Staying in PJs all day?

HighburyLass · 20/11/2024 21:41

Anyone else not find this appealing? Or even for the morning?
I generally get dressed straight after breakfast because somehow I start to feel a bit grufty if I don't.
I know loads of people find it a treat to load around in pjs all day.

No judgement, just wondering if it's the majority.

Also I have had a chronic illness for many years and wonder if being bedridden for 2 or 3 days regularly has made me equate pjs all day with being unwell.

Just pondering!

Love pj days but i don't wear mine in bed. My pj's are more of a legging bottom with a t-shirt. Similar to the photo up the thread.
No one except a delivery or my sibling will knock the door so that doesn't phase me.
Its rare I haven't got dressed on any given day but I do come home and instantly put pj bottoms on.

I love a PJ day. My bones hurt and it’s freezing outside. I don’t sleep in them and I shower daily. I don’t know why people associate them with being dirty, it’s possible to put on a clean pair after a shower. When I’m not working I wear track suits so it’s not much different, they’re just indoor clothes.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/11/2024 00:04

I love a jama day, but actually sleep in a nightshirt, so for me it’s joggers and a cosy jumper at this time of year. I’ll usually have a bath rather than a shower if it’s a day at home, but always clean/clean clothes.

I make most of my own clothes, including my pyjamas and if I'm going nowhere often change out of my jammies into joggers and a top, often made using the same pattern as the pyjamas. My day pyjamas tend to be heavier or more expensive fabrics and my night pyjamas more colourful or in prints I'd never wear in public.

Currently wearing this pair with red bottoms and I have this zebra print for my next pair.

Nice clothes

purpleme12 · 21/11/2024 00:08

No don't like pyjama days. I get dressed after breakfast. Sometimes it's rather late but no can't stay in pyjamas.

Supersimkin7 · 21/11/2024 00:12

I love pyjama days when I’m sore with aching joints - warm, soft clothing makes a huge difference to improve pain relief.

My tip - cotton tee maxi dresses from
m and s are much thicker and less betraying colours than nightdresses, and can be hastily dressed up for buying milk.

itsalwaysthesame · 21/11/2024 00:12

No as I don't wear PJ's ever, I sleep in a vest top and knickers all year round, trousers in bed are just bloody uncomfortable.

I do go braless round the house though but wear a jumper & leggings with a vest underneath

Autumnlife · 21/11/2024 00:15

I wear joggers or leggings around the house nice which are nice and comfortable during the day. I do put pjs on after an evening shower though.

Christmasissoon · 21/11/2024 00:20

I must be different to the majority then 🙈If not going out, we stay in pjs (me & dd, Dh doesn’t have pyjamas and gets ready early) Also as soon as I get home I put pyjamas on. I can’t sit around comfortably in jeans etd

AcrossthePond55 · 21/11/2024 00:21

Doesn't everyone have a 'pj wardrobe' like I do? Sleeping pjs, daytime pjs, summer and winter pjs, 'entertaining' pjs (for when close family and friends drop by). There is nothing like slipping into a nice pj bottom and cosy sweater or fleece shirt on a cold day or a nice pair of pj capris/shorts and a cool cami or t on a hot day?

Grabyourpassportandmyhand · 21/11/2024 00:28

I'm in two minds about it. I tend to change into pjs early in the evening for practical reasons. I don't care if I get cooking smells on them as they are easier to bung into the washing machine. They dry quickly and I don't iron them.

I prefer knowing that I'm sitting on my sofa in pjs instead of clothes that have sat on chairs in coffee shops, waiting rooms and esp public transport.

I prefer to cuddle my pet in clothes that I'm not worried about threads catching or getting pet hair on them or need to be dry cleaned.

However, I know that when I wear pjs all day, it is usually because I am not leaving the house. When I have days that I don't leave the house, my mood is low and I don't care what I look like.

Lifestooshort71 · 21/11/2024 00:31

I don't own pj's as such (sleep in cotton chemises) but I do wear comfy elastic waist jersey trousers and assorted loose tops if I'm in all day. I think the biggest difference with actual pj's is that they're thinner and more form revealing if the postman knocks?

mawik · 21/11/2024 00:35

Due to heating malfunction (house currently showing as 6.5oC, as soon as home I am in pj’s with big fleecy thingy on, our local delivery folk are used to me! Also on a Sunday I drop my daughter to work at 8am, drive in my pj’s and big fleecy thing on!

lensen · 21/11/2024 00:43

I go out at least once a day and I'd never leave the house in PJs or leisure wear, although my clothes are fairly casual (jeans and cotton top), it makes me feel more dressed than PJs or trackies. I'd hate to have to open the door wearing PJs, so even if I'm at home during the day I'm always dressed. Once I'm at home for the day and know I won't be going out again, I change into trackies and fleece.

