view, misinformation is being used as a tool to shut down opinion and valuable discussion, and by doing so drives the discussion into conspiracy theory territory as the shut down does little but confirm that you’re not allowed to speak about certain things without being ridiculed and insulted.

There’s a balance to be had for sure, but for every Musk posting bollocks on the internet there’s an Orwellian fuelled campaign to stop these pesky wrong-think opinions.

We live in a polarised world. Using authoritarian tactics will not change this, only make things worse, and will send more people into the opportunistic but welcoming arms of Nigel Farage. I hope I’m proved wrong but you can literally see it happening. Musk is a dick but he has a point and we should be careful how we handle things.

I think the poster means he has been appointed to co-lead the Government Efficiency Department, alongside a gentleman I do not know of.
I do not know of any meme with the words government and efficiency in the same sentence, but I can imagine there may well be one. They are not two words that you see together that often.
We shall see how the department does. We may even have one of our own in future!

Fairyliz · 22/11/2024 07:16

Imagine you are one of the richest people in the world what would you do with all of that money?
Yes holidays, great clothes/cars would be lovely but eventually you would tire of those.
Instead why not meddle in other countries, flex your muscles and use your power; after all why not?
He’s probably clever enough to realise that humankind is just a random act of nature; would it actually matter if we all got wiped out?

frenchnoodle · 22/11/2024 07:19

It seems to all be working out very well for him.

exactly this

I think it is quite obvious, Labour related groups started saying they would "kill Elon Musk's twitter". Elon responded saying it is war.

This will be entertaining if nothing else.

From the Telegraph:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2024/10/23/elon-musk-war-labour-linked-ccdh-online-campaign/

Elon Musk has declared “war” on a Labour linked online group founded by Sir Keir Starmer’s chief of staff. The billionaire owner of X, formerly Twitter, accused the Centre for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) of violating rules “against foreign interference in elections”. Mr Musk wrote on the social media network: “We are going after CCDH and their donors.”

I can't read this as it is behind a paywall, but that story is almost a month old? Has anything happened since?

People are leaving Twitter in droves now. It will soon be just a right wing echo chamber full of bots and incels.

Thank you - this amused me greatly. A great grasp of politics.
We have been turning our face to America in terms of politics, language, spelling, TV, etc for too long - look what a shit show it is now.
Fortunately, those with taste still turn to Europe - so much more in common in terms of culture, language (etymology), history, tradition, etc

Is that right?
