Checking in. I believe in America and you didn't fight an independence and civil war just to be felled by this orange blimp.

I was in Madeira at the last election - was so pleased with the timing, just before lockdown. Had a whole row of seats to myself on the plane out, and had to isolate for 10 hours on arrival until I got my test results. I spent the days walking the levadas, and the evenings biting my nails in front of CNN.
This is one of my walks.

TRIP US today - Mooch saying there’s been a vibe shift - betting markets have started to shift towards Harris and Katty Kay saying she thinks it’s a data shift as they’re getting the early voting data and women are turning out in big numbers.

Apparently Bad Bunny (I have no clue!) has endorsed Harris and this is equivalent to Taylor Swift for the Puerto Rican community.

We got through the uncertainty immediately after election day 2020 with a combination of blind desperate hope, and humour (thank you Four Seasons Total Landscaping twitter feed). But January 6th had not yet happened...
I can't see that thugs will wait until January 2025 to make their feelings known.

I just want to say to the American MNers, most of the time, I think people get the government they deserve. I don't believe America deserves what it gets. Individual Americans tend towards kind, helpful and community minded. Their media and government are rotten to the core and they therefore get horrifying governments. All of them, including the 'good' ones. The CIA and FBI and Homeland Security and all the awful lobbies and interests. Realpolitik gone mad, all of it.

I don't know how you fix it but I know you don't deserve it.

I've woken with a new sense of calm this morning, I think Harris voters have turned out strongly as early voters and it's now coming through in the polls, it's going to be ok folks - famous last words!

As James Carvel says, she's simply got more money, more grass roots campaigners, more people knocking on doors. She can push this over the line and Trump is actually helping her do it with, especially with his MSG rally!

Republicans are openly voting Democrat which is unprecedented. That is huge.

Forget the polls. Hilary Clinton was ahead in the polls and lost. Look at the pattern of behaviour. So far the turn out of women is huge in all key swing states. The tide has turned now the voting public has got serious.

She will win. Just brace for the fuckwittery from MAGA to try to jam up the legal machine. Just remember most of them are doing this not to win but to stay out of jail. They are desperate.

So brace yourselves but I truly believe America will stand strong 💪

The only thing is, when you archive it, it is not an interactive page, on the map of the US it says select a state for more information but you can't do that

I can't help but to hark back to 2016, when all my friends were mocking me when I was convinced Trump would be elected and was being told, no, of course it won't happen, he's just a clown with no experience, nobody would want him for President. Now, after 4 years of Biden, people seem to have forgotten how dreadful Trump was and would happily re-elect him because "anything is better than the Democrats" according to their mostly false narratives. And calling the Democratic Party left-wing and the UK Labour Party Communist? Absolutely bonkers, but not funny at all.
I don't know why I'm rambling here. Just terrified for democracy, again. The overturning of Roe v Wade, and the ramifications thereof, just did for me completely.