My dcs never have a PJ day at home unless they are too ill to leave the house. Even at weekends or holidays (or through lockdown) they get out at least once during the day.

Bbq1 · 21/11/2024 01:33

BondStreet · 20/11/2024 22:47

I have so many things to do with the DC on the weekends that I’m hardly ever in all day but on those occasions where we have a cosy day in, we will get up, have breakfast, shower and then we’ll sometimes (especially in the winter) we’ll put a fresh set of pyjamas on and lounge about. Sometimes I’ll put my sportswear on, just depends really.

Key here is clean pyjamas and a refreshing shower.

So you sleep in pyjamas, get up shower and put on clean pj's then put on a another pair of clean pj's ar. night? So, you're going through 3 pairs of pj's in 24 hours!?

invisibleboo · 21/11/2024 01:47

I wear pjs all day every day. Never wear anything else.

NoisyDenimShaker · 21/11/2024 03:24

I find it depressing to wear PJs all day. Plus, there's no sense of relaxation when you change out of your clothes into your nightwear at the end of the day!

AlisonDonut · 21/11/2024 03:33

I can't even paint in slippers, let alone wear PJ's all day unless I'm really ill. Last time was when I had shingles. Unless it is a snow day and I've already got the wood in, and I can start the fire and just snuggle down all day then maybe but it is very rare.

I put my clothes on the radiator to warm up in the winter before heading out to do stuff so I'd feel like that heat was wasted if I just got into another pair of pjs. I like to change into them at the end of the day once all my stuff is done. And then put feet up in front of the fire.

echt · 21/11/2024 03:56

Since my first action of the day, after listening toThe Archers and having a cup of tea is to walk the dog, I'm straight into dog-walking togs from the bed.

Later I might upgrade to clothes for volunteer or tutoring work.

PJ s all day? Nah.

As summer is about to kick in here in Melbourne I see there are very nice two-piece pants suits about, and yes, they look like PJs. I might contemplate them in my front courtyard with a G&T in the evening, but in public? Nay, nay and thrice nay.

Pistolpunk · 21/11/2024 04:01

I certainly do lounge around in my Pyjamas all day due to working nightshifts. First day off if I've nothing on after a hot shower its fresh clean pyjamas, hair chucked up and couldnt care less what delivery people or postie thinks. Cant beat a pyjama day.

Isometimeswonder · 21/11/2024 04:07

I don't see the point of changing out of a pair of pjs and putting on another pair.
I have however worn the ones I slept in for many many hours after getting up....

StarlightLady · 21/11/2024 04:14

I don’t own any PJs and have a couple of nighties stuffed in the bottom of the wardrobe for hospital etc. l sleep naked and have a warm dressing gown for when l first get up. I’m not comfy wearing anything in bed; knickers when l’m on a period though.

l’ve never been a great trouser fan and have a few favourite loose dresses that l tend to wear about the house, but l could answer the door in them and go out in them too without a problem.

Tarkan · 21/11/2024 04:20

I had a pyjama day today and it was lovely. I don't sleep in them and I have a few pairs so I can switch between them. When it's cold outside and I don't need to go anywhere it's comforting to have nice soft cosy ones on like I did today. I have multiple health issues and sometimes "normal" clothes hurt my skin too much so I struggle wearing them, I rarely have that with pyjamas (on rare days even they're too much but I have ways of coping on the worst days).

I won't leave the house wearing them though. Although usually on my worst days when I can't get changed I wouldn't manage to walk to the shops anyway, that's when someone else in the house would go down or I would order a delivery.

Copperoliverbear · 21/11/2024 05:07

If I didn't have to go out all day, I would have a bath and put clean pjs on, not stay in the ones I slept in, l love my pjs.

Flatandhappy · 21/11/2024 05:17

I’m retired. 3/4 mornings a week I will be up and out by 7 to go to pilates or the gym or to give someone a lift, other days I will cheerfully stay in my PJs until I have to go do something. On PJ days I try and get someone else to walk the dog to avoid getting dressed as I find PJs comfy for around the house. If I am cleaning I prefer to just wear my PJs so I can chuck them in the wash when I am done then I shower.
