Staying in PJs all day?

HighburyLass · 20/11/2024 21:41

Anyone else not find this appealing? Or even for the morning?
I generally get dressed straight after breakfast because somehow I start to feel a bit grufty if I don't.
I know loads of people find it a treat to load around in pjs all day.

No judgement, just wondering if it's the majority.

Also I have had a chronic illness for many years and wonder if being bedridden for 2 or 3 days regularly has made me equate pjs all day with being unwell.

Just pondering!

I stay in pyjamas sometimes if I’m not doing much. I’m often in loungewear, joggers etc as they’re good for walking the dogs and that doesn’t look too different to my pyjamas anyway. I’ll happily answer the door in pyjamas. I don’t see the issue.

I’m in pyjamas now that just look like joggers and a hoodie.

I frequently answer the door in pyjamas! Someone's knocking on my door, it's my private space, I'm not going to start fretting that I'm not dressed in daytime clothes. I really don't see what's embarrassing about accepting a parcel or whatever in PJs.

Same. It baffles me how much people care about what literal strangers think of them.

Same, and also the assumption that a delivery person would even think anything of a person being in pyjamas in their own home. They might be poorly, tired, sleeping thru the day due to working nights, or simply feel comfy in their PJs. I really can't think of any solid thing that is negative about a person wearing pyjamas in their own home!

DazedAndConfused321 · 21/11/2024 16:07

I get the feeling gross thing, I usually shower at night so I don't mind wearing them until later in the day. I wouldn't answer the door wearing them, but I don't mind wearing them on a home day. Tbh I usually wear loungewear co-ords that are basically PJs but more socially acceptable just in case I leave the house...

I think some people must be very insecure and worry about what they look like a lot if they find answering the door in pyjamas embarrassing.

Genuine, non-snarky question, what is it that makes you feel you can't/won't answer the door in them? If someone knocks in the morning before you're dressed do you rush to get into day clothes before answering?

autumn1610 · 21/11/2024 16:18

I have ones I put on for example when I get back from work but then I put different ones on when I go to bed. So if I was chilling at home I would get a shower and put my “day time” ones on or leggings and a jumper which is essentially no different from pjs

Elphame · 21/11/2024 16:26

Only if I'm ill enough to be staying in bed.

Get up, wash, get dressed in jeans and suitable layers. I don't have any "lounge wear" either!

I would freeze in those Primark pjs pictured above. It's 12C in my house at the moment

ivegoneswimming · 21/11/2024 16:34

I've just opened the door to a delivery driver in lounge wear and he didn't look shocked at all.

ExpertlyDecorated · 21/11/2024 16:34

Re answering the door, you don't know who it's going to be, delivery drivers are one thing, but it might be a friend or neighbour, I don't wear a bra under pyjamas and none of mine are very thick so I'd feel self-conscious in that respect, also they might think I was ill, or that they'd got me out of bed.

I went into the office yesterday and didn't wear a bra!

CremeBruhlee · 21/11/2024 16:44

On mat leave I would get up with husband and shower first and then get back into clean pjs. After drying hair if enough energy. With wet hair after a rough night. I love a lazy Sunday afternoon having a shower and getting into clean pjs to have a lazy afternoon staying in but wouldn’t do this all day as would get antsy I think

I think clean pants, bra, a wash & fresh pyjamas/lounge wear is my favourite not leaving the house all day wear.

If neighbour knocked it would be fine, friends don't call unexpected and my family wouldn't bat an eyelid.

I couldn't sit in scruffy looking ones.

Crispynoodle · 21/11/2024 16:47

I have day time pjs (lounge wear) night time pjs and workwear

ivegoneswimming · 21/11/2024 16:50

I don't buy them long t-shirt nighty things though. I couldn't lounge around in them. It has to be trousers and top.

Error404pagenotfound · 21/11/2024 16:52

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 20/11/2024 22:39

The difference is that you just slept in the actual pyjamas all night.

hth

Not necessarily.

If I’m working from home or studying on a weekend, I’ll get up, have a shower and put on clean pyjamas, it’s more like loungewear actually but there isn’t any difference really.

GoldCat255 · 21/11/2024 16:55

There is something fundamentally wrong with an adult person who refuses to dress like a civilised human being.
Wearing the PJs all day long is a clear sign of lack of discipline. How can I trust someone who does not even make the effort to put some clean clothes on ?

Pickingmyselfup · 21/11/2024 17:04

I don't wear pyjamas but I can't see how it's any different to me wearing my tracksuit bottoms and oodie which I'm doing now.

I don't see what it is about pyjamas that make others think that the wearers are dirty or lazy. This morning I did the school run (2 miles on foot) did my shift on my feet at work then walked to school and back again. As soon as I got in I took off my work clothes (trousers saved for tomorrow, rest in the wash and put on my tracksuit bottoms and oodie.

I've put some washing away and I'm now making dinner before I go for a run and to the gym.

I would be doing exactly the same if I were wearing pyjamas except I personally don't find pyjamas comfortable, there is something uncomfortable about the waistband in comparison to tracksuit bottoms and they always seem tighter and smaller.

Bonjovispjs · 21/11/2024 17:05

I'm never dressed when I'm at home, get into my pj's the minute I get in, comfort trumps all.

Needmorelego · 21/11/2024 17:07

@GoldCat255 but as many on here have pointed out - the pyjamas they wear ARE CLEAN and not the ones they slept in. So they have made an effort to get dressed.

No, I never have, even through various health issues. Getting up, showered and dressed just makes me feel better.👍

And there is something obviously wrong with an adult human judging what another adult human does in their own home. Crazy old world.

Do you sniff people's ordinary clothes to make sure they are clean before deciding to trust them?
