What is elon musk problem with Britain?

Littlemissgobby · 21/11/2024 17:18

Why the fuck is he attacking our gov decisions like inheritance tax on farms? He seems obsessed with Britain ever since the riots . Also can you imagine if sir Allan sugar was posting stuff about American gov policy like Elon musk is.
All because he’s been summoned about disinformation on X That led to the riots.
is he just a right wing twat? He’s gonna have to pipe down if America wants us to be on their side if I was labour I would be getting so annoyed .
side note I sit left centre but Peter Mandelson licking boots of Elon and trump is a piss take.
maybe we are going to have to move closer to Europe as America is unhinged by the sounds of Elon .

That's good that you can just sit there and go. Well. The world is not fair. I lived in Hong Kong. Don't tell me about it and then you try to justify it because what they're poor people, so it's okay, it's not okay that's the difference between somebody like me and somebody like you

I’m beginning to lose patience with your logic, because, with respect, you appear to have lived your entire life in a small ‘deprived’ town, and you let your anger blind you.

Firstly, you need to understand the way the world works - its a complex collection of geopolitics, personal fear and greed, strategic competition, macroeconomics, trade conflicts - I could go on, but the tectonic plates that periodically shift, will continue to do so.

When people vote, they do so premised on who they perceive will best serve their own interests - I say perceive because manifestos have a habit of being nonsense.

Your wish for some kind of utopia is therefore destined to fail. UK politics is naturally short-term, as are tenure of most politicians. Labour will fail to deliver, they will not survive more than one term, and we shall simply rinse/repeat.

Now, to my point, you can either play the hand you are dealt as best possible, or you can continue barking at the moon.

Its your life.

peanutbuttertoasty · 23/11/2024 10:41

There won’t be a UK left by the end of this government’s term. The country will be owned by Blackrock and the people will own nothing. We’re not getting it back.

@PandoraSox have u seen the false charity elon gives to fucking laughable talk about self interest

He still gives to people poorer than him, which was your whole argument. Unless you are his accountant no one will truly know where the money goes….

I’m not young.
The strength of feeling amongst farmers now is more united than they’ve been, that’s what I mean. I live in a rural area, a real
farming community, and I’ve never seen this pulling together before.

I know there have been previous protests, I know people who went to the countryside alliance March over 20 years ago, which brought together rural communities, but this is different.
The protest 20 years ago was largely about rural life, the neglect from urban government, the lack of care around the decimation of rural communities with things like foot and mouth. It wasn’t mainly limited to farmers and the majority turnout was other people connected to rural life.

This is farmers, known for grumbling and getting on with it. Getting together like this is big.

Did these same farmers get p*** off under the conservatives that fucked them over under Brexit? Because this is what I don't get. I saw the protest the other day. They had reform and ukip flags, these are the same people that sold them down the river for brexit

Please don't talk to me like I'm stupid. I'm studying Open University at the minute. I am not stupid. i100% understand what you are talking about, but here's the thing I don't vote just for myself. There are many things that I could have voted for the conservative for they gave me money during the pandemic But I could not vote for a party. That's willing to be nasty to other people destroying communities.
I understand that people are selfish and greedy. I get that. It's a dam shame.
Collectively, my argument is, if every country started a wealth tax on the rich, they will run out of places they can hide, but it would need a united front because the gap between the rich and the poor is widening at a big rate across the world

I spoiled my vote.
There really is more to people than a 2D view of “you didn’t vote Labour, therefore I bet you voted reform”.

The US elections highlighted well that the ideologically driven left made space for a right that opportunistically supported a different view. The left called the right thick and racist, ignoring the valid concerns that all voters have whether red or blue.
Real life isn’t (or shouldn’t be) as polarised as this, yet here we are.

Yeah, but unfortunately I find people like you very disingenuous. Normally I find when people like you speak you either a conservative or somebody likes reform. You may not think you are, but potentially. You are because you say that, but realistically, that's the voting that we have. Yes, I would love to get rid of the first past the post approach. However, until we do that, unfortunately, yes, we only have a 2 party solution just like they do in America and unfortunately I have watched so much YouTube. I have seen people being interviewed that were going to see Donald Trump, and they did come across as stupid and thick. In fact, now. they are realising that it's going to affect their health But they've got buyer's remorse, a lot of them.
I saw debates with democract voters and they seem so much more educated.I am sorry, but that is true

I can see how you might think that this is 'huge' if you spend time on twitter because there are loads of accounts on there right now saying 'this is huge' 'this is unprecedented' and concluding with 'Starmer is finished'.

But it's not huge or unprecedented. And those posters have an agenda which is to try to 'finish' Starmer. They're stating what they want to happen as fact.

I don’t go on Twitter.
I’m going by what I can see in the farming community around me.

I applaud your OU, seriously.

As to tax havens, I think some form of global agreement is highly unlikely - for various reasons.

If you otherwise subscribe to ‘deglobalisation’ (I do), then arguably inequality will continue to worsen.

I suddenly agree with what you are saying. I understand I am a dreamer. I have always been a dreamer and maybe I want to live in a utopian world. Unfortunately, I know that's not the reality. So sadly, there is always going to be poor and rich. It's just that sometimes, in may, I feel it deep inside.I look at people and I think it's so sad

It's just taking it back to Elon Musk. When somebody has got that so much wealth, the amazing wealth you would never ever be able to do with that in your lifetime. How much more good could he be doing?
I keep saying to myself, if I win the lottery it once I have sorted myself out medically and healthwise, I really would love to buy cheap houses, sort them out, give them to like homeless people to live in a very, very subsidised rents that would then be put back to more housing because I don't understand they keep saying there's not enough housing in this country. We have loads of terrace style houses in poor towns empty , that could be actually built up again

Op, I’d like to hear more about your hopes for the revolution. How rich will people have to be before they’re guillotined?
Or will it just be anyone who voted Tory? I’m sure there’s plenty of CCTV to show Tory posters in windows before elections and maybe people can denounce their neighbours.
Will those who’ve posted anti Labour views on here or twitter or any other platform be tracked down and guillotined?
It’s a shame the Berlin Wall came down when it did. You would’ve fitted into East Germany perfectly.

Yes I agree about educated vs uneducated, but whether someone is eloquent or has a degree is irrelevant when it comes to voting, as we’ve recently seen in US.

What seems to be key is finding a way for both sides to communicate more effectively, because the constant demonising is getting us nowhere.

I’m genuinely politically homeless right now. All politics is divisive and unhelpful and change is necessary. If that makes me disingenuous then so be it.

Because Labour historically do not value farming and land owners. Why would they vote for them?

Conservatives are cnuts but they value the land and food security in a way that Labour openly don’t.

Musk's government department is named after an internet meme and you think our government is a joke?

Our dear leader said that some women have penises. I think that's more worrying than a department being named after a meme.
