Staying in PJs all day?

HighburyLass · 20/11/2024 21:41

Anyone else not find this appealing? Or even for the morning?
I generally get dressed straight after breakfast because somehow I start to feel a bit grufty if I don't.
I know loads of people find it a treat to load around in pjs all day.

No judgement, just wondering if it's the majority.

Also I have had a chronic illness for many years and wonder if being bedridden for 2 or 3 days regularly has made me equate pjs all day with being unwell.

Just pondering!

I’m PMSL here at all the people tying themselves up in knots explaining that they shower and put on underwear and clean pyjamas, but they are still like totally slobbing out in their PJs.

For goodness sake. Unless you are actually still in the garment you slept in you’re just dressed in low quality clothes.

I wear either pyjamas or a nighty to bed. I do not wear a bra or knickers. Sometimes at the weekend I am still in my night clothes, under my fleecy dressing gown, WITH NO PANTS ON, at 5pm.

That is what spending the day in your pyjamas means.

There is some lovely loungewear out there. Which some people don't look slobby in. Look online. Trust me some are really not low quality.

Er, OK. Not sure what that has to do with my post?

I was just saying they aren't all low quality. Not you but some posters act like people are sitting around looking like Onslow and his wife from Keepng Up Appearances.

I couldn't sit with no pants on but that's my issue now yours.

I've had pyjamas on all day, answered the door to a delivery driver. DH came home and had a shower and put some on. Comfy.

We all get dressed before heading downstairs for breakfast otherwise we'd never make it out the house ever, and certainly never be on time for anything!

But my kids are small, 4y and 18m. Does it change when they get older?

I love my work days when I have breakfast in my pjs in peace while the rest of the household are still in bed! 😍

Chipsahoy · 21/11/2024 20:20

I don’t own any pjs. Hate wearing them at night and would never wear any in the day. I have soft day clothes but not really leisure wear either.
My youngest wears pjs but teens don’t. They live in joggers and hoodies though.

There's another thread about this going on at the moment. I put this picture on that thread.
It's a pair of pyjamas from the Primark website.
Can you explain the difference between these and a pair of trousers and t-shirt?
Because to me they are the same and are perfectly normal to wear all day at home.

Patterned jersey bottoms and a coordinating top look like pyjamas to me. Whether you call them pyjamas or loungewear, they aren't something I'd wear once I'd got up and had a shower in the morning.

Needmorelego · 21/11/2024 20:49

@AllProperTeaIsTheft that's odd because I see plenty of trousers (actual trousers) in fancy pattern material. More of a summer thing but there's always loads everywhere. Most people who wear them usually wear a plain top so not to clash.

Needmorelego · 21/11/2024 20:53

@AllProperTeaIsTheft seriously what is the difference between these?
One pair are "pyjamas" and one pair are "haram pants style trousers".

Harem, not haram!

Haram is the word that Muslims use for things that are forbidden by their religion!

@WhatapityWapiti ooops.
Apologies 🙁

Needmorelego · 20/11/2024 22:42

@thatsawhopperthatlemon yes but on these threads it's usually established that the "wear jammies all day" people usually put on a CLEAN pair in the morning. Not the ones they slept in.
HTH 😂

I don't. I always shower at night, before I go to bed, and put on clean pajamas. Since I don't pee the bed or anything, I feel no need to change out of those pajamas and into different pajamas in the morning when I'm staying at home.

Motherofdragons20 · 22/11/2024 03:34

I wouldn’t stay in pjs all day but I definitely have “house clothes” that I will put on after a shower if I’m not planning on going out all day. Just wide leg joggers, comfy non wired bra and a t shirt, comfy for lying about but reasonably dressed for answering the door or unexpected visitors Hair shoved up in a clip.

Chicooo · 22/11/2024 03:48

On the rare occasion I do it won't be what a slept in.

I sleep naked or in a nightie. And never underwear.

So if I've got PJs on in the day it'll be with underwear, having had a wash. Generally is joggers and a comfy hoody though if I want to make a "I'm not leaving the house today" vibe.

VivienneDelacroix · 22/11/2024 04:00

I can't wear pyjamas downstairs, it makes me feel disgusting and slovenly. My daughter is the same, she's only 10 but if anyone suggests she goes downstairs in her pyjamas to have breakfast or do something she'll absolutely not do it before getting dressed. I don't wear pyjamas in bed either, so basically I have pyjamas to wear in my bedroom and bathroom! But as soon as I get into bed they come off (unless it's incredibly cold).

NeedANewOne25 · 22/11/2024 07:52

@VivienneDelacroix I don’t understand this, what would you do in the bedroom where you need to wear pyjamas but not be in bed ? 🤔

CarrotPencil · 22/11/2024 07:56

pointlesspoints · 20/11/2024 23:20

I never wear clothes in the house, PJs for me.

Same. And I rarely wear PJs in bed 😄 I think a lot of outrage comes from people assuming daytime PJ wearers just never shower or get changed 😄

TeamPolin · 22/11/2024 09:26

I don't mind jammies on lazy Sundays, but they'd have to be clean ones, not the ones I'd slept in all night. And I'd need a wash....

RosyappleA · 22/11/2024 11:58

I am another one who has to get out of them. I associate them with grease and sweat (even if not visible) and just cannot be productive in them. Also, I don’t like food anywhere near them or my bed. I also hate overly casual clothing too tbf like you I associate them with being ill or having a rough day which is okay but most days I like to make more of an effort to feel more motivated.

Are you a particularly greasy person?

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 22/11/2024 13:57

Error404pagenotfound · 21/11/2024 16:52

Not necessarily.

If I’m working from home or studying on a weekend, I’ll get up, have a shower and put on clean pyjamas, it’s more like loungewear actually but there isn’t any difference really.

Perhaps it is just me then, because I couldn't imagine wearing pyjamas during the daytime unless I was ill and flat out on the sofa.

TitaniasAss · 21/11/2024 15:47

I would never wear PJs all day, it's not for me, but I have no idea why some people get so upset about other people who do this. Why does anyone else care what someone else wears in their own house?

That in my opinion, IS weird.

It's pretty difficult to answer the thread without voicing your opinion though.

Its not as if anyone actually gives a rats arse what you do. People are just saying why they think wearing pyjamas all day is a bad idea. Theres no actual fashion police you know.

ivegoneswimming · 23/11/2024 00:41

@AndThereSheGoes

How can it be a bad idea for some people if they are enjoying down time in the outfit of their choice?

If people want to have a chill in the house day in jeans incase someone out of the blue wants to nip in that's fine. We lock our door and love our chill time.

Sorry, I missed out the " for them". I thought it was obvious given as I sad there's no actual fashion police.
I shall rephrase ; People have explained many times why it's a bad idea for them. It feels wrong, makes them feel grubby/ slovenly, associations of being ill etc. No one has said you can't wear whatever you like have they?
