Anything at all that you found whether it be a bargain or a life hack... feel free to share. I'll try to think of some too

What do you use it for in your personal life?

Recently I’ve used Chat gpt to plan an itinerary for a city break, to give suggestions about what to put in a card, to draft a diplomatic text to a touchy relative, to come up with ideas for sustainable things to put in home-made Christmas crackers…the list goes on.

I even asked for advice on a moral dilemma I had and it really helped to to clarify my thoughts.

ChatGPT. It has absolutely changed my life. Mostly professional, but I'm using it for personal stuff too. Game changer.

Samer. It's cut my working day in half! Of course, I dully expect it to take my job completely one of these days...

How does this work??!!! I need to know

Apparently most pills float, so pill, swig of water, head forward, wait a second and then swallow!

Mine’s a nerdy one. Parts Work / Internal Family Systems is my latest interest.

The theory is we’re made up of parts (eg. part of me wants to stop smoking, part of me wants to carry on or part of me is hurt, part of me is angry. The parts fall into 3 groups - exiles, managers and firefighters. Exiles are parts we push down or hide, managers are trying to keep things safe and firefighters are immediately soothing bad feelings (eg. Bad habits).

I’m finding it very interesting thinking about things through this lens.

Internal Family Systems

How is Revolution Laundry different to any other laundry?

Chat GPT but I need to learn more, binaural beats playlists on spotify help me fall asleep, weighted blanket.

It's literally washing machines under a little shelter so they don't get rained on. You pay on card and chose your programme, so not a launderette where you might go in and speak to someone.

I'm a 30something grown up and embarrassed to admit I don't even know what you do in a launderette! Are they all automatic? Do you speak to staff? How much does it cost? Do you wait while your washing dries? I'd be embarrassed if I walked in like a numpty not knowing what I was doing and made a fool of myself. Lack of human interaction appeals to me. Yes, I am sad 😂

changedusernameforthis1 · 19/11/2024 17:12

The 5surveys app - always thought it was a scam but I've earned £30 in two weeks just filling in surveys. It can be time consuming and repetitive though.

Cheese on toast, but instead of using butter, spread BBQ sauce on it before topping with cheese. Really tasty!

AirUp bottles for the kids. They drink loads more water now and have stopped nagging for juice all the time.

I've been with Sky for 8 years and only just started using the 2 free cinema tickets you get each month. I had no idea. I don't want to know how much money I've spent on cinema trips over the last 8 years when it would have been free 😂

I CAN use loperamide (Immodium). I thought I was one of the few people it actually gives diarrhoea to, after suffering chemo toxicity when I had my first and only cycle of chemotherapy. I was on massive doses of loperamide for intractable diarrhoea. Then I read that loperamide can cause diarrhoea in some people so I stopped taking it and things improved slightly. Now I'm on another cancer drug which causes diarrhoea and was given codeine to take instead of loperamide - it didn't really work, so when there was a complete balls up with my prescription and I ran out of codeine I thought I'd try loperamide again. Turns out I can take it and it works better than codeine, for me anyway.

Still having a rubbish time though. Only 9 months to go.....

what is the actual advantage of a ChatGPT recipe over one in a book or online, though? given that a ChatGPT search uses 25 times more energy than a google search, the added value would have to be pretty impressive.

It's actually only about 10 times more, still larger but data centres are becoming more energy efficient as time goes on.

Hi ... I started using a 4 litre water distiller over ten years ago.
All these years later, it still disgusts me to see & smell the disgusting deposits in the bottom of the distiller.

The only thing that frustrates me about my counter top machine, is that it doesn't last very long, probably go through an average of one per year, but having said that, it's in use daily... should I expect them to last longer.
May I ask you where you buy yours from and at what price?

If you don't already know, please don't ever decant the distilled water into a plastic bottle... distilled water "pulls", so will pull the toxins fro a plastic bottle into the water.
Always use glass.

thank you - can you @HelloYouGuys or anyone else recommend a particular brand / make of water distiller? had a look on amazon but it's a bit baffling. Also do they require changes of filter or anything else?

Does it get PFAs out of the water and hormones and stuff as well as everything else?

I do wonder as well it might use 10 times more energy but if it can do what it takes you as a human to do in 1/10th or less of the time, surely its a net energy saving, as you'd be using the computer energy / lights at work / making a coffee etc for much longer anyway? I realise my comparison is not a perfect one but human energy and the energy we use at work (electricity etc) has a cost as well.

That a woman who lives in my lane has been trying to be friends for a while, and I somehow didn't realise! She's absolutely lovely and now I have a new friend. She's been so supportive while we've all been poorly and stressed, dropping off sweet little food parcels and nice things. I'm making a hamper for her today and then popping over for a cuppa and a natter.

This is so lovely!

This is so lovely!

She is an absolute sweetheart! We've had fresh eggs from her chickens, veg from her garden, homemade chutneys. Lovely treaty bits! Genuinely such a kind person, she's brightened my gloom of being poorly. Now we're back on the mend we're going to have them over for dinner, and I'm definitely making something a bit special!

All the best to you for the rest of it. I had chemo and radiotherapy earlier in the year and I'm currently on immunotherapy but only until February or not even then if it keeps messing with my lungs! It's so bloody awful and all any of us going through it can do is do our best to get through it without losing too much of ourselves.

FagsMagsandBags · 19/11/2024 22:21

This year, especially since July/August I've discovered the love of pure ice cold water. It had started a little earlier as I became limited in what I could and couldn't drink. Then in July I had major surgery - Oesophagectomy - and for a while I could only have sips of water. I was so thirsty and then I was allowed to have more water and one of the people who helped on he ward would make sure to keep filling me up with really cold water rather than the horrible tap water they had there. I just fell in love with water. I drink other things, fizzy drinks, juice, squash, I don't drink tea or coffee, well green tea but seldom. Anyway, cold water can sometimes be the most delicious and perfect drink - I'm drinking it now!

It's been such a good thing for me because it's cheap and healthy and now it makes me really happy. Yay for water!

I would never have thought about using ChatGPT to try to sort out the moral dilemma in my head. I've just talked it through. The responses have been amazing and really helped me clarify my thinking. Far better than my best friend counsellor could. I'm astounded!

Hi … I learned everything about distillers from Andrew Norton Webbers site.

yes you do need to change the filter, but they a are reasonably priced on eBay

Possibly a stupid question, but do you have to stand by the machine while it dries your clothes? If not, could anyone come and open it and steal your stuff. The one nearest to us is in a really rough part of the city. I looked on the website but couldn't find an answer.

I use one and either sit in the car for 30-40 minutes, take a book, phone, or do some shopping and get back just before its due to finish. Never had anything stolen but I tend to go on Saturday morning when it's mostly regulars who say hello. Has staff during the week and you can pay extra for them to fold it for you. Drop it off in the morning and pick it up between 4 and 6. Barely needs ironing.

Oops didn't realise she was talking about the little laundry shelter things. Try and find a proper launderette.

HelloYouGuys · 20/11/2024 01:20

Please look up Andrew Norton Webber to get info on distilled water.

Thanks 🙏🏻
