Staying in PJs all day?

HighburyLass · 20/11/2024 21:41

Anyone else not find this appealing? Or even for the morning?
I generally get dressed straight after breakfast because somehow I start to feel a bit grufty if I don't.
I know loads of people find it a treat to load around in pjs all day.

No judgement, just wondering if it's the majority.

Also I have had a chronic illness for many years and wonder if being bedridden for 2 or 3 days regularly has made me equate pjs all day with being unwell.

Just pondering!

Am I the only one who can't be doing with bosoms swinging around all day? I'd also be cold with just pyjamas, unless I'm in bed.

My bosoms don't swing. They barley extend past my rib cage!

...I've only got one left and that tends to behave itself (scared shitless probably as to what happened to its counterpart) so no bras ever for me!

@ForGreyKoala Why? To be less comfortable? I can't fathom there are people in this thread who'd rather wear JEANS if they're just staying at home all day Confused

Whereas I can’t fathom why you’d buy jeans that aren’t comfy enough to wear all day and why you’d wear PJs during the daytime, each to their own. However I’m on of those who never stays at home all day and am usually in and out a lot not just once. So I’d be forever changing.

daffodilandtulip · 21/11/2024 07:28

I like the idea of it, but I usually get to a point where I feel dirty and lazy, plus the dog needs walking. So days like this probably result in a bath and a small window of being dressed that lasts a couple of hours, then the pjs return.

ChishiyaBat · 21/11/2024 07:30

I don't sleep in pj's, I come home from work, wash, put pj's on, take them off before I go to bed and put them back on in the morning. I buy a 4 pack of mens massive t shirts, or tshirts that are too old to wear out and have about 20 pairs of lounge/pj bottoms, it's a comfort thing for me. I wouldn't go out in them though. As for bras, I never wear a proper one unless i'm going "out" out, crop tops for work and nothing the rest of the time, but I don't have big boobs, so don't need much support.

DustyLee123 · 21/11/2024 07:31

I don’t know why, but I’d feel embarrassed if I got caught still in PJ’s if someone knocked at my door, so I like to get dressed early. I’ve no idea where it comes from.

Sheknowsaboutme · 21/11/2024 07:34

Absolutely not. Its lazy and scruffy.

Oblomov24 · 21/11/2024 07:39

I do. Or, In fact rarely pyjamas, in that I've got a couple of pairs I only use if I go away with my friends, ie if someone sees me overnight. Normally I sleep naked, and then put on a dressing gown and potter around the house till I have a shower.

ForGreyKoala · 21/11/2024 06:51

What's the point? Might as well put actual clothes on if you are going to do that.

I had a pj snow day Tuesday - doesn’t happen often . But had a chilled out lazy day which was needed . I had a bath late afternoon - clean pj’s then slept in them . I also slept in them last night but about to get dressed because I am going to work.

I don’t see the issue really .🤔

Petrine · 21/11/2024 07:44

I always get dressed and ready for the day after breakfast. I don’t find clothing uncomfortable and would hate to be slopping around in PJ’s no matter what sort or whether they’re clean on.

Why do people buy clothes that they find so uncomfortable they can’t wear them?

fivebyfivebuffy · 21/11/2024 07:53

I've kept my pj bottoms on today to WFH. My endo has flared, they're nice and loose around my stomach and they will be going in the wash later anyway
Changed my top and put a bra on!

Needmorelego · 21/11/2024 07:03

@ForGreyKoala what's the difference between a pair of pyjamas and a pair of comfy trousers and a top though?
Nothing. Except the department the retailer sells them in.
They are "actual clothes".

Pyjamas are different from clothes. Pyjamas are for going to bed in, clothes are for daytime wear. I can buy clothes from lots of shops which don't sell pyjamas.

Exactly this!! None of my clothes are so uncomfortable that I have to wear pjs to feel comfortable. Confused

Inmydreams88 · 21/11/2024 08:04

I must be in the minority then because I often don’t bother getting changed out of my pjs/lounge wear sets if I know I’m not leaving the house. I’m not making up excuses to the postman either, I don’t really care if he sees me in my pjs 🤷🏻‍♀️ And when I do come home I put my pjs/lounge sets on immediately.

I don't. I work from home 3 days a week and rarely do I get out of my pj bottoms. I just throw a hoodie or a jumper over my pj top.

Postman can think what he likes!

I couldn't give a monkeys about what delivery drivers think of me wearing when I open the door. They probably feel the same. The ones I see regularly (👋 to the lovely Evri lady) have seen me wearing the full sliding scale of pjs to smart attire.

I usually dress but have been known to complete the slob look with a dressing gown for a days work at home WITHOUT EVEN SHOWERING (shock horror) and quite enjoy it 😆

My clothes are comfortable but if I swell up so much that I look pregnant (the irony there) then I revert to pj bottoms when I'm at home
Just easier rather than sitting with trousers undone etc

My 12 yo wore the same pair of ( admittedly very comfy) pjs all last weekend, Friday arvo until Monday morning. You'd have to wrestle them off him. Obviously if we are going out he showers and changes but if we are at home all weekend it is a pj weekend. I'm regularly in mine until about midday. My DH has to leave at 7 am so gets dressed for that, but is back by 9am, and regularly comes home and puts his pjs back on.. We are obviously a very lazy family. Apologies.

Nothing wrong with lazing around in pjs in the comfort of your own home at weekends, but did your 12 year-old son really not go out all weekend, and stay in the same pjs for three days and three nights - so he didn't wash his pits and bits for three days?

OneGreenOrca · 21/11/2024 08:16

I'm always in PJS/loungewear and only get dressed if I have to go out past the local shops.

I don't wear them at night though, I just wear underwear to sleep in.

pointlesspoints · 21/11/2024 08:17

@Ihateslugs

If I am not dressed when a delivery arrives, I open the door a crack and say “ You just caught me in time, I’m about to go in the shower

As someone who briefly worked as a delivery driver, I would find this much weirder than a pair of pyjamas. People wear PJs in the house all the time, the delivery driver isn't interested in what you wear, they don't know your working hours and neither do they care. They care about a successful delivery so they can get paid. Announcing you are just about to have a shower is strange, particularly given the vast majority of drivers are male.

BigDahliaFan · 21/11/2024 08:17

I sometimes wear comfy pants, but tbh rarely lounge around the house all day unless I'm ill.

HeadNorth · 21/11/2024 08:19

Being in PJs all day is my idea of hell - I would need to seriously ill/incapacitated. Even post childbirth, when I have broken bones, traumatically bereaved I have always got changed into some sort of clothes during the day.

Full disclosure - I have horses so getting up early and outside whatever the weather/circumstances is baked into my psyche. Hanging around the house all day in bed clothes would be the opposite of a treat for me. I think I would sink into a slough of despair if I didn't get dressed in the morning.

Needmorelego · 21/11/2024 08:22

@ForGreyKoala says who?
Pyjamas, leggings, haram pants, trackies.... it's all the same to me.
Pieces of material. That's all.

According to the dictionary "a loose jacket and trousers worn in bed."

You do you, some of us just don't want to wear pjs all day and sorry, but I think people who do are plain weird and if you read this thread you will find I'm not alone.
