Looks like Trump could win?

Kittykat86 · 06/11/2024 03:49

It's looking good for Trump. My dad is a total Trump hater and has been convinced that he won't win, especially since Kamala took over.
I don't know how the system works but is it too early to say that Trump is going to win?

Have the dead voted yet?

Frightened for your daughters? They’re called “birthing people” by the Democrats. How does that support women and girls when they cannot even be named?

orangewasp · 06/11/2024 04:51

I actually despair - how awful does someone have to be to put off voters?

God knows.

Ghengis khan was apparently quite popular.

Hitler won an election.

I'd rather be called a 'birthing person' and have a right to choose - than be called a 'woman' and have no choice

That is said as strong believer that only women can give birth

Abloodyfuriousamerican · 06/11/2024 04:55

@orangewasp no limit to awfulness, apparently. Just can’t be bothered to vote for a woman or a person of colour. I recently read a survey (cited in the NYT, so reasonably reliable), where 64% of Republican men said they would not vote for a black woman. It feels utterly hopeless.

Kamala Harris definitely said 'women' in her speeches.

You can’t believe only women give birth if there’s no such thing as a woman. You’d have to say you are a strong believer that only birthing people can give birth. If you think carefully about what this means and the implications.

You still have a right to choose. People have a right to vote for who they think will serve them better, even if you disagree with them.

Turbulent1 · 06/11/2024 05:00

Yes but for her woman means men too, she has not got the woman's vote as much as expected because she will not protect woman's rights as she claimed she would

Apparently being a criminal is ok but having a vagina is unforgivable.

Zanatdy · 06/11/2024 05:05

I just can’t understand why people vote for him. Sadly it’s predictable. Kamala gave it a good go.

WillowTit · 06/11/2024 05:06

the crazies have voted for their crazy orange leader

Hmmmm took longer than I thought it would for someone to invoke Godwin’s Law, well done and congratulations.

100%.. I think Kamala & the Democrats were just too woke for America. The Republicans have also won the Senate.

The snowflakes on X are already in complete meltdown 😁

I'm so very afraid he is going to win. I'm in Indiana and knew he would win this state easily.

It's so fucking frustrating that people do not vote in their best interests. This man would not piss on you if you were on fire.

I'm very frightened for my daughters. I'm long past worrying about an unwanted pregnancy but my girls are 17 and 25.
Fortunately they reside in Massachusetts which is a solid liberal state. My heart is with all young women who may be affected by his dismantling of reproductive rights

I'm hoping Kamala pulls a Hail Mary in the early morning hours

Abortion is now a state issue so don’t worry about that in relation to the presidential election. If you are an abortion single issue voter then focus on the election for your state governor and so on.

No she didn't. She approved of males infilterating female sports & personal spaces.

LuckyPeonies · 06/11/2024 05:08

I am gutted. We can look forward to women losing even more rights, unchecked environmental destruction, religion being pushed on all, scapegoating minorities and immigrants, abandonment of Ukraine, free reign for his pal putine, prosecution of all of his political ‘enemies’, dismantling of health care, dismantling of social security pension, astronomical medication prices, project 2025, the list goes on and on. This is going to be devastating for everyone, even the utter fools who are putting him back in power.

karmalaaaala · 06/11/2024 05:10

So depressing. How does he get the votes, how is it close? He's such a global weak link, it's extremely worrying.

CeeJay81 · 06/11/2024 05:11

Americans are just crazy. Rather worrying but not surprised.

TheKoalaWhoCould · 06/11/2024 05:14

This is what happens when you have a highly restricted and narrow education system, and a fanatical national identity. They teach children to salute flags and prattle on about god and liberty without teaching them anything in the way of critical thinking, current events, world history etc.

My dad was an eternal optimist and during the Bush era he used to say that almost every town in Europe has buildings older than their entire country and to cut them some slack because they’re a comparatively young democracy and they’ll learn, but WHEN.

Isn’t the definition of stupidity doing the same thing twice and expecting different results?

I think Biden has to shoulder a lot of the blame for this. He just didn’t have the mental acuity or cognitive abilities for the role, and should have stepped aside long ago and given KH a chance to show that change is possible.

According to The Literacy Project, the average American has the reading age of around 13, which goes quite some way to explaining the current situation.

18% of American adults are functionally illiterate, which explains even further.

Kittykat86 · 06/11/2024 05:15

She could still win, she is totally catching up on him. It's definitely not over yet.

"18% of American adults are functionally illiterate, which explains even further." Shocking. It's tribal, very much a cult. I can't bear to watch but can't sleep now.

I really hope this "red fog" is going to clear fast. Kamala would be such a refreshing change. If trump wins I think Putin et al will use him as a puppet.

Meadowfinch · 06/11/2024 05:22

everythingcrossed · 06/11/2024 04:25

NYT has said Trump has 91% chance of winning. I find it very hard to understand why anyone - but women in particular - would vote for him.

I feel terribly sorry for sane Americans. What a miserable and embarrassing few years they will have if Trump wins. And a risk to world stability.

I avoided the US when he was in power last time and will again. I won't take my dc there while he is in administration. It's not worth the risk.

@Countrylife2002 I'll take my DS to Toronto/Montreal instead, and Lake Louise if I can afford it.

There will be other years after order has been restored.
