Staying in PJs all day?

HighburyLass · 20/11/2024 21:41

Anyone else not find this appealing? Or even for the morning?
I generally get dressed straight after breakfast because somehow I start to feel a bit grufty if I don't.
I know loads of people find it a treat to load around in pjs all day.

No judgement, just wondering if it's the majority.

Also I have had a chronic illness for many years and wonder if being bedridden for 2 or 3 days regularly has made me equate pjs all day with being unwell.

Just pondering!

I don't know but I have comfy house clothes so when I wake, if we're not immediately leaving the house I put these on. Normally leggings and a jumper or sweatpants and jumper. I couldn't sit in my pjs all day but I do like to be comfy at home.

I also change into my house clothes as soon as I get home from anywhere as well.

sandgrown · 21/11/2024 05:48

Do those of you with dogs walk them in your pyjamas?

FergussSingsTheBlues · 21/11/2024 05:53

Just no, it gives me the idk I’m fully showered and dressed minutes after I wake up. Bed made, ready to face the day - can you tell I’ve got adhd?

There's another thread about this going on at the moment. I put this picture on that thread.
It's a pair of pyjamas from the Primark website.
Can you explain the difference between these and a pair of trousers and t-shirt?
Because to me they are the same and are perfectly normal to wear all day at home.

The only difference would be if you've slept in them then stayed in the same outfit for the rest of the day!

The actual outfit is irrelevant - it's if you sleep then spend the day in the same clothes that's a no no for me.

coffeesaveslives · 21/11/2024 06:13

I never wear pyjamas but I do have a lazy "outfit" of leggings, t-shirt and oversized jumper which I practically live in. Always get a shower first though, otherwise I feel really grubby.

K0OLA1D · 21/11/2024 06:15

Yep we do. Then normally shower and in clean ones before bed.

My neighbour does morning and night. 🤷‍♀️

Beezknees · 21/11/2024 06:36

I need to shower, I feel gross if I don't. Don't mind a day at home but I'd always shower and change into clean clothes, even if it's just a hoodie and joggers.

mamechange · 21/11/2024 06:37

My 12 yo wore the same pair of ( admittedly very comfy) pjs all last weekend, Friday arvo until Monday morning. You'd have to wrestle them off him. Obviously if we are going out he showers and changes but if we are at home all weekend it is a pj weekend. I'm regularly in mine until about midday. My DH has to leave at 7 am so gets dressed for that, but is back by 9am, and regularly comes home and puts his pjs back on.. We are obviously a very lazy family. Apologies.

NotAPersonPerson · 21/11/2024 06:38

I'm not ashamed to admit I regularly have pyjama days where I'll get out of bed and stay in my pyjamas & dressing gown for two days the day.

Some of us are lazy slobs on our days off

Or unwell and unable.

It’s not always a free choice to not shower or not change.

YearningForAWinteryWinter · 21/11/2024 06:47

It's not for me. I like to be in something that I can go out in if need be.
I don't like the kids being in pjs either but joggers and t shirt/sweat shirt is fine.

ForGreyKoala · 21/11/2024 06:50

I'm 65 and never in my life have I worn pyjamas all day, unless I'm actually sick, and even then I still put clothes on should I decide to get out of bed for a while. It just doesn't appeal to me.

I do know one person who often stays in their pjs at the weekend, but I don't know anyone else who does. However, I'm not in the UK.

QueSyrahSyrah · 21/11/2024 06:51

@Bbq1 No, if I know I'm staying in all day I'll shower and put on clean pyjamas in the morning (or change into them later if I've been out in the morning) but then usually I'll sleep in those ones.

The place we're temporarily living now is really warm in the bedroom but much cooler in living areas so actually I've been wearing long warm pyjamas by day and then shortie pyjamas for bed, but I wear both 2-3 times before washing like anything else that's not got stained or sweaty. I'm on Maternity leave so have had more PJ days over the past 6 months than I would normally have.

Needmorelego · 20/11/2024 22:42

@thatsawhopperthatlemon yes but on these threads it's usually established that the "wear jammies all day" people usually put on a CLEAN pair in the morning. Not the ones they slept in.
HTH 😂

What's the point? Might as well put actual clothes on if you are going to do that.

QueSyrahSyrah · 21/11/2024 06:53

@ForGreyKoala Why? To be less comfortable? I can't fathom there are people in this thread who'd rather wear JEANS if they're just staying at home all day Confused

Futurethinking2026 · 21/11/2024 06:54

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 20/11/2024 22:39

The difference is that you just slept in the actual pyjamas all night.

hth

See, I don’t sleep in my pjs. I will put them on on an evening once I’ve had dinner and settled for the evening then take them off and sleep in my pants & vest and pop them back on when I get it to keep warm etc.

reluctantbrit · 21/11/2024 06:54

I agree, it's getting up, shower and jeans/top each day unless I am too ill to get up in the first place.

I am also not someone who changes the minute work is over, I stay in my normal clothes until it's time to go to bed.

The lounge wear/daytime PJ industry got large, people get up, shower and change into clothes which aren't PJ to sleep in, most are far too warm. But that's not "staying in my PJs all day" for me, that's not getting dressed to go out.

The amount of washing must be huge if people wear 2 outfits each day and a new PJ each night.

I'm sitting here wearing trackpants, which I find far more comfortable than pj pants. I also don't find JEANS uncomfortable and would far rather wear them than stay in my pjs. Sorry, I just think it's weird. The day I can't get dressed in the morning is the day I will know I've given up!

Fuelledbylatte · 21/11/2024 06:58

Actually, pre COVID I did on occasion have a PJ day at the weekend- including chucking a jumper on top to walk dogs etc

Nowadays it just reminds me of the relentless lock down - where all time merged into one. So it's never come back to me as a way to chill...I'd rather wash and put on comfy joggers & a hoody.

Bakedpumpkin · 21/11/2024 06:59

I have a shower early evening or later on then put pjs on over the top of knickers / shorts and a shirt. I take them off to go to bed then will put them back on if staying home the next morning, I will then shower mid morning and put them back on with new under bits.
I have lots of different ones and some could pass for loungewear and I have been known to put a long coat over to pop out in car or collect kids 😁

Bakedpumpkin · 21/11/2024 07:01

I also have to get normal clothes off as soon as I get in, my jeans are only worn for about an hour before I leave to go out ever in my house. Just not comfy.

Needmorelego · 21/11/2024 07:03

@ForGreyKoala what's the difference between a pair of pyjamas and a pair of comfy trousers and a top though?
Nothing. Except the department the retailer sells them in.
They are "actual clothes".

DutchCowgirl · 21/11/2024 07:06

I have “comfy house clothes” for several occasions. But my real pjs are for in bed, with pjs on I get cold wearing them around the house all day… so then i’d need a dressing gown on top of it. And I really cant were that all day!
So I put on fleece and sweaters and joggers and other soft fabrics.

sunsettosunrise · 21/11/2024 07:07

I stay in my PJs until about lunch time on a Saturday morning. I sleep in, have breakie, do the housework and by then its about midday. Its seems a bit pointless to dress up for the housework (fresh pair of pjs for saturday night!) but generally speaking I dont like to live in my pjs whilst at home. I stay in work clothes until bed unless I go swimming / gym in the evening.
