Anything at all that you found whether it be a bargain or a life hack... feel free to share. I'll try to think of some too

I just figured out how to sew zips on a basic sewing machine! I'm a beginner and they are basic but useful.

Have been making cases similar to pencil cases but all sizes and for different purposes. Made one from an old pair of pyjama bottoms! Thats the blue stripy one on the pic I'll upload

Yes, I know you all need a pic and I'll post one in a while when I've finished my tea!

If anyone uses frownies at night fabric strapping is a great alternative

ChatGPT. It has absolutely changed my life. Mostly professional, but I'm using it for personal stuff too. Game changer.

Totally agree, it's amazing, and I'm still using the free version. I work in sales and writing compelling emails can be a pain, ChatGPT gets me away from that 'blank page' state.

I can feed it with excel sheets of data and ask it to summarise, then create the outline of a PowerPoint presentation which I just copy and paste into PP. Gamma AI is also excellent for PPs.

It can give feedback on sales plans, offer suggestions for sales drive ideas, write marketing copy for social posts and newsletters, summarise large bodies of text like white papers, books and contracts, generate images... it's uses really are endless and it has saved me sooooo much time in my day to day.

I also use it for recipes! Just tell it what you have in the fridge and it'll give you recipe ideas and meal plans.

It will always require human intervention but it gives you a foundation that you can work from saving so much time.

Everyone should be learning how to use AI, particularly teachers and they seem to have been the really early adopters of the tech.

There are loads of free courses to learn how to use these tools. As they say, AI won't take your job, but someone who knows how to use AI will!!!

Try having your PowerPoint open yourself & then ask it to suggest TLA activities around XYZ subject to last 15 mins of lesson time etc. Then copy & paste what you like into your PowerPoint. I upload texts into it & ask it to read it & make reading comprehensive questions based on it. It can also make quizzes etc. You just got to feed it the right info.

I'm currently experimenting with it marking student work. I've fed it my mark scheme, then took a photo of my student's work (handwritten) & asked it to mark it using said mark scheme... and it did! It said why it gave it what it did & also generated targets for what the student needed to do to get higher marks. Honestly, it's blowing my mind daily.

Are you allowed to do this by your school/LEA? I'm really surprised. We are strictly forbidden to upload students' work on AI .

that you can click on Reader button to read all those news articles which are behind a paywall. I didn't know you could do this. Game changer!

@desidi where is the reader button? Thanks

It was literally one paragraph of handwriting, totally anonymous. I'm also not working at a school. My place is quite proactive into looking into ways to make workload lighter and it's all just an experiment at this stage. It's not that deep.

I had the first of this years Festive Bakes from Greggs today.

That if you rub oil around the rim of a saucepan, rice and potatoes won't boil over.

Edit - tried to get rid of quote 🤷‍♀️

I have to say sorry, but AI / ChatGPT is terrible for the environment, it is highly energy- and water-intensive.

YES! It even does my meal planning! Love it!

I went to an inpost to post some Vinted parcels and I'm new to the Vinted game and assumed inpost was all digital... it wasn't and I had to print off labels and didn't realise. I don't have a printer at home but there was a Tescos so I printed photos of the labels and sellotaped them on. Has saved me a lot of trips to the library to use their printer!

Is it really properly non-slippy? We had our hall floor re-sanded a couple of years ago and asked for a non-slippery finish but it's still too slippy for our dog so we've had to cover it with a runner. This might be the answer to my prayers though!

really doesn’t seem slippery at all to me. I used to use Ecover one and there’s definitely a difference. Sold by Lakeland among others and I generally think that’s a vote of some confidence.

A water distiller. The stinking yellow, gritty, chemical soup that is left at the bottom is something to behold.

What do you use the water for?

Also isn’t it replacing human intelligence which is already at an all time low?

This is amazing! How did you motivate yourself to go?

I too go every morning & lunchtime - also further improving my eating habits & struggling to put on weight for the first time in years 😅 another vote for weights, but do a bit of everything. It's brilliant for both physical & mental health and is now a habit.

Nancy Birtwhistle’s home made eco detergents. I make limescale remover, liquid laundry detergent and general spray cleaner. They cost pennies and are better than branded products. She’s a goldmine of tips for baking and gardening too.

My robot Hoover bought on Amazon Prime day for 60% off.

My little eufy robot tried his best to vacumn up an enormous dog turd and died.

I've got PTSD

IKEA deliver to supermarket car parks. You buy your large things I guess mainly furniture on their website and choose a two hour window to pick up from a local supermarket. I thing it’s free over a certain amount and I found it more convenient than finding a day I could be available all day. Times seem to be 9-11am or 5-7pm round me, so can fit around most people’s work. The website gives package size so you can check it fis in your car. Two guys are waiting in an ikea section of the car park and they just put the boxes in my car from their van. 13 mile round trip rather than 80 mile trip to nearest IKEA.

BottomlessBrunch · 18/11/2024 21:38

Buying all our socks from the kids department. The sizes go all the way up to men's sizes and you get more pairs for your money.

Yougetmoreofwhatyoufocuson · 18/11/2024 21:41

Pg Woodhouse on YouTube for those middle of the night wakings. There’s a reader called Nick Martin that has no commercials and also recently discovered Stephen Fry does some. I listen to them on my IPad and drift off again. If I wake up again I just slide the slider to the middle and off I go again. I think it becomes like Pavlov’s dog, I drift off in five minutes. I used to be awake for hours.
