Looks like Trump could win?

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

As a Brit looking at the world and looking at the US from the outside in, I wonder what on earth makes people vote for someone as inherently nasty as Trump and that people would think its Ok choose that as their leader.

I fear for the world. This is as bad as it gets.

Savemydrink · 06/11/2024 05:49

Kamala’s supporters were waiting to hear her speak. It’s just be announced she will not be addressing the crowd tonight and they should go home. What? She could have at least thanked her supporters for voting for her and waiting for hours to hear her speak.

What an ungrateful cow. Pftttt

Only more scarier thought than Trump presidency is that if he dies during it (as he is old, let's face it) , his VP would become president

You can’t believe only women give birth if there’s no such thing as a woman. You’d have to say you are a strong believer that only birthing people can give birth. If you think carefully about what this means and the implications.

You still have a right to choose. People have a right to vote for who they think will serve them better, even if you disagree with them.

Nobody really believes there’s no such thing as a woman.

BlastedPimples · 06/11/2024 05:51

Oh goody. A convicted felon for president.

Low standards much?

She wasn't there to take part, she was there to take over. Too bad! Very bad form to leave like that. Hope Trumps supporters party like the world has never seen before😁 Delighted!

Llhaaf · 06/11/2024 05:53

As a Brit who spends a lot of time in the USA, I can see exactly why people have voted for Trump.

From a selfish point of view, I hope that he bring balance to a Western world that’s been heading too far to the left.

I also look forward to our foreign secretary working with President Trump. That will be interesting to see.

pyjamalife · 06/11/2024 05:53

I understood people voting Trump over Clinton.

But you actually have a decent shot at a prime minister for the first time since Obama and you fumble it?! I did not expect to wake up to basically find Trump winning (I kind of thought it was a bad omen that Harris won the popular vote, though)

Gutted for the US right now

The fact she didn't come out speaks volumes about the type of leader she would have been. Runs away when things get tough. Not a good look & very disrespectful to all her supporters.

I was just watching that too.

I thought it was absolutely appalling that she sent someone out to tell the crowd that she won't be making a speech tonight. Incredibly ungrateful, and extremely poor manners.

I think it also suggests that she knows that she's lost. There was still a slim hope but that doesn't seem to be the case, given her reaction.

Those people waited until almost 1am to support her - and she doesn't show her face. Just rude.

Surely she could have just gone out to say thanks, we'll make a full speech tomorrow blah blah. Really, really shitty of her- a good leader needs to know how to lose graciously. It's not just about pumping fists when you win.

And I say all this as someone who was DESPERATE for Harris to win to avoid the corrupt felon getting in the Whitehouse.

karmalaaaala · 06/11/2024 05:56

I would imagine she's had to hide from Trumps threats to shoot the enemy from within?

I’ve booked to pop over in February. I can’t wait to experience the atmosphere, after 47 has been sworn in.

Absolutely even if he can pull the west back to the centre. The Senate is Republican, the house will probably be Republican, time to get back to traditional values. America obviously did not want the Democrats "progressive" policies.

I feel terribly sorry for sane Americans. What a miserable and embarrassing few years they will have if Trump wins. And a risk to world stability.

I avoided the US when he was in power last time and will again. I won't take my dc there while he is in administration. It's not worth the risk.

@Countrylife2002 I'll take my DS to Toronto/Montreal instead, and Lake Louise if I can afford it.

There will be other years after order has been restored.

Edited

May be for starters accept the results ( when official) and stop the division. At this stage I only care for the unity of the US.

The US with Trump would be fine. They do not need your pity and most people are sane plus all those celebrities endorsing Kamala do not even live there full time. They are detached from reality and just helped to alienate the electorate. Time to reflect what went wrong and people’s priorities and what is democracy.

I agree with all of that.

And yet she'd still be a better leader than the orange lunatic.

SassK · 06/11/2024 05:58

This isn't terribly surprising, given the global shift away from left leaning politics and leadership. An enabling approach from government is at the crux, it's that which appeals most to people.

Already there are people on this thread saying they're going to boycott America if Trump wins. An illustration of the 'with or against me' arrogance that permeates today's left(er) leaning contingent; there's nothing progressive about telling people they only matter if they agree with you (indeed I won't even acknowledge your existence - I'll boycott you! - if you don't).

I really hope this "red fog" is going to clear fast. Kamala would be such a refreshing change. If trump wins I think Putin et al will use him as a puppet.

Lmfao who do you think has been in power? Plenty of time over the last few years for change.

What “refreshing change” were you expecting exactly? fucking hell.

if they hadn’t done it whilst in power it’s not gonna happen, blatantly obvious

The refreshing change I'm hoping for is female sport for females only, female spaces for females only..

I think the US just hit a new low! Convicted felon and rapist as president. 👏

karmalaaaala · 06/11/2024 06:02

But he is so disgusting. I just don't understand at all. What are his positive qualities? I guess abusing women is really popular.

Not surprised. Totally deflated hot air balloon. Hillary Clinton hid away too IIRC. And she was made of sterner stuff. Mind you I have to admit the Donald wasn't exactly a gracious loser last time round! Not called yet though. Maybe a surprise is still in store.

Absolutely, she had loads of celebrities like Paul Rudd out in colleges trying to keep students in line to vote. Pathetic. She needed so much "celebrity" endorsement & it got her nowhere. I'm delighted that Trump will probably win. I think it is wonderful for females that he had not been captured by gender ideology & has a very direct plan to stop males infiltrating female sports, toilets, changing rooms, prisons & all our protected female only areas.

You’re fucking kidding right? He is going to decimate women’s rights not protect them.
